Avatars of Lucifer (OOC)

This is a game about demons that are actually good, and the angels are evil:

Since the dawn of time, the universe has been made up of intertwining bands of energy. When living creatures die, their essences rejoin the energy, which we will call the Eternal Pulse. When they rejoin, physical becomes illusion -- thought is real. Souls can create their own personal heavens -- or hells, if they are too negative to create their own paradise.

One day long ago, a powerful warlord suffered a near-death injury, and was able to touch upon the energy of the Eternal Pulse. He used this newfound power to become a god, created his Circle of Angels, and ruled the ancient world. Different cultures had different names for him and his angels, but they all feared or adored them.

Through their connection to the Eternal Pulse, the warlord and his angels were ageless and difficult to injure or kill, and so they lived on for many centuries. Over time, the power had corrupted the warlord, who many referred to simply as "God" or "The One True God" or "Heavenly Father." One of his high-ranking angels, Lucifer, grew angry with God for demanding all his followers live by a strict set of guidelines. Lucifer felt people should be free to follow whatever path they may, so long as they harm none. God disregarded his concerns, and so Lucifer gathered his own followers and rebelled.

The Holy Wars lasted many years, but in the end, both God and Lucifer died in a massive explosion created by their clashing powers. After this, the surviving angels continued on as gods to the people, until God was able to reach out to them from within the Eternal Pulse. He continued to guide them from the otherside, created Eden for them to live and rest -- a large castle with a surrounding forest and garden that mortals could not enter. It existed in a void between the realm of the living and the Eternal Pulse, and in Eden, God could more easily speak with his angels, planning his eventual resurrection.

Luficer learned how to speak from within the Eternal Pulse as well, but the Circle of Angels convinced most people he was the Devil.

Eventually, Luficer did earn a following again, and this led to another holy war over the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a boy who was born with a very strong natural connection to the Eternal Pulse. The moment he was born, anyone with a connection to the Pulse could sense his presence. God's plan was to use this boy as his new vessel once he reached adulthood.

The boy shunned both God and Luficer, sensing their great hate towards each other and not wanting to be corrupted by their negative energy. He shielded himself completely from them, and spent his life traveling the world, using his powers to help people, never to cause violence. During this time, several angels hid their true selves from Jesus and traveled with him as disciples. When the time came for Jesus to die, he knew who had betratyed him, and that he was an angel. But he radiated nothing but peace and calm.

Jesus passed into the Eternal Pulse, and created his own paradise, a place where souls could dwell, free from the corruption that rippled through the Pulse due to the holy wars.

God and the Circle of Angels twisted the truth about Jesus and used it to create Christianity. They attempted to conquer the world, destroy all non-believers, and find a new vessel for God. However, anytime they discovered a newborn child with a strong connection to the Eternal Pulse, the Avatars of Lucifer were there to stop them. Sometimes God did get his hands on a child, but none were worthy vessels, so they became angels instead. Whenever Lucifer managed to get a child, the boy or girl would be given a choice -- come train with the Avatars or let them seal off his/her powers.

Like the Angels have Eden, the Avatars have made their home on the ancient island of Atlantis, which is now hidden in the Bermuda Triangle.

So, I'm thinking our characters are these Avatars and we do various missions and whatnot. Anyone interested?

what type of mission will they take would it be like finding people who are close to the pulse or woudl it be slightly different

Alright, cool. The reason they mostly live on Atlantis is because it is hidden within the Bermuda Triangle and if any Angels try to find it, they will be lost in the Triangle while looking. Only Avatars know the secret to finding Atlantis. You have to see it first to get there on your own, which means someone must take you there first. Then, if you picture the island in your mind when you enter the Triangle, it will appear before you. Atlantis is the only place in the world where the Angels can't touch you, so that is where young Avatars are trained and where all of them live and rest inbetween missions.
