I agree with chas. and a question.. does he always look like that? no way to blend in amongst humans? cause if that's the case then wouldn't his continual heat burn off any clothing? Plus he doesn't look human (genitalia) so why wear it?

Perhaps the meteor struck him and buried him underground? The destruction of the bridge woke him up? Ghost Rider was flinging a hell tonnage of flame and heat around.
 
Finally was able to think about what Nightwing might be doing during the two week gap. It really depends on what happens with Aquaman. He'll either be sticking around the HQ and studying his team and figuring out how best to use them in combat. Or he'll return home and have a long awaited talk with father-dearest.

Aquaman is going to convalesce briefly at NJLHQ before going back to Atlantis for some long-term rehab with healing mages from The Conservatory.

But there's no reason we can't do both of those things with Nightwing.

I'm actually pretty psyched to do a scene as Bruce with your Damian, I've had images for that in my head for months.

Power/ability - As a normal human, Helena is not blessed with any supernatural powers. She has, however, honed her mind and body to the best of her abilities. She is considered to be one of the most gifted street-wise vigilantes in the business, and is proficient at using various firearms.

Weakness - As with any human, she's just flesh and blood. While ordinarily very cautious about the fights she picks, even she can sometimes get in over her head.

Bio - A vigilante operating out of Gotham City, Helena also belongs to a group of heroes known as The Second Wonders. She is frequently partnered up with her best friend, Karen Starr.

Helela was born into the Bertinelli Mafia family in Gotham, though she was actually the result of an affair between her mother Maria and a man named Santo Cassamento. She was only eight years old when a gunman burst into the Bertinelli family residence and murdered her entire family, though she was spared by a twist of fate. Helena was sent to Italy, where she learned how to defend herself, and the seeds of revenge were first planted.

When she was fifteen, Helena moved to Switzerland to avoid the crackdown from Italian authorities against the Mafia in Sicily. It was there that she learned just how corrupt her own "family" was, and she decided that she would not only seek revenge against those responsible for murdering her parents, but that she would actively stamp out crime wherever it stuck out its ugly head.

Helena dutifully educated herself about the Mafia and its criminal enterprise, and obtained numerous weapons to assist her in her crusade. She initially took up the mantle of Robin after watching Batman fight crime in Gotham, but with the disappearance of The Wonders, Helena has chosen to go by the name of The Huntress, which, she feels, is a bit more appropriate.

Alter Ego - What is your character's "everyday" name? Wesley Edmund Dodds

Alias - What is their "super" name? The Sandman

Age - How old is your character? Wesley appears to be in his mid thirties. Though he sometimes refers to events that happened much longer ago as though he was there.

Appearance -

Personality - What is your character like?
Wesley can be jovial and kind, but, like the Dreaming itself, he can shift dramatically. Wesley is occasionally overtaken by prophecy and visions shared through his connect to Dream. Sometimes these are pleasant and a source of inspiration. Other times they are the things of pure nightmare. As such Wesley can sometimes be morose and easily brought to frustration.

Gear (optional) - What items do they carry on them?
Wesley wears a specialized mask and gloves crafted by from the stuff of The Dreaming, these allow him to be protected from inhaled poisons and toxins. Additionally, the gloves can emit various vapors that either incapacitate or otherwise drug his targets.

Power/ability - What does your character posses?
In addition to the gear above, Wesley has the ability to see visions of the past, present, and future. Due to the fragment of Dream within Wesley, he is also able to turn into sand, move through earth at incredible speeds, make use of Geokinesis and has intimate knowledge of many subjects gained through his connection to the Library of Dreams.

Weakness - Any weaknesses?
The Sandman is a dangerous foe when prepared, but, like his mentor, the mystery man of the same name, if caught unprepared he is not nearly as formidable. Intense heat can fuse his silicone based physiology into brittle glass, and while this may not kill him, it will be excrutiating and may take him out of the fight for an extended period as he reforms.

Bio - History of your character? (You decide on the length.)

Born Edmund Hawkings, the nephew of Dian Belmont, the girlfriend and partner of the original Sandman, a mystery man active prior to WWII, Edmund would become the sidekick of his "Uncle Wes". He spent several of his formative years learning detective skills, hand to hand combat and various scientific disciplines to assist in his uncle's crime fighting.

When Edmund was 17 a metaphysical event occurred which would prove to drastically alter his life. Unknown to Wesley, his soul had long ago been touched by Morpheus, Dream of The Endless. As such, when Dream was captured and imprisoned, those, like Wesley, whom had been touched, fell into a deep and slumber that would last until Dream was released. Wesley and Dian spent years trying to find a way to wake him. However, his was not a natural sleep. Edmund would spend the next 72 years roaming the remnants of the Dreaming.

Protected there by only his wits and his guile, Edmund would stumble onto The Library of Dream. The last bastion of safety in the ravaged lands of The Dreaming. There he befriended Dream's last loyal subject, Lucien. His only ally, Edmund became quite fond of the old Librarian. And so it was that when Dream eventually freed himself from his imprisonment and returned to The Dreaming, to find it a mere shadow of it's former glory, and his subjects run amok, it was Lucien who would be the first to kneel to his Lord.

Dream tasked Lucien with recovering all the dreams, nightmares and artifacts that had been lost or stolen. And it was Edmund Lucien would turn to. Edmund was granted the powers of The Dream Hunter. Able to tap deeply into the Dreaming, Edmund spent what to him was an eternity wandering the realms of The Dreaming. Recovering that which was taken.

Several months ago by our reckoning, Dream called Lucien and Edmund to him. In recognition of their work Dream granted Edmund a boon. The chance to reenter the Waking World. For services to The Dreaming, Edmund was restored to a younger self. He was also granted great power. Among these, the gift Dream had granted to Edmund's original mentor, Prophetic Sight.

And so it came to pass, that in a long forgotten lab belonging to Wesley Dodds, Edmund would awake. Dian, having passed from the Waking World several years ago, had left Edmund in the care of her and Wesley's granddaughter. Who was perhaps more shocked than anyone to see the elderly man lying in the bed before her turn first to dust, to Sand, and then recorporate into the young man before her.

Dian Dodds would help Edmund create a new identity. And in honor of his lost mentor, he would take his name. Both names as a matter of fact. The newly named Wesley Dodds could not watch chaos and darkness reign in the Waking World. Pushed into action by Prophetic Dreams, Wesley would call forth the gifts of Dream. A Mantle similar to both the mask worn by his mentor and the Battle Raiment of the Lord of Dreams. Gauntlets of The Dreaming, allowing him to conjure forth the Fog of Dreams, which he can manipulate to various effects, including use as a knockout gas, truth serum, or even inducing hallucinogenic nightmares depending on his needs.

The final gift of Dream was perhaps His most potent. With his physical form transformed, no longer a flesh and blood being, Wesley Edmund Dodds is able to shape his form to almost any he desires. From a Sandstorm to a Golem of Sand, to his default corporeal self. He has near complete mastery over his physical form.

The Sandman has now waded back into the Waking World. Aided by his only remaining relative. And for those that wish to defile this world they shall soon learn a simple lesson.... There is no land beyond The Law.

Personality - Incredibly smart and driven, Dian is much like her grandmother. Despite her often bookish personality Dian also possesses a deep wit. Occasionally she also acts as a voice of reason for The Sandman.

Gear (optional) - Dian fell in love with math and science as a child. She currently owns Dodd Pharmaceuticals and has access to their facilities, research, etc. She also has access to the private lab that her Grandparents built for their crime fighting.

Born the only child to a single mother, Dian grew up in a care free home. Her mother was kind and gentle, but with a subtle strength. Lucy Dodds was, like her father, a skilled chemist, and it was with his backing that she opened Dodd Pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately, Lucy's life was cut short by cancer. Wesley and Dian would take their only grandchild in and raise her to be the strong and determined woman she is today.

Named for her grandmother, Dian shares many of her personality traits. She grew up in the lab her grandparents shared, loving math and science almost as much as the bedtime stories her grandfather would tell.

Dian would grow up to be a brilliant young woman. Much like her mother. She became an expert in bio-chemistry and has worked hard to make her mother's company, though small by most industry standards, successful. She has dedicated most of her research into areas of humanitarian interest instead of chasing various high money topics.

It wasn't until her grandfather's death that she was told the stories he used to tell were true. Dian took over her grandfather's lab, and with it, the care of Edmund, lost in a sleeping sickness for many decades.

Dian was working on a new formula that she hoped may wake him, in this same lab when she saw the impossible. She watched as Edmund first turned into a swirling vortex of sand, before taking on his new appearance and form. Since that time, Dian has worked to try to understand his new silicone based form and how it is possible.

Dian used her wealth and connections to create a new identity for Edmund and since has worked with him to understand his new place in the world. Acting as his confidant and sounding board Dian is proud to carry on the legacy of her grandparents. Dian has taken up training with Edmund to learn the ropes of being a vigilante. Though still a novice in the physical aspects of her new extracurricular activity, her brilliant mind is well suited for deductive reasoning.

Oh! You should bump up Dian's Intelligence to somewhere in the 80s, to emphasize the fact that she's a scientist.

Other than that, I've gone over this with a fine-tooth (beach)comb and I'm satisfied with it.

Varshanka, do you have any quibbles or caveats?
