I am free....
Today I declared my freedom and deleted my stupid facebook page.
No more endless e-mails like
"do you know so and so and their mother's uncle?"
"You have notifications pending!"
So and so just posted another meaningless detail about their life or another picture of their puppy or ugly baby!
No more so and so liked or disliked this! No more so and so "tagged" you
Most of all no friend requests from fucking losers I went to high school with because asshole If I wanted to keep in touch with you I would have.
And even the girls that were hot back then if I do go to their page are either ugh or just keep posting pics of the aforementioned kids and puppies.
The all time low and what finally made me roll my eyes enough to do this was a woman posting "got my period, and the cramps from hell!"
Really? The world needs to know this? I need to know this?
Ironically this facebook page wasn't even under my name, but my pen name. A bunch people said you have to use FB to market so I had a page for someone who really never existed.
But what did disturb me was when I set it up it was not under my real name and with no real info yet they matched me up with other people I did know in RI and even worked with so how they figured who and where I was was a little disturbing and more disturbing was the authors I linked myself with were worse than old ladies with their damn posts
so good riddance!

Gone the way of MySpace, etc.

i'm on it only for the fact the little bit of family i keep in touch with and a few friends are there and that is the only way they keep in touch. i keep my list very small of who has access to my page.
i solved the bullshit problem by unsubscribing from those who post a lot of dribble. if i want to see about them, i have to go to their page.
you get tired of the pet pics, food pics, minor comments of" i'm so pissed off, i'm going to go do laundry, drama from hell." a lot of shit posted there is stuff people would never say in public, but what they are thinking of.
gets stupid.
the ones who have profile pic on there of their dogs, or cats, or kids, are the ones who do not want you to know what they look like now.

This is kind of spooky, I have read about this "profiling" stuff but I have never experienced it personally. In fact I have been anti-profiled. I have a friend in Hong Kong who is Chinese and sometimes posts in that language to her local friends. So I get a "do you know" message about a bunch of people who do not speak English.  You never know with Facebook. |

Facebook is probably the only thing I don't do online. I have 2 accts, but the only thing I do on them is update my profile pics. My youngest uses it mostly.
I have one attached to my tumblr so every time I tumblr a pic, it shows up on the fb.

I've never trusted FB nor used it for any reason. My oldest son opened a FB account for me against my wishes, but he meant well at the time. I've only been on it twice to ensure it's locked. My kids stopped using FB before it went public on the stock market.
Last week, I got a text at 5 AM from someone I didn't know. The # was from FB and I never gave them my cell # or new yahoo email. There was also an email from FB on my yahoo account requiring an update to the dead FB account. I sent an email inquiry to FB asking how they got my personal info and demanding they never contact me again and to lose any info they have on me.
