Tantra

I am really curious about Tantra, and would like to learn more about it. I've been practicing yoga daily for a little over a year, and recently I've been approaching my practice erotically. Naturally, that has made me curious about Tantra. Does anyone have any resources they can recommend? Being single (and very selective with my sexual partners), I am interested mostly in developing a practice alone right now, that I can expand to include another person (or people) should the right opportunity arise.

There are plenty of books and websites and expensive retreats out there, but for now I am just looking for a good introduction that I can practice and explore on my own at home.

That's ok--it's nice to know I'm not alone in my interest. If you're comfortable doing so, I'd love to hear more about your experience, either here or in a PM.

May I suggest you look up Dr. Barbara Keesling. she has a very tastefully done video explaining Tantric to couples she is counseling. Her video is on a slutty website, (can't remember it right now) but the video is well worth watching.

My take on tantric was that you teach your mind and heart and senses to love yourself first and then move to a partner.
It's touching with gentle purpose, stroking to bring feelings to the surface of the skin, and very calm controlled movements.

Couples mirror touches. One partner trails a finger down the arm, the other partner does the same. Etc. The Keesling video will give you lots of additional info.

My perception of Tantra as applied to sex is living in the moment and experiencing every aspect to the fullest possible extent, truly immersing oneself within and reveling in pleasure. There is a lot of information out there and almost endless interpretations of what Tantra is, and best practices. No right or wrong in my opinion – just find what works for you.

As fast paced and goal oriented as we tend to be in today’s world many of us do not take the time to “smell the roses” so to speak. Even loving intimacy with your partner can become like connect the dots – kiss, kiss; then fondle select targeted erogenous locations to illicit arousal then engage in chosen sex act until orgasm is reached – often as efficiently as possible in a short period of time to achieve the “goal”.

Embracing Tantric philosophies enabled me to slow down, and fully immerse myself into whatever I was doing to the exclusion of outside distractions. To become sensory, and get out of my head and simply enjoy the experience for what it was. I think this is particularly important for women as they tend to multitask and struggle with getting into the headspace where they allow themselves to be receptive to sensuality.

It fundamentally changed the way I approached intimacy as it became all about enjoying the journey and less about the big finish at the end. When I touched my wife I reveled in the experience of simply touching her skin, feeling her warmth, rejoicing in her response to my hands on her body. Touch, caress, and massage became less about targeting arousal and more about the exchange of energy between partners and simply enjoying her magnificence.

Kind of ironic to find out moving energy in this way encourages profound mental/brain/ glandular system response and levels of arousal that totally eclipse what used to occur during targeted purposeful stimulation. I really get into long drawn out massage with heated aromatic oils where I lose myself in the pleasure of giving her pleasure. You become so in tune with your partner you can almost sense what they want and need and provide it without a single word being uttered.
I love to follow this up with slow drawn out cunnilingus and get her off as many times as she desires. Intercourse becomes a divine spiritual experience as instead of a few minutes of vigorous thrusting followed by a big finish you can expand on the experience and make it last as long as you both want it.

I am particularly fond of lazy Sunday morning wake up PIV (penis in vagina) where neither of us reach orgasm so we remain hot and horny, then engage in “quickies” and various sexual favors all day as time permits. She can come as many times as she likes during the day but I typically wait until the end of the day(or the next day, or as long as you want to push it) for the big finish to revel in the high state of arousal we have built up. We have found this so much more fulfilling and really revel in maximizing erotic energy buildup and exchange between us. We literally cannot keep our hands off each other – it is that hot!

Thank you for this very thoughtful and informative post. I think this is something i've explored instinctually throughout my adult sexual life, between my innate tendency to integrate my sexuality and spirituality, and the intrinsic nature of my 16 year relationship with my life partner (who died a few years ago).

Now I am looking for a way to more formally practice this integration of sexuality, spirituality, mindfulness and physical expression, but I'm having trouble finding the right resources to learn more. I live in a very rural location where I don't have access to formal training opportunities. Looking for recommendations on books or videos. Most of what I've found so far is either too western new age for my tastes, veiled pornography (nothing wrong with that--just looking for something different), or esoteric to someone without formal training. I took an undergraduate class on Tibetan Buddhism, have practiced yoga and transcendental meditation for many years, and practice mindfulness in many aspects of my life, but some of the more academic texts on Tantra are still a bit esoteric for my level.

I appreciate any suggestions.

If I read you right Alice you are looking for information/practical application of Tantric principles that doesn't get too far out in the philosophical/metaphysical weeds. Might want to look up Layla Martin - she has a commercial website https://laylamartin.com/tantric-institute/ with a six week on-line course but has a bunch of informative vids on her you tube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClr...V-qsGbUaV6dOFQ.

Hi,

I am fairly new to this journey and have found similar difficulties in finding good resources to guide me. I have found some good audio books on Amazon and have been working my way through them. So far the best one I have listened to is "Tantric Sex: Step by step guide" by Grace Mason and Jim Owens.

Some background on how I set out on this path. I started by having a Tantric Nuru massage in Germany 2 years ago. It was the most fulfilling experience I have ever encountered. I truly felt my entire body had experienced orgasm.

This had me doing lots of research on the subject and as mentioned above found very little. I visited a local practitioner and she gave me some valuable insight. The most important being that orgasm and ejaculation are not the same in tantra. The other critical aspect she stressed to me was that if a woman is having pleasure she doesn't need the added pressure of an actual orgasm. If she does that's a bonus but in her opinion there is too much pressure on men to make a woman cum and this pressure then transfers to the woman who then finds it harder to enjoy the experience.

Following this I set out to try and explore this taking all the advice I have been given from reading, vids and my visits to the practitioner. I have tried where possible to set up as best I can. I bought a good quality massage bed, bought good quality Nuru Gel (expensive), lit the vanilla candles, downloaded Tantric Massage music from ITunes. So far we have had 2 sessions and they just keep getting better.

The last one was in a hotel. We both showered and my wife lay face down on the massage bed. Warm and dark room, scented with Vanilla candle and covered her with a light sarong. While I showered she lay listening to the music and concentrating on breathing and meditation. Once I was showered I pulled the cover back down to her bum and poured warm Nuru gel onto her shoulders and started to massage her shoulders and back. I worked my way down letting the warm gel run down her ass and over her pussy. I worked my way down her entire body from the tips of each finger to her toes. I spent some time on her toes and heels of her feet and back up behind her knees. The research I have done has helped me to identify her erogenous areas. I worked my way back up her legs, inside her thighs and occasionally letting my fingers trail down her ass and over the pussy lips. After about 40 minutes of working on her back I turned her over and once again covered her from the waist down. Once again massaging her top with lots of slow sensual caressing of her breasts and some teasing on her nipples. After about 20 minutes of this I uncovered her lower half and worked my way down her legs. Once again occasionally caressing her inner thighs and letting my fingers brush her pussy. During this I did find that simultaneously putting pressure on her breast bone and pubic bone simultaneously got her very aroused. Eventually I started on her pussy. Firstly just rubbing her outer lips between my fingers up and down the full length of her pussy with the occasional rub against her clit. By this point she was dripping wet and her hips were really responding to my touch. Eventually I slipped 2 fingers into her and firmly rubbed her g-spot with one hand while rubbing her clit with my other hand. During this time I stopped rubbing her clit and concentrated on my fingers inside her. She quickly slipped her fingers onto her clit and stroked her clit while I massaged her g-spot. This brought her to the most intense orgasm I have seen her have in 32 years! I have never seen her squirt but this time there was a creamy discharge from her and my hand and the massage bed were soaked with her juices. I covered her with the sarong and left her lying for about 20 minutes to enjoy the feeling.

After this she returned the favor and went through a similar massage routine on me both back and front. She brushed against my cock and balls throughout the massage and I found that I would get hard and then it would subside even though the pleasure was constant. She ended the session by pressing on the area below my balls while with the other hand stroking me on the tip of my cock. Each time I approached orgasm she would back off and then when the feeling had passed she would return. After about 15 minutes of this edging she finally allowed me to cum and it was the most intense orgasm I have ever experienced. I don't think I have cum this volume of cum for 15 years and the pleasure was across my entire body. I was jerking and shaking it was so intense. She covered me and allowed me to lie listening to the music and contemplating the pleasure. In total the entire experience last a little over 2 hours.

For us the most significant thing we have experienced is that this is the first time she has ever rubbed her own clit sexually. She is from the generation where only bad girls touched themselves. The second advice was that it was the first time she has ever given me a hand job. She was sexually abused as a girl and this has always been one aspect that she found very difficult.

While I realize that many on here will feel this is not true Tantra we are trying to get there and using as many of the principles we have been learning and so far it has allowed us to experience a new level of intimacy and the most amazing pleasure. I really feel that this is one of the most fulfilling sexual experiences I have enjoyed.

I would love to have any suggestions on additional resources that can help us to advance this journey.

If I read this right?

Tantra can be dangerous. It can mess with the Kundalini.

I try never to mess with it.

I do have a friend messing with it, she seems to be going
a bit crazy.

I get all kinds of mad emails.

Truth is... I am Iron man!
