Where Literotica is blocked...

I find it interesting which free wi-fi places will and will not let me access Lit. I do understand that their aim (presumably) is to keep kids from using their wi-fi to access adult sites, which I think is reasonable enough. You don't want some kid accessing such against the parent's wishes, and, thus, lose said parent as a customer.

Which is why it surprises me that Starbucks has no block at all. I can access Lit at any Starbucks, no problem. Coffeebean & Tea Leaf, on the other hand, will not let me indulge in smut. Nor will Whole Foods. You might wonder what I'm doing reading porn while shopping for organic fruits and vegetables (or not)...well, I'm not shopping. Usually when I'm on Whole Foods wi-fi it's because I'm at some nearby place where the wi-fi isn't very good. So I jump on Whole Food's network....anyway, no smut while you shop for quinoa, evidently :D

Any places that have locked you out of Lit? Any places you thought would lock you out but surprised you by giving you access?

I recently discovered it is blocked at the hospital. Pretty stupid, I mean isn't the goal to make people feel better?

The public library. :D

Although if you go to the counter and prove you are 18 or older they will allow your computer, not one of the libraries, to access porn sites. Just say it's research for a book you are writing. No need to tell the book is an erotic one. ;)

The airport.

Seriously, how was I supposed to let you guys know I was in town?

Or at least keep their minds off their discomfort and anxiety and boredom. I can't think of any drug that will do that better than a porn site

Our local Panera Bread blocks it; I go to the Everyday Café. Don't know how wide the region is for those.

Pron sites are blocked on my local library's servers. Panera blocks pron also. Mickey D's, the BK Lounge, Taco Bell, Arby's, KFC and 5 Guys are all block free. Pron and hamburgers, mmmmm. :D

IMO blocking pron sites at places of business makes about as much sense as declaring a business to be a 'Gun Free Zone'. I mean, criminals don't give a shit about that stuff and it tells them "Hey, here's a place to rob where no one can defend themselves."

The correlation escapes me. I mean, if you want to use this thread to rant about open carry, have at it, but this comparison really makes no sense. In the one instance, you can't access porn sites, and, so, you'll either not frequent that place because you want to access the porn sites, or you'll hold off on accessing them at that place.

In the other instance, if a place won't allow guns then, according to you, criminals will be encouraged to go there.

For these two to be comparable, the argument would have to be that a coffee place that blocks porn encourages pornographers to go there and sell smut because the customers, unable to watch smut while they sip their morning lattes, will be desperate for it. :D

Yep, comparing simply not being given access to porn sites inside a business and the business being robbed by gunpoint despite having a "no firearms allowed inside" sign in the window makes no sense whatsoever.

But then the reasoning seems to go well with the understanding exhibited of gun control.

Sacramento and SF Bay Area markets in the Raleys-NobHill-BelAir chain block LIT -- on browsers. Not on the Android app. My Vizio tablet keeps me entertained whilst I hang around the sandwich bar.

I'm always a li'l bit surprised that my local Wifi cafe allows me to access porn. The other mommy moms sit at a table over from me and wave and I wave back from behind my netbook, mouthing: "What a nuisance, I have to work." as I skim read the latest Paranormal Porn to see if it would be suitable for my review blog.
:D

Blocked at the Piglet Music College, probably just as well, LOL, although most of the time it is an academic college with students over 18. (And age of consent here is 16 too.)

No Wifi at the swimming pool cafe so I edit stories offline. Thank you that person who put the title of their document in big capital letters, so all the other parents with swimming piglets can see I am working on FUCKING FUCKERS FUCKING.

No trouble when we have to go and stay at Outlaw Dad's, and I have noticed his google searches turn up interesting predictive items on the occasions I have borrowed his laptop.

I've been to some McDonald's that allow porn (Lit.) and some that don't. I never know what to expect with my Big Mac.

The unlikeliest place I've found that allows it is the local courthouse. Go figure.

The judges and lawyers need something to keep them entertained when not on the court room.

About a month ago I attended a conference held on the campus of a college prep school in Vermont. They blocked Lit as porn, as do the WiFi services available on planes (at least ones I've been on recently, such as US Airways).

The annoying thing about Vermont was that they had almost no cell phone signal either, so I couldn't use my phone as a personal hotspot either, which you could do if I absolutely needed a Lit fix - S.O.L.

Perhaps they've had a run in or two with Loving Wives trolls?

No, it's to prevent male patients suffering from anemia from passing out all the time. Allocating a quart of blood to a spontaneous erection will do that to you...

Yeah, but if they didn't block it none of those kids would get any work done :D They want to encourage them to do non-anatomical research.

I suppose attorneys have to have access to all kinds of websites. I mean, what if some divorce case is hinging on the wife reading too much GM on Lit?

And I suppose it's also a good way to keep jury members, waiting and waiting and waiting to be called, from getting restless.

Hahaha!

"I can't define obscenity, but I know it when I see it," doesn't mean much if the judge isn't allowed to see anything that might be obscene. :p

True that. Having unlimited access to everything can be important for the case... :)

I'm not surprised that the judges have unlimited access. I was surprised that the general public is afforded the same access. All I know is it made the two hours I spent in line to pay a ticket a little more endurable.

Hah! I knew my comment would rattle someones cage. A simple "Hey, that's off topic" would have sufficed, but nooooo, we gotta have an anti-gun rant. :D

A) The comment wasn't a 'rant' as you put it, it was a statement.

B) Ever notice how many mass shootings occur in 'gun free zones' like schools, colleges, military installations? Coincidence? I think not.

C) Convoluted logic (coffee, porn, etc.) doesn't aid your 'argument' one bit. I contend a ban on either porn or guns in a place of business is ridiculous.

Let's just say we differ on the practice of concealed carry and be done with it. ;)

OK, I'll say it. Both of your posts are totally off target. (And the only ranting I see has been yours--off thread topic). You seem desperate to have a totally off-topic "discussion."

I guess they aren't doing biology :D, but they make them work on all kinds of morally dubious stories! Tristran and Isolde, Der Rosenkavalier which starts with two women cavorting in a bed, one pretending to be a man ...
