I have started using it to shave my legs, instead of shaving gel. Amazingly, my legs no longer feel so itchy that I'd rather cut them off then shave again.

I was wondering if you have any opinions on retinol-based creams, more specifically RoC products? I know about the drawbacks, but I was curious if you had any knowledge to impart - the interweb is woefully inadequate, and I can't seem to find any comparison sites.

Is RoC any different from the new Neutrogena with Retinol?

Based on my own experience with RoC products and comparing them to Neutrogena...I admit I strongly prefer Neutrogena. The products seem to work better, faster and have finer quality ingredients. The few comparisons I've seen online seem to agree with my own experiences.

For the money and time spent on Retinol products, I'd purchase Neutrogena before I'd get RoC, all together Neutrogena works better, and I've seen some complaints with RoC causing serious rashy-type irritations.

For sensitive skin and budget-minded ladies, Neutrogena is the winner.

Well, as long as you won a Nobel prize I guess I can trust you. Sir G wants me to wear blue eye shadow, but tastefully. To me, those two terms are mutually exclusive. Anyhow, I have tried to tell him that my brown hair with subtle blonde highlights and brown eyes will not go with blue eye shadow, but he insists I give it a try and he will decide up or down. Of course, my first impulse is to make it really loud and tacky, but the danger there is I get punished for insubordination, or worse, he likes it . So I want to give him what he wants without looking like a complete fool or a prostitute, or a foolish prostitute. My other thought is to just go with a very subtle blue eyeliner or another color, but again, he said blue eyeshadow!

So what do you think? I have a round face with puffy cheeks, pale skin. I have full lips, but a small, round mouth. I finally am getting my chin back after having lost it after the babies. I'm begging for your professional makeup fairy help. One more thing, he picks out my lipstick and it's always a glossy ruby red . Luckily, my teeth have stayed very white. My former Dom told me the first and only thing that men think of when they see my small, round mouth with big, ruby red lips. Try a pale blue shadow. I have brown eyes, too and occasionally wear a silvery blue shadow. The look is much subtler than a royal blue shadow which is what you may be picturing.

Electric 1960's-Waitress blue isn't your only option! Navy is a highly wearable shade that isn't just for eyeliner!

Hi SatinDesire,

Like a lot of women I have a little bit of facial hair above my lips. Because of this, there's a little bit of skin discoloration. When I wax my upper lip, it takes care of most of the darkness, but there's still a bit of a darker tone left. I've tried concealers, but it turns the darker area into a grey-ish color which obviously makes it look like I'm hiding a 'stache. Maybe it's that I have't found the right shade of concealer? Even with a yellowish color corrector, I can still see a faint discoloration. Is there a way I can spot lighten that area of my face? I don't want to wear so much makeup to hide it, I'd rather treat the problem at the source.

Satin, thanks for the wise advice, I guess I owe an apology to prostitutes everywhere for my harsh words about blue eyeshadow. I also need to inform you that the same man that "hit the nail on the head" with the blue eyeshadow is the same one that gave me the ruby red lipstick. He didn't say, "Wear this when it it will compliments your other makeup." It was more like "Here wear this from now on." I mentioned this thread to him when we talked on the phone tonighgt so I hope he reads your advice and will let me tone down the lipstick when I wear the eyeshadow. I'll practice a couple of times, my daughter will like doing that with me. Thanks!

Please point him in my direction, and I hope he lets you wear something else other than bright glossy red on your lips. Finding a "Focus point" in your makeup is the way to pull off a strong, dark, or vibrant look, if you have more than one, you start to look more "Editorial" and less natural and approachable.

And YES! About the practice! Great idea, working out what shape your shadow should be and how many colors you'll need to blend it and get the look right to you and what suits your face the most. There are a lot of things you can do to adjust it, and the more times you practice it before you wear it out, the better it'll look!

Satin: I have so much to update you on makeupwise. Sir was nice enough to read your posts and he let me experiment with different colors of lipstick. Then we went to the mall and went to one of the high end stores that is fun to shop at and we talked to a "makeup artist" there. The bimbo really made me mad flirting with Sir G, all the while acting like I wasn't even there. I lost it and almost strangled her, after that she was more helpful. Sir got a big chuckle out of my "jealous rage". The upshot is that he has decided to give me some latitude in choosing my makeup, as long as I stay within his guidelines . I really don't understand how he chooses what to micro-manage me on and what he gives me complete freedom in, Whatever!

In the interest of science, I decided to test what my former Dom told me. He said with my full lips and small, round mouth when I wear a glossy, bright red lipstick any man the looks at me will instantly think of me servicing them. I tried meeting Sir wearing red lipstick and then applying it after being around him for a while. My results show that 60% of the time I am on my knees in 10 minutes or less. My sample size is small right now, so I'll have to keep up my research . I've also tried that at work and men stare at my mouth with the loud lipstick on, to the point of it being so awkward I took it off.

One more thing and I'll shut up, I have lost quite a bit of weight (too much according to Sir), my boobs have shrunk more than a cup size , my hair is longer and back to my natural brown, I'm dressing much better now (not sluttly) and wearing a little more makeup, some people who haven't seen me in a while don't recognize me. It's amazing.

Well if you're going to rock the bright red lipstick, you definitely want to keep a lighter eye on. For a real pin up look, try a thick cat-eye black liner, it's on trend this Spring and looks great with curled hair and A-line skirts!

Dear Spritzer,

Finishing sprays are, in a sense, hairspray for your face. They work much like Primers do, except instead of wearing them beneath your makeup, you wear them over to seal and set the finished product. Largely, finishing sprays are unnecessary for girls who don't wear makeup during strenuous activity or extreme weather, and are unnecessary for girls who are using Primer properly.

However, for girls with very oily skin who frequently experience foundation breakdown, or girls who wear foundation in very hot or very cold weather regularly and don't use Primer, finishing sprays can be a great way to ensure proper foundation integrity!

Whether you should invest in one largely depends on if you feel like your foundation simply can't hold out against the conditions it's in. It's not necessarily for everyday wear unless your skin is VERY OILY (then I might recommend you see a dermatologist, in case the overproduction of oils is a medical condition!) or you're wearing makeup daily in extreme conditions.

That being said, truthfully Primers are my go-to product to reach for when it comes to makeup retention and integrity, due to their ability to correct skin flaws and provide skin care as well as retain cosmetic structure. Many primers have luxurious textures and moisturizing and anti-aging ingredients that can offer you many other benefits other than just makeup retention.

For the money, Primer will offer you benefits that makeup finishing sprays cannot, however, if you're working on-camera, underwater, or in VERY hot/cold weather regularly, a Primer/Finishing Spray combo might be necessary.

For the everyday cosmetic user, Primer is your friend.

If you're still interested in trying one, ingredients to look for would be anything that might offer you benefits like vitamins, antioxidants and aloe, and avoid any sprays that contain silicone or alcohol, as they can aggravate skin conditions and cause unpleasant drying or breakouts.

They do make cosmetics more difficult to remove, but that is the point of the product in the first place. Warm water and soap/cleanser/makeup remover, however, should be more than sufficient to break up the binding polymers and release the products properly. To make sure your skin is thoroughly cleansed after using finishing sprays, however, I strongly recommend you USE A TONER after cleansing just to make sure you get every micron out of your pores.

Color should match complexion. Too light is just as bad as too dark. Depends on your skin tones.

I'm using something else that was recommended to me that is similar for the same type of skin, but it's not quite the same.

So my question is: what gives? And how can I avoid this in the future and/or find something comparable? I'm not in the mood to spend money on test driving make-up that I'll use maybe three times. It's wasting time, money and products, which I loathe, so when I find something I like, I really use it. Is there a surefire way to find something similar?

The reason that products are discontinued are economic.
Products last for months, if not years.
In order to enhance sales, the manufacturers change products. It encourages people to purchase more product, especially when the user has found something "perfect" and then has to search around for a suitable replacement. In doing so, she might buy 3 or 4 replacements before finding something acceptable.
Any manufacturer that denies this is just misleading you.
I say, where practical, when you find that perfect product, purchase some extra so you won't be left searching when it is discontinued. It WILL happen.
