Extended Emgagement

a rather muddled idea this morning, chickadees, but make of it what you will:

the essence is simple: a couple that for some reason keep staying engaged but never marry. From there on, I just have questions, mostly:

~ is it her that won't marry because he is too chicken to ask her father? or for religious reasons?
~or he won't marry her because he promised to care for his mother or grandmother after Dad died?
~ are they indulging in mad passionate sex while not married?
~ or is one celibate? or both?
~ if one or both celibate, what about virginity?
~ if celibate or virgin, where does the sex fit in and what sort?
~ what's the ending ? wedding sex? I wedding sex!!!!

I think they do not marry because they fear falling into the routine they see others in, they fear familiarity and complacency; thus, they not simply date but pretend to carry on an illicit affair, everything they do is with passion and a sense of danger.

That was the first five years of my own marriage. One day I will finish that book. Until then, run with the idea SirHugs!

They indulge in mad passionate sex and the sex is so good they don't have the time to get married because they can't keep their hands off of each other.

My bent towards this would be the male protagonist refusing to marry her because she's a virgin. He doesn't want to get married only to find out she has no interest in sex or maybe he believes in the equality of sexes and since he is not a virgin, feels she should "test the waters" first.

The girl--being somewhat shy though attractive (think diamond in the rough)--confides to her girlfriend and so to make her more appealing, they shop for some sexy clothes and she gets a complete makeover.

Meanwhile the guy goes bar hopping with his buddies and confides his fears to his buddies, who were the main instigators in his thoughts about not fully tying the knot with a virgin and not knowing if she'll enjoy sex or not. After several drinks, he calls it a night and leaves.

As the buddies sit around and chat, in walks this incredibly sexy, sultry woman. They guy's best friend decides to hit on her, not recognizing her until he walks up to her at the bar...


The girl ends up sleeping with him, because she feels more comfortable with his friends than strangers, and finds out she loves, in fact CRAVES sex. Neither she or his best friend tell him about it, and she slowly branches out to the other friends, strangers, maybe even his boss or her teachers, becoming a sex fiend, enjoying "strange" too much and too often until SHE is the one holding off the wedding....


Now that I think about it, that might work, LOL...have to remember this storyline when I'm thinking of something new

For me, the "tease" and anticipation in an erotic story are the most arousing elements. This basic idea has a lot of potential for teasing (both ways) and built up anticipation.

I think I'd shoot for an atmosphere of naughty innocense. They're both virgins and they're waiting for marriage to have actual sex for religious reasons. They're waiting to get married because her father, being rather traditional and overly protective of his sweet little daughter, wants his daughter's fiance to be established financially and in a career before he allows her to marry.

I picture this boy and girl hopelessly in love and almost uncontrollably attracted to each other, but still, somehow, they manage to not cross the line of actual sex.

Wow. Your original post was over 1800 words in length. You wrote a story. Or a very detailed scene if you do like cosure in your stories. Perhaps you should take another look at it, see if you want to add anything or not, and submit it.
