Justice League: The New Wave (OOC - Interest Check)

"I loathe sand," he grumbled. "And this suit is Vivienne Westwood, I hope you're happy. Not that I don't appreciate your work in Bhutran, but I have a new assignment for you and briefing you would have been much easier for both of us if you hadn't ditched your comms."

I assumed this was a reference to a dedicated communication link. (that was made available to the Rider from Lex) hence the .. irritation.. that the comms had been ditched (ignored)

I may have been over reaching (over thinking)

That conversation was with Renegade, not Ghost Rider.

Renegade would have had some kind of earpiece commlink for her assassination op, I had assumed. And ditching those comms for a little downtime seemed the Renegade thing to do. Forgive me if I overassumed in that instance, but I don't know when The Rider would have gotten one of those earpieces.

I was going to have Lex offer LexIcon smartwatches to any Leaguers who wanted or needed or would trust one, but we hadn't gotten that far in the discussion yet.

That said, if The Rider has a mobile of her own, she's perfectly welcome to give Rose the number.

holy shit storm. lack of sleep. my bad. yes. fuck me twice and smash my head with a hammer. cross linked characters posts into a major mistake.

easiest solution... The Rider whispered.. "Tell her."

The Rider would grudgingly accept a phone/communication device. just not from Lucifer.. er Mordred.. er.. Lex.

Or Renegade.

Rose - yes (She's innocent)
Wondergirl - yes.. (same reason)

Nothing major about it. Just a minor conflation.

And it's not like your IC text explicitly contradicted anything.

I'm just glad we were able to sort it!

No worries.

Just going to give Nubian a chance to respond to what's transpired, what with The Rider's Kool-Aid-Man exit and, hey, all that water falling from the ceiling.

I've got my basic responses in my head already but I don't want to get so far ahead that he has to fight to catch up.

Sorry about the hold-up, everyone. I was trying to get a post out tonight but it just didn't cohere.

I will likely be offline for the most part tomorrow night but I will hopefully have plenty of time to write on Friday and/or Saturday.

Thanks guys.

It's not that I was especially upset or worried about the delay, but I did want to keep everyone looped in.

Also, did everyone see the "Legends of Tomorrow" finale? IT WAS AMAZING

Hey guys, I'm just going to drop out of this game. I'm not very involved in it, and I've kind of been here just to be here. So you guys got an open slot that's easy to fill.

I was wondering why you hadn't replied to Lex' reply to Hiro.

That's a bummer, I really thought I could help you feel engaged in this.

Any way we can convince you to stay? Changes we could make, suggestions, that sort of thing?

Well, going forward, I'll write Hiro long enough to phase him out. HC doesn't seem to think his character made much of an impact, but I disagree-- in any case, Hiro and Nathan can have their adventures in California off-camera.

I'm disappointed by his departure, because the character had so much potential and kinetic energy. But I don't blame HC for not finding enough in this thread to hold his interest, it just seems like my GMing style didn't synergize with his expectations.

Let me just take this moment to reiterate:

A: If you're ever feeling dissatisfied with this game, please loop in both Var and myself in whatever manner you're comfortable doing, here or PM or what have you. I've said it before, I'll keep saying it, please tell us. We can't fix anything if you don't tell us something's wrong, and we would much rather have the opportunity to try and fix things rather than lose out on excellent storytelling opportunities with all of you.

B: Speaking of storytelling opportunities, if you have any arcs or notes you want to hit with your character, any backstory you want to develop, any plot points you want to hit in the future-- Crowning Moments of Awesome/Badass/Etc --please tell us those too, we'd love to work those in to help you feel engaged and invested.

If you have no complaints or suggestions, Var and I will just keep doing what we're doing, rolling out future plot arcs as we go like dungeon-masters in our little virtual tabletop game, and hope to God and The Muses that our efforts to provide enough meat for your characters will prove sufficient.

I would also like, now that we're a player down (in a game that's already, let's be honest, light on non-GM PCs) and we're moving towards a storyline that could (spoiler!) potentially encompass all of North America, to open recruitment to some of my friends in other threads in case they want to jump on for the second wave. If no-one has any objections?

In case anyone wants to say anything to Luthor before he leaves, as he asked, we can retroactively put that in between my last post and Varshanka's.

Okay Chas ready to step up and help you fill in the roster. I know you are looking for a speedster or an Archer so let me make two Suggestions.

Speedster: A play on Jessie Quick. I can role play as a Girl or a guy for this one depending on the dynamics of the team. This will give you both a speedster and another power hitter.

Archer: Maybe someone like Red Arrow or Arsenal, or going further afield Connor Hawke Green Arrow.

AUSSIE!

Okay, I love Connor Hawke a lot, so my initial reaction would be to go with that-- do you think you'll keep his appearance and multiracial ethnicity intact from his original timeline? It's not a dealbreaker, by any means, I'm just curious.

In either case, I'm open to whichever notion speaks to you better-- develop your ideas, and whichever sings to you, make a profile for them and we'll fine-tune it if need be.

There's a blank of the profile here.

And there's reference for the power scales here.

I highly, highly recommend reading through the IC and OOC when you get a chance, so you're more aware of the basics of this continuity. If you have any questions, we'd be happy to supply whatever answers we can.

If you do wind up going with Connor, Aussie, if I might make a suggestion--

--and I reiterate that it is a suggestion, this is by no means binding--

...my favorite run of JLA included a Connor Hawke who had barely met his father Ollie (like, they met when Ollie took a break at the monastery where Connor was studying Zen archery, and Ollie didn't even know Connor was his kid at first) before Ollie had died (he got better, but not until a much later Kevin Smith story).

A lot of his characterization included trying to follow in Ollie's footsteps and honor his legacy... but at the same time being mystified by him. Especially with regard to Ollie's ladies'-man sleeping habits and those trick arrows, Connor found them ludicrous at first.

Given that Ollie would be vanished with the rest of The Justice League, that early characterization for Connor would line up nicely. Like, Ollie has vanished before Connor could really get to know him at all?

Seriously, just food for thought. If that doesn't speak to you, no worries!

Yes I like that Connor has that mix in him. Quarter Asian, Quarter African American, Half Caucasian. Definitely keeping that in the profile.

Also will be having it so he is the master of unarmed combat (Akido) and uses more of the natural arrows. Sort of like the Arrow of the TV series.

He would be more of the Fan boy, Buddhist monk (Although I may need some help to flesh out his personality here ) as he tries to follow in his fathers steps but not in his playboy ways.

I will do my best to help out, but it sounds like you've got a pretty good feel for him!

One of my favorite arcs with early Connor is JLA Vol 1, Issues 8 and 9. In the following storyline, Rock of Ages, he even shoots a speedster with an arrow (sort of, it's complicated, but it was still bad-ass)!

There's also the Hard Traveling Heroes: Next Generation arc with him and BFF Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, I've read my copy of that cover to cover so many times.
