So it's raining (again). [ no change there ]
The temperature's up a bit so it's not too cold, but it is persisting down.
Out local Postman (bless 'im) goes about his duties wearing suitable gear, which is bright red [so oncoming cars can see him in time].
"What d'ya reckon the chances are for a 'no watering your garden or it'll be stand-pipes' this summer? " I said by way of Greeting.
"No chance," he said, "it's the wrong type of rain."

I think I should explain the "wrong type" remark.
Some years ago, during a bad winter which featured loads of snow, the Rail company representative made a hideous gaffe.
Trains had been missing, late or even broken down.
When asked why, given that the railway had over a hundred years of experience in dealing with snow on the rails, etc., he said "It's the wrong type of snow".
Later on, it was explained that the designers of the engines had made a few assumptions but the particular snow encountered was not on the list.
"The wrong kind of snow" passed into legend. |
