I made friends here eleven years ago, when there was much more joking around and flirting in this forum.

I was just 43, and didn't know anything. When I started here I actually thought Jewish women were all circumcised, like the men, at 8 days old. And I was no better informed when it came to writing style. I thought that you could start a sentence with a comma, or even an at-sign!

So I learned a lot here, like I did at military school, about sex and discipline.

I'm grateful to the people here, too few to mention, who guided me through the formative years of my mid-life crisis.

I'm now happy in myself. I'm happy in lots of people, actually. I'm particularly happy in Og.

I frequent the Playground, always have. I pop in over here off and on, and for a while I was here more often than I was on the playground, but I never truly felt, nor do I feel like I am an AHer, though I consider many that do see themselves as AHers, friends, or good acquaintances and I enjoy posting with them, as Litsters/friends. I don't post with them as an AHer

All in all, I'm a Litster.

I recall when one of the first "AH Lit-togethers" was in the planning stages, a Playgrounder asked me if she could come along, even though she wasn't an AHer. She ended up becoming a great friend to many here, and helped organize other Lit-togethers.

Has this place changed?

In my opinion, no. Not really. I've changed and I believe the people who pop in now and then have changed. But Lit. - no. The people haven't. The admin. is obviously more busy and unable to keep up on some things, but that's going to happen when something grows and grows and grows. We, the online lovers of Lit., adapt to our surroundings. So we're changing, not Lit.

Sometimes I come in here and I think, I don't belong, people hate me, I'm a newbie, I'm stupid. Then I remember that this place is what people who come into it make it and I'm one of those people now. I realise that I think I'm stupid because the tired old voice in my head sometimes takes over, misinterpreting what people said so that it can make me feel down. I re-read what people said and I realise they're joking along with me, not laughing at me. And even if they're laughing at me, the world is probably better for a laugh.

I go back to Facebook now and then to the lovely women I know there (especially if my lesbian friend is online and posting pictures of lovely women I'd like to know ), oh and the cub I tease on there for the good of his soul <snerk> but I like it here so I come back for some fun in the sun.

I post something and totter back to Stepford sniggering in my high heels. My world feels better for the laughter I shared in here.

You can sometimes get good answers to questions about writing too.
