Justice League: The New Wave (OOC - Interest Check)

and I see Lex using an intermediary, not meeting or associating with them himself. He might but I feel he'd be.. sneaker than that. Just in case he needed them to be a fall guy at a later point in time.

Oh, yeah, no question, he's got people for this.

I think he's going to meet with Aquaman one-on-one, but everyone else he's going to utilize proxies.

Okay, guys.

Good work all 'round. I think we deserve fist-bumps.

Make any transitional chit-chat you need to wrap this up, have characters get each others' contact info (if they have a way to be contacted), if you like, whatever's clever.

I'm thinking we'll skip ahead about a week, at which point Lex' people will begin contacting the players and get them to come in. Now, we can either play out those contact scenes or we can have each character show up at the new League base as directed by one of Lex' flunkies, with each writer describing in brief how they were contacted.

Up to you guys, case-by-case.

Optionally, I encourage you to consider what your character will have gotten up to over the skipped week, and to maybe post about that in flashbacks. If you are going to flash back, make sure to include some sort of timestamp in your post, like, One Week Earlier, or The Morning After Metropolis, that sort of thing.

I also encourage anyone to let me know what kind of wish list they might have for stuff to go down. I can't promise we'll tick every box on every list, but it'll be good to keep in mind stuff that y'all would like to see.

I'm gonna go pass out. G'night!

Legend posted in another thread today.

I PMed him to check in and to ask for his blessing in keeping going without him, or at least to make sure he wasn't mad.

Hopefully everything's cool.

It's good to know he's okay, at least!

I apologize for my long absence everyone. I'm not mad, upset or anything, I'm fine with everything Chas and Varshanka have done so far with the roleplay, they're doing a wonderful job and I support them, if you need any help I don't mind coming back in some capacity. I just think I needed someone who was better adept at managing stories, I was really out of my depth.

I did offer, at one point, if I recall correctly (and I do), to help you by being a co-GM. But I really didn't get a lot of input from you on what that would entail, so I felt sort of stuck. A few of my PMs were met with silence.

I certainly didn't feel sufficiently aware of your intended direction to write from the perspectives of your GMPCs, and I certainly wasn't certain you wanted me to. I would have loved to help you, but, you know, you didn't help me help you.

Granted, I'm not saying this out of reproach, just, future reference, keeping your people looped in is part and parcel with being a good moderator.

That having been said, I've touched base with Varshanka, and while neither she nor I feel right blocking you out of a thread that you yourself created and initiated, we're a little hesitant that you might bail on us again. I work retail, selling cell phones, and if a store manager ever walked out on a shift they would not qualify to be rehired if they ever came back to ask for another such job.

So. Would you be interested in being a "creative consultant," an advisor on the direction and content of the storyline? We could take your ideas or leave them, but your ideas would be granted a fair quantity of weight given this was your concept to start with and it was a pretty brilliant one with a lot of potential.

You could also, if you felt up to it, take up a character? Perhaps take back Kaldur?

Let us know what you think.

I thought you might be better suited for this kind of thing, but I didn't know how to approach the subject with you, that coupled with some other things, and I backed away without much consideration for anyone else, looking back it was a mistake not to communicate what I was going through.

I completely understand your point here. I apologize for leaving everyone hanging.

I'd be fine with that. I can take either or both characters back, if necessary.

As best as we could determine with Cory, he had been reverted to his four-or-five-year-old Kryptonian self, at least mentally. I suspected he had encountered a psychic attack rather like Psimon in the "Young Justice" episode "Bereft," in which the Superboy of Earth-16 was rendered amnesiac to the point that he possessed none of his Cadmus programming and was pure instinct and animal fury.

We had decided that he could be restrained in a specialized cell at Stryker's Island, where perhaps he could be attended to by specialists while prevented from hurting people.

Given the possibility of severe psychic trauma and retrograde amnesia, I thought perhaps a telepath would be brought in to provide mental therapies in hopes of repairing his fragmented psyche. My initial thought would be that Dubbilex of Cadmus would be accessible to Lex Luthor given that Lex is on Cadmus' Board of Directors in some realities-- and by extension Lex could make staffing decisions at Stryker's given the fact that law enforcement in Metropolis has been largely privatized under his company's letterhead (at least, according to Kelley Bishop's backstory, which I took as canon).

According to the idea I was gestating, Dubbilex would have found it either slow going or impassible, however, suggesting that a more powerful mind would be necessary to restore Val-Zod, perhaps someone on the level of The Martian Manhunter. Since J'onn is gone with the rest of The Justice League, that would leave Rose, but she is a telepathic novice at best and still growing into her abilities. I thought perhaps an ongoing plot thread might involve her slowly helping him come back to himself and thereby developing her paracortical prowess.

In helping him slowly get his memory back, they would dig up clues as to the person or persons who attacked him, and would then in turn get deeper hints as to The Great Darkness that has vanished The Justice League.

Would you be interested in a long-game plot like that, or would you prefer that Val-Zod be restored more quickly? I noticed that you didn't have his name on The New League's roster, and thought perhaps you intended him as more of a supporting castmember.

With regards to Kaldur, I was going to have Lex himself approach Kaldur at Titans Tower, perhaps with Mercy Graves in tow.

The idea is, if you haven't been reading our progress in The OOC, that Lex Luthor is spearheading this New Justice League in the absence of the original League. Partly because The League provides a stabilizing presence, and Lex wouldn't mind having that kind of power at his beck and call, but also because the idea of him creating this line of defense for America and the world would pad the resume of this already-preeminent Presidential candidate. Given that stopping this runaway "Superman" in Metropolis would have been a highly-visible event, he seeks to unite the different players from that scene, extrapolating that PR and using it to his advantage. "Lex Luthor forges a New Justice League with the heroes of Metropolis," that sort of thing.

Because Kaldur represented part of the galvanization that got the team to victory, he very much wants Kaldur front and center in this New League. The trouble is, Kaldur knows that Lex is bad news, but like many superheroes up to and including the now-absent Superman, he can't prove it. That might actually be part of Lex' pitch-- "If I'm up to something with this new team, shouldn't you be around to undermine me, stop me?"

I was also going to have Kaldur ask/insist that Ruby "Hotline" Reed, a fellow Titan with an H-Dial, be added to The New League for her experience and versatility.

Would you be interested in any of that?

Okay, tag to the OOC!

Let's see if we can get this thing to work.

Ruby has just Dialed H-E-R-O. Which means she's going to turn into some random superhero or superheroine with random powers. But rather than my picking them and getting basically whatever power I want whenever I want, I would like you guys to pick.

You can either name a super power or powerset, or name a superhero(ine), and I will either pick an existing hero with that power, or become that named hero, or come up with a Captain Ersatz that has that power or is inspired by that named hero.

Hopefully that's not too dense an explanation.

Bonus points for giving me awkward or unexpected powers or characters, stuff that forces me to think on my feet, this is meant to be a challenge!

(Though I would love the occasional dramatically-timed epic Hero, this should be a last-ditch thing, like we'll never survive unless I get something conventionally useful. A very rare occurrence.)

Extra bonus points for giving me a Legion of Superheroes member or Ben 10 alien or X-Man that fits the above criteria. :D

Wish List:
(to be doled out at the discretion of the tagged OOC, in no particular order, surprise me!)

Ruby from "RWBY." (How poetic would this be? Rubyception!)
Halo from Grrl Power. (This webcomic is a major influence on the thread. You should read it!)
Any of the Heroes from this bio. (Dialing a Dial?)
Kamala Khan, Ms. Marvel.
Any of The Bionic Six.
The Remnant from Earth-24.
Aquawoman from Earth-11. (Big Gun! Only in case of emergency!)
Black Arrow from Earth-32.
Link from "Super Smash Bros." (Because Nintendo!)
The Masked Mallard from "DuckTales."
The Rocketeer.
Kim Possible.

Thanks, guys!

Normally I would have just gone with the first hero/power named, but I'm kinda digging this concept I suddenly have going on now of a Juggernaut/Ant-Man mash-up...

I'll have to save Terra for another time, because I do love me some Earthbending.

I'll get a Hiro/Nathan post going tomorrow. Just assume that Silver Bullet had given his number out to the heroes that were at the last event. :)

Honestly I'm all for just assuming that they got in touch with Nightwing while he was out and about or through some other channels, maybe using the Law Enforcement agencies to get in contact with him, nothing that really needs to be written so I can just wait until the next arc starts unless someone needs him to interact with them for some reason.
