Character Profile : Anaiyah Vex (A.K.A. Annie), Age 24, born 150 years after the Nuclear Aftermath of the 21st century -- Member of the Tribe Nubi'croix.
"Coming Mistress Nephyra!" Annie hollered as she rushed into the animal hide hut that the tribe's elder sat in. She was carrying needed herbs that Nephyra required to create concoctions to heal the sick. The herbs were low in supply so she brought only a few satchels.
"Yes, my child," the nearly blind woman spoke with a withered voice. "Place those in the cauldron and mix it...hurry!" she urged as she looked for a hide-bound book on the shelf. Annie hurried and placed the herbs in as she was ordered and turned around hearing screams. "Nephyra...they're back. I thought we had sent those Scavengers away!"
The elder turned her wrinkled face towards her. "There isn't anything we can do. They'll find what they want and trample their way out of here." Soon enough, the screams stopped and the howls from the Scavengers could be heard in the distance. Annie grimaced as she looked back to the cauldron. "I wish I could have done something.."
"You will in due time, child.." the old woman said as she began to pour the concoction into the vials. "Take these to the women on the village edge. They need it for the children. Then return to me. I have a task for you.." Annie nodded and took the vials to where she was told to. The women nodded with their grim dirt-covered faces and Annie returned back to the elder's hut. "Nephyra, what is this task for me?"
Nephyra handed Annie a large woven satchel and pushed some parchment off into them. "I need you to ask the eastern tribes to send help here or our future will be no longer. You are our only hope, Anaiyah.."
Annie looked to her and nodded, knowing that she was being relied upon. Such a large burden on her shoulders. This world was something she had known for a long time, since her birth. Her mother had died due to complications and Nephyra had taken her in as a babe. Stepping to the village edge she looked out on the landscape -- barren with numerous crumbling structures around. Large rocks that she had heard were once called Skyscrapers were scattered across the horizon. Her tribe was centered on the city once known as Omaha as she had heard in the past, but now, it was nothing but death's doorstep.
She looked back to her village once more and continued on her way. The sun was unbearably hot as she placed a cloth around her head to keep her cool. Annie made her trek -- climbing on numerous objects to get around the obstacles in her way and staying clear of the Scavengers on the edge of the horizon. It wasn't until the sun was high in the sky before she decided to stop for a moment. She was alone out here -- or at least so she thought..
