X-Men: Crossroads OOC

Ok that makes 4 of us interested in reviving this thread, Professor X started the X-Men with 5 students.
So if we have a Professor, then 2 more players makes a team right?
We need to find a couple girls.
Anyone got a writer in mind we can approach to fill out the roster?

If Vic is interested I'd like to work with him.

If Vic isn't interested does anyone else want to run the thread?

Damn, why didn't I get an email about people responding to this thread? That's annoying.(*fixed it so the email notification is instant now!*)

I find it funny you're in here too "Felix80"!! ;) Were you in the "ORIGINAL" Xmen creative writing group?? Who are you interested in playing???

I think I saw "LuckyVic" post in his Smallville/Superman-ish thread not too long ago, which is why I called him out here(and everyone else)....

I'm trying to get a female friend to consider coming over and playing too. She may just have some "homework"(i.e. xmen cartoons to watch, etc) to do first but I think she'll be interested! ;)

Yayyyy, "Tight_n_ready"!!! Yayyy "shadowlace"!!!! Woo-hooo :) :) :)

Shadow -- of your three choices, I vote JUBILEE out unless she is your favorite. Siryn is cool because of her red hair and Irish accent, and Psylocke is an olllllllld fave of mine!!! :)

*gets a lil' giddy about someone's completely *INNOCENT* choice of ROGUE!!!* Ahahahhaha. ;)

Nah, I wasn't one of the original writers on this thread. I don't think I've been in many group threads on this board, but I'm starting to get the itch.

Tighty, Lacey, good to see you two.

I haven't called a character yet, I'm not sure what the current roster is. I'll call Cypher right now though, specifically that Doug's original power, to think faster for problem solving than other people, not that background psychic shit they came up with in AoA. Make him an expert hacker/mathematician type. Maybe get in some crazy geek sex if one of the girls is playing Kitty.

If Vic isn't interested, I could probably run an X-Men thread in a similar way to the way Jeffinator runs the YJ thread. Give an opening post to the fight scene, list the villains there and let the players write their own battle scenes. Unless someone else wants to do it, then they are more than welcome to GM.

We can give "LuckyVic" a little longer if people want to wait for him, otherwise we can plunge forward without him if we have the desired number of people....

I'm all for doing the same style as in the Young Justice thread as well, that seems pretty successful. I wouldn't mind you 'starting' it up if you'd like -- once we determine exactly who is in it, make the roster/participants definitive -- yet I'd like to perhaps establish some ground rules for the X-Men reality we are tackling.(by the way, Age of Apocalypse was BAD ASSSSS...but then again, I was MORE concerned with Rogue's Astonishing Xmen team and Gambit having his own team in it, than............almost....everything else!!! I almost ALWAYS love alternate realities though, to 'shake things up'! *grin*)

1)I don't want to have these mutants set in the MOVIE-verse. "FOX" raped the hell out of the characters and ANYONE that is a true-blue-fan(atic) knows this all too well, and is wounded much too deeply to have to put up with their bullshit anymore(Xmen 1 was nice because it brought the mutants to the big screen for the first time, X2 was amazing, most especially NIGHTCRAWLER....but the rest were NONSENSE!!!).

2)I think a good reality would be the 90's Xmen Animated Series, which is pretty close to the comics(at least then), more so than any other series there have ever been out there! (i.e. Rogue was NOT a wuss like in the movies, she was a sexy southern belle with her trademark "absorb other people's powers/memories/emotions with but a touch", along with Miss Marvel's strength/invulnerability/flight in tact).

If people are NOT familiar with that cartoon, GO SEE IT NOW! At least the first two seasons. It WAS on Netflix but those bastards are removing it as of today. So DVD it up or stream it up, unless you own them all ready. They really ARE the best representation out there of our merry mutants, at least theme wise, story wise, voice acting wise, etc. The animation/art is dated....but the THEME MUSIC + GAMBIT's voice is goddamn amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

by the way, "Felix80".....someone COULD technically be "WARLOCK" and get a lil' KINKY on your character's ass if you know what I'm sayin'.....hehehhehehheh ;)

Lach, if you want to run a thread I'll join. You wouldn't be stepping on my toes or upsetting me in the least.

If I do start a new thread I would start with an OOC thread and explain the universe there. It would be the Felix-verse. I am likely to start at the end of X-Men 2, as it is a time ripe with potential storylines, and it is familiar to a wide audience. In other words, the most homework anyone would have to do is watch two movies.

I consider X-Men 1&2 to be their own stand alone movie continuity. There were parts of X3 I loved, especially Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde, but the story didn't fit with the first two movies. The Origins movies are acknowledged as a new continuity with one actor being kept over from the first continuity.

Yes, I also liked the 90's cartoon. And X-Men Evolution was quite good too.

I would rather not have Warlock in the thread. I like Warlock. I like Doug. I like Doug and Warlock together. However, Doug has never had a chance to stand on his own two feet as a character. I'd like to give him that chance.

Do you guys want me to start up a new thread?

Okay, I'm on my phone just about to take shower...post workout. So I can't type much.

But give me about twenty minutes - half hour so I can get on my laptop and explain...further explain...my "geek-dom" rage in going along with the FOX'in movie universe, where NO respect what-so-ever is tributed to the SOURCE material, characters and universe alike. I'll be the first, as an X-Men fan to admit that continuity/consistency/and-coherency in the comics of the X-universe can definitely be trickier than tricky to keep up with(almost as bad as all of the multi/alternate worlds DC had going on PRE "52", but....I also don't like my favorite characters getting RAPED.

Again. Rogue. Need I say more???? She pretty much is a "Jubilee"(no offense to anyone that likes Jubilation Lee of course), meek and underwhelmingly almost ineffective personality and power wise. And miscast.

Shower time. More to come!

Anyway. I'll be brief. I believe in QUALITY versus QUANTITY anyday, everyday, all the time pleeeeeeease.

The 90's X-men Animated Series is about Quality.

The FOX-men Universe that those corporate IDIOTS keep shitting out, with as many mutants as possible in them, which by the way, they ARE all within the same.....screwed up continuity, sans Hugh Jackman in all of them, and Patrick Stewart in all but the last one.

First three movies. Three different Colossus actors? Three different Kitty Pryde actresses? A Pro Wrestler for Sabretooth? Liev made MINCE MEAT outta his ass in the Origins movie easily(and he was one of the few redeeming qualities of that movie -- my BOY's accent-less accent was NOT!)

Quality OVER quantity. Always. A little more homework? Maybe. Possibly. Yes. I think the end result would be SO MUCH more rewarding? Or there's the easy way out......*smirk*

By the way, if 'we' as a team/group decide to go with the 'easy' way option and do the movies..........I would INSIST that ROGUE at least is NOTHING like the movies, because she was an abomination to her character. And not in a good way either.....

*stops for now*

90's cartoon universe works for me,I just want to play.

Still calling dibs on Nightcrawler if thats ok with everyone, but I can do someone else if it's not.

Other characters I would be willing to consider are Colossus,Beast,or Morph.

Just let me know.

I haven't seen the '90s animation series, although I would like to, and I have no access to it, but that would be fine if someone laid out the situation at the start.

I agree that the comics Rogue is much better than the movie Rogue, and that is despite the talents of the actress. I remember "Welcome to the X-Men, Rogue.. Hope You Survive the Experience" to this day, and no way was that lady much like the waif in the film. And what they did to Rogue is secondary in comparison to the damage they did to both Scott and Jean.

It's hard to say whom Charles might hook up with, though. Jean should be with Scott, unless Emma's around. There was a great illustrated story with Charles fucking Storm, but I don't recall any hint of that from any other source. Kitty is so young in comparison but there was always something there, but I think she looked at him as a father figure -- and besides, if someone wants to play Doug Ramsay, the great untold story of Doug and Kitty *needs* to be told, and I hope to see it written out here in loving detail.

"spazmodious": I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use Nightcrawler. He's simply awesome! Good call ;)

"tcost": I didn't hate Jean, but she did seem too "old" for the movie Scott for sure. I definitely didn't like Storm at all, for her personality. I thought she was way too 'vulnerable' and weak willed.....she was nothing like the stronger-leader-capable character from the comics. [As an aside, would it be weird for you NOT to be in control of the storyline, especially since you would be in charge of Professor Charles Xavier?? Does that make sense? For example, if I were to be running the story or "Felix80" were to....your character SHOULD be in the know-how all ready and help propel/navigate the story, instead of in this example....perhaps not really know WHAT is going on? Hmm, or maybe I'm not creatively thinking of this enough??? Just a thought...]

I think it's fine if you haven't seen the animated series. Basically, for those that have NOT read the comics, I'd like for them to at least check out the series.....not so much for the storylines but to brush up on the characters for their powers and personalities, since again they are very closely representative of what's true to the comics, as it was from the 90's. That being said, "shadowlace", you mentioned PSYLOCKE/JUBILEE/and-SIRYN all on your own......which makes me think you know the characters/universe. Am I right? Have you read the comics or seen some of the cartoons??? :)
=========================================
I guess, if need be, I wouldn't REALLY be opposed to the actual 'setting', right after Xmen 2......I just want to make sure we get the characters and 'essence' right....

Yep I am a Marvel girl, I prefer Marvel. I've seen all the movies and the cartoons. If we are going setting wise though I like the 90s cartoon or X-Men evolution they are far better in my opinion.

Yayyy, "shadowlace"!!! Love that you are a "Marvel Girl" -- I'm totally more into MARVEL myself as well!! And I couldn't agree with you more on the cartoons...............I was just trying to compromise a bit ;)

Do you know who you are leaning toward, character wise??

Lachiyous, since Charles should be able to provide wise advice and have a lot of information on which to base it, there would surely be times when it would be good for the GM to feed me some information. Charles can make mistakes, though, or there wouldn't be much of a story unless the team was way outmatched. (Which should happen sometime, but not right away.)

Scott should have been the same age as Jean, or a year older, but the movie was written to make her much more a love interest for Logan than for Scott. I think that that's why they handled the casting the way that they did, she needed (in their vision) to be a suitable leading lady for Hugh Jackman.

"tcost": I guess that means you are NOT interested in helming the story here, huh?? ;)

Fox just should stop making comic book movies. Please. Never again. Pleeeeeeease. Those damn money grubbers! If they would hand the rights over to Marvel, if Sony would hand the Spidey rights over to Marvel........I would be.........I couldn't even tell you, I'd be BEYOND myself!!! ;)

"shadowlace": I don't see why not :)

By the way, I invited one more female participant.....we'll see if she's interested as well. Stay tuned.....;)
