Survived the work day, grabbed some groceries on the way home

Your recipe sounds good Wat, and oversized zucs make good compost for next years garden, nature doesn't have waste.

And I take my over-produced to a community center here, they have a table for those who are on fixed budgets or just have more month than money. It's strictly no questions asked so the people don't have to be embarrassed. It's a nice policy.

Tornado warnings in my old stomping grounds had me thinking of a few I left behind so I am going to make a few calls tonight and catch up. Then it's going to be feet up and quiet night time.

what a convoluted path to get a free window for my car. couple of days ago some miscreants busted out my window they didn't even rifle through my car just straight up I'm bored for the summer vandalism.

So I go out in the heat to a you pull it and find a window but it's missing a little Clips on the bottom that bolted to the window regulator someone broke them.

I pass on that window and I spent the morning trying to find another one and it turns out there doesn't seem to be one in town.

I go back to the U Pull It only to find out they had discarded that particular car overnight.

The counter man went back to their shipping area and managed to climb on top of a stack of cars and pull that piece of glass out of the trunk where I left it.

$31 later I'm the proud owner of a piece of glass that I can't actually install. I was hoping that I could maybe clean up my old clips and touch them or find a supplier of clips.

Checked with an automotive glass shop and they helpfully suggested that they could order me a piece of glass and take the clips off of the new piece of glass I pointed out that I could just install the new piece of glass, and save everybody a bunch of work.

On a whim I stopped into an AutoZone thinking maybe they had some kind of specialty catalog they could order it out of because the dealer doesn't have any such thing. They get them already installed on the glass, too.

I'm talking to a counter man who has a friend who rebuilds Honda's Who would know if anybody produces them and so we're waiting around to see if the friend calls back.

The kid in the back ears pick up because we start talking Hondas. Turns out he's got a parts car in his backyard that'll fit and he said he just let me have the piece of glass. We''re practically neighbors he lives about a mile from me.

This also solves my door hardware problem that I was not getting around to fixing just yet. because I hadn't fixed my door hardware is probably why they didn't rifle through my car cuz after busting out my glass they couldn't open the door even when they reached in.

Dumbass kids could have gotten into my car from the outside without breaking the glass if they knew anything about Hondas. I don't even have a door handle on that side. I've got two new ones but they've been in a box for about a year and I haven't gotten around to installing them.

There is a bodacious frog-strangler storm going on outside. The lights flickered, but have stayed on so far. We rarely lose power.


Yep, I'll compost the oversized fruit, and I've been known to get volunteers, too, right in the compost heap. That's a handsome kitteh!!!


I just had the seller talk me out of his Honda for the trade-in value. Seems it has some electrical issues with the power windows - none of them work. One more reason to like roll-'em-yourself windows.

Work is going to be hotter than hades.



The Fourth of July tents are popping up all over town. I still have the arsenal I purchased for last year's rainout. I'm torn between adding to it and the nagging suspicion that everyone has lost interest.

I had two small trucks, a Mazda B2000 and the S10 The Mazda wasn't much of a truck, and it kept shitting cylinder heads and/or head gaskets. The S10 was a decent vehicle.


I'm thinking bigger for the next truck. And diesel.


But there may be an intermediate truck along the way.


We'll see.

I also have seen an old-style round body F150 and I also know where an old square body F150 is up for sale...


Don't press me on the years though.


The Ford for sale has some visible rust under the door, but still, if it goes for under a thousand, it could be a good buy. I just don't need either another vehicle or a project.
 
Now, I could get behind owning an old F1 or F2, pre-Fred Sanford, although the Fred Model would be okay, too.


But they gotta have a flathead, and it's gonna get rodded a bit.


Of cource, then it's totally unuseable for anything more complicated than getting groceries . . .
