Stephanie Hawkins sighed, she had been sent on a mission. A mission to kill vampires. No, Stephanie was not a normal girl who had choices like moving to Forks Washington or staying with her mother and boyfriend. No. She was a slayer. She didn't exactly have a choice in anything.

It was either kill or be killed. Her mother had been a slayer, and her mothers mother had been a slayer. It was only natural that she be one. And Stephanie had no regrets.

She didn't have a boyfriend but she wasn't a virgin either.

The reason she was in Forks was because she had heard of vampires that were vegetarians so to speak. They didn't drink human blood. *Stephanie didn't believe that for a second.

What vampire didn't drink human blood, Dracula or not. Now, due to rumors she was high in the mountains, because they being the people of the small town said that bears were mysteriously dying from a strange loss of blood..

"The fuckin bear was probably attacked or somethin..it has nothin to do with vampires." Steph mumbled while wondering what the hell she was doing here.

Emmett, was stalking his favorite prey, a grizzly. Ever since he had been attacked and mauled by a bear in the mountains of Tennessee, he had a passion for hunting the things. And, seeing as he was a vampire, and basically invulnerable no matter what the grizzly did, as well as being highly competitive, he set rules about his hunt.

If the grizzly managed to actually land a blow the sliced his shirt, he'd let it go to hunt it another day. But this one wasn't getting away. He looked down at it from the top of a fir tree, waiting for it to pass below him, then dropping straight down to land on its back. The bear spooked, rearing and trying to shake him off, but Emmett locked his arms around the neck, pulling his body up it, and sinking his teeth into the neck, cutting through the fur and muscle, to the artery beneath.

"No," he thought to himself as the blood flowed into his mouth. "This one isn't getting away."

Stephanie followed the grizzly bear tracks with a sigh. This journey was pointless. There wasn't going to be bear being attacked by any vampire let alone man, it wasn't even hunting season yet. Her partner Ceres had obviously been delusional.

Suddenly she heard it. The angry growl of the grizzly, male grunting, quick footsteps, quicker than any mere mortal. Then she sensed it, this was a vampire. Definately a bloodsucker.

She hid behind a tree not too far from where the vampire was hunting. She watched, the vampire was gorgeous, strong, and if he weren't a vampire she would be all over him.

He also had amazing attack skills, she noticed as he tackled the bear down and bit it's neck. Steph was amazed and disgusted all at the same time. So it was true, there were 'vegan vampires' . Not that it mattered he was still a vampire, still a killer.

"Isnt it risky to be hunting in the open?" She asked, now leaning against the tree. She twirled her stake in her hand. "Never know what or who might find you."

Emmett broke free of the bear, letting the massive body drop, spinning to see who had managed to sneak up on him. Granted he had been busy, but damnit, humans shouldn't be able to do that!

Seeing the stake in her hand, he nearly broke into howls of laughter. Wood? Against his skin? Oh, please.

"I wouldn't exactly call the high mountains 'in the open'", he replied, smiling slightly and wiping his mouth to be sure there wasn't any stray blood. "And you seem remarkably calm for having seen what you just did. How long have you been watching?"

Stephanie smirked at the vampire. "I guess you're right but in my point of view anywhere is out in the open." Stephanie was calm while trying to think of a plan. That was part of her problem, she acted first then thought later.

She really needed to stop that.

"And I've seen more gruesome things before. This is nothing actually. Stephanie Hawkins, you're new nemesis." Steph grinned at him."If you haven't figured it out I'm a vampire slayer and I believe that was your last meal."

"Well, Stephanie Hawkins, I'm Emmett," he replied, rising to the challenge of a fight. "Not sure why you're after me, since you don't look like you're related to the bears." He made it obvious he was checking out her body. "But if you want a fight, let me just clear some space." He turned quickly and lifted the bear carcass overhead, tossing the easily eight hundred pound body a good fifty yards into the tree line.

"You aren't one of those PETA people, are you? You know, the ones who think man isn't fit to live on the Earth?" He fell into a crouch, arms back and fingers curled. "I really don't want to fight you, but the bear wasn't much of a challenge. I promise I won't kill you, though."

Why had she introduced herself? He was going to die soon anyways. Stephanie watched as he checked her out and rolled her eyes, seriously? Was the vampire checking her out? Like he stood a chance. He wasn't even alive.

Her eyes flicked over to the dead bear and then back to the vampire. She didn't want to acknowledge that he had a name, that meant she would get attached.*

And not kill her? she still didn't believe there was such a thing as vegan vampires.

"Ready whenever you are."

Emmett stood there in his crouch for a minute, then moved in cautiously. He wasn't going to just charge in blindly. He started circling to Stephanie's left, inching closer with each step.

When he was only six feet from her, he stood straight and grinned. "Come on, Stephanie Hawkins, let's play. Or would you like me to tie one arm behind my back?" he taunted.

Stephanie watched him warily as he circled her like... a cat or something. Was he implying that she was the mouse in this scenario? How cute. It wasn't true, but still cute.

"Tie your hand behind your back? Heh, where's the fun in that?" She winked at him, then decided against throwing the wooden stake at him. He didn't seem like a clumsy vampire, he'd probably catch it and throw it back at her.

Instead, she did a kick towards his shoulder.*

Emmett winked back at her, and stepped into her kick, trying to rob it of some of it's power by not letting her get full extension on it. When he felt the hit, he grabbed at her ankle and spun around, tossing her toward the river behind him.

This promised to be a lot more fun than the bear. He wondered briefly how her foot felt after impacting his granite hard skin.

Fuck! She thought as her foot hit his rock hard chest. What wad this guy made out of, stone?! She growled quietly as he grabbed her ankle. Stephanie didn't allow herself to scream as she was thrown towards the river.

Stephanie glared at Emmett. "Oh, so someone likes to play rough huh?" She smirked,"Good, I was hoping this fight wouldn't be too easy." Again she moved towards him and kicked higher this time near his face.*

She kicked him, that was the good news but again, she hurt her foot, cursing out loud.

Emmett almost felt sorry for her. She had a lot of strength, that was for sure, and she was fast, but if she kept going at this rate, he'd have to carry her out of the mountains with a broken foot.

He figured maybe if he showed a bit of what he could do, she might back off and be willing to talk. He looked around, and decided on the tree he had stalked the grizzly from. "Hey, Stephanie! Watch!" he yelled, and lashed his hand back at the tree, snapping the two foot thick trunk cleanly, before darting in to try and catch her in a bear-hug. He reached his arms out wide, trying to hug her close so she couldn't swing at him anymore.

Stephanie raised her eyebrow at him as he launched himself toward her trying to give her a hug. Wait, vampires were strong so that meant. Oh shit! He was going to try and keep her from breathing! Quickly she side stepped him.

She rolled her eyes,"Hugging me? That's cute." Okay it was time to take out the big guns now.She knew this was a bad idea the minute she thought about it but it was better than nothing. Steph threw her wooden stake at Emmett.

The stake caught Emmett by surprise. He had been wondering what she thought she was going to do with it, but he had honestly never expected her to throw it at him. Too bad for her, it did nothing more than bounce off his skin. Before it could fall, Emmett snatched it out of the air.

"Do I really look like Dracula?", he asked. Taking hold of the stake and driving it into his own chest. The result was predictable. A small hole in his shirt, and a pile of splinters. he tore the shirt off to make sure she saw that the stake had done nothing to his chest. "Now, will you please stop? I really don't feel like having to carry you out of here after you break something hitting me." He started to stalk toward her again. He didn't pay any attention to the ray of sunlight that he walked through, making his skin glitter like diamonds. After all, she knew he was a vampire, why hide it?

Dracula? Dracula had nothing on him apparently. Her eyes flicked over his muscular chest. Iy was hard not to look at. The vamp was built! It took her a minute to realize that this time she was checking him out. She shook her head silently chastising herself.

By the time she snapped out of it, he was already stalking toward her. Her eyes widened. Was he glittering... in the sunlight? Was this a sign that he was gay or something?

Stephanie swallowed hard. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Well, how about we start with the whole 'Hi, I'm here to kill you' thing?" he said sitting on a rock when it looked like she wasn't going to attack him again. "Why would you come up here to kill me? I haven't hurt anyone, and I certainly never met you before. The much I'd remember." He wasn't going to tell her about the rest of the Cullens, or the Tanya's clan up in Denali. And if the Volturi found out a uman knew about vampires?!?! Not a good idea.

Stephanie sighed, she never thought she would have to explain the slayer/vampire relationship to... a vampire? What kind of vampire didn't know what a slayer was, what a slayer did? Stephanie sighed.

"Okay pay attention because I'm only explaining this once," Stephanie started,"I.... am.... a.... slayer. Slayers are humans with super human strength. We good so far?" Stephanie didn't wait for an answer. "You are a vampire. Slayers kill.... vampires. Among other super natural creatures. do you..." she pointed to Emmett,"understand now?"*

Emmett stared at her, dumbfounded. A slayer? A human who killed vampires? He burst into laughter. "Really, a killer of vampires? And you use wooden stakes I suppose?" He dusted a splinter off his chest. "Okay, I'll bite. Well, not literally, but..." he broke into laughter again.

"I'm sorry," he chuckled, bringing himself back under control. "I shouldn't laugh at you that way, but judging by what's happened so far today, you can't have a really great track record. I tell you what. If you promise not to hurt yourself too badly, go ahead and take your best shot." He put his arms behind him, throwing his chest out and raising his chin.

Stephanie fumed, was he laughing at her?! He was! How dare he! She was supposed to be feared not mocked. Her eyes narrowed at Emmett. "Yea, but I'm not just a mere mortal, I have more strength than any regular human would."

Why did she care if he believed her or not? He was going to be dead soon anyways.

"Oh gee, thanks. Are you going to give me a free hit too?" She rolled her eyes at Emmett as he put his arms behind his back," No way! if I'm going to kick your ass I'd prefer to have you fighting back."

How dare he treat her. Stephanie Hawkins like she was... weak.

[Chgris]

"You're serious? You really want to make a fight out of this?" Emmett shrugged. "Okay, I'll play." He stood and stretched, slowly rolling his head to loosen his neck before he seemed to blur as he darted around behind her and landed a sharp slap on her ass. "Tag, you're it."

Stephanie rolled her eyes, it was clear this guy was all talk. He was just one of those big brawny vampires who talked big but fell even harder. Focusing her mind she watched as he moved in slow motion.*

To any mortal it wouldve been a blur but to her it was slow to her. She shrieked as her ass was slapped then just as quick as he moved she grabbed him and flipped him on the ground.

"Touch my ass again and next time i may have to castrate you!"

[Chgris]

Emmett laughed as he rolled to his feet. "That's more like it!" He began slowly circling her again, closing the distance with each step. He moved his left hand as though trying to slap her ass again, then darted his right in to close his fingers on her left wrist, this time intending to not let go.

It was official. This vampire was crazy. That was it, that was all. She watched him cautiously as he circled her like a lion after it's prey. Focus Steph, she told herself. She watched as his hand reached for her ass again then moved to strike him, only to be caught by him.

Stephanie struggled to get free but he was all brawn there was no way she was gonna be set free. "Touche." she retorted.*

[Chgris]

Emmett used her wrist to pull her in close, forcing her arm up behind her back. "What now, slayer?" he taunted. "Still want to fight? Or maybe you'll tell me what the Hell you think you're doing around here, other than molesting innocent vampires?"

[princesssexci]

If she moved she would twist her arm. If she didn't she was trapped and pretty much showed this vampire she was nothing more than a mortal who lifted heavy weights.Stephanie bit her lip and sighed. It was time to play the poor weak girl act,"Im sorry you're so right... What was I thinking trying to best such a strong handsome vampire."

"I'll leave you be.. it's better than actually killing myself, right?" Stephanie smiled innocently. Wait did he actually accuse her of molesting him?! He slapped her ass not the other way around.

Kay Steph cool it.. she told herself.
