Garnate, my youngest's last letter to Santa. She asked for a unicorn, a laptop, a baby brother, and a better house. She was maybe 7. It was hilarious!!

Our girls got smart phones last month and they know that's literally all they're getting except for a couple little gifts.

Yes, a light table's more aimed at toddlers. That's sort of what ours looked like except it had a square trough inbuilt over the light so you could fill the trough or have a flat table top sit over the top of it.

Anyway, short story long I'm trying not to go overboard with them this year but they're still getting everything they asked for. I can't find a happy medium. Shopping for them has been a breeze, it's everyone else I'm struggling with.

How old are they? It may be high time to get them to help in their community and appreciate what they have. You guys must have a soup kitchen or shelter. Rather than pile up gifts for themselves have them help pick out and bring stuff for those less fortunate. The less fortunate and homeless not only appreciate food, but personal grooming supplies (which they rarely get) like soap, deodorant, shampoo, shaving cream. Get the kids to find coupons and deals, get them to accompany you to buy this stuff and bring it down to your local shelter. It'll be a big wake up call to them to really experience people having less than nothing, but it will also teach them that Christmas is a time for "giving" and not a smorgasborg of receiving.

My advice for gifts is to stop for a moment, think of where your ideas on gifts were going, then take a sharp right. Go off the beaten path. Think of what each of your recipients does that is different from the mainstream, and find something associated with that. Hope it helps.

If you want it, it's yours. I only keep spare change in it so I can part with it. You can have the spare change, too.

Might be fun to pass the PB&J wallet around to litsters every few months. Leave a fun note inside it for the next person. Next person adds a note to the original note and it gets passed on and on again.
