a free speech matter on 'that other site'
If you are a facebook user, you probably got the long wordy letter and you might have deleted it after a cursory skimming. Well, there was a link hidden in it. Ifyou clicked on it, you would read lots more words, and maybe you would find this link;
https://apps.facebook.com/fbsitegovernance/
If you go to that link, you will see lots more words. Wade trough them, if you feel you must, but more importantly, go to the "vote" tab and choose the button that says; "EXISTING DOCUMENTS" and vote for it.
Here's why you should: http://www.latimes.com/business/tech...,1979788.story
Make this viral! Today is the 6th and voting closes on the 10th.

Well if the company pays any attention to the vote "Existing Documents" will triumph. Big 'if', of course.

Don’t know if I ever told you, but you were the first person I “met” on Lit. You invited me into Molly’s thread and made me feel at home. I really appreciated that. You also prolly know more about the “doings” of our family than just about anybody else on Lit. That’s cuz you care and are appreciated for being you.--posthumous message from Safe_Bet. And I still care and I still love her. Rest in the Light, Suzy.

I logged in first. No trouble with the usual pages.
The page came up and then faded out. In the middle was a "greyed out"
"Log in with facebook to vote".
Could it be "applicable only to the Americas ?"

If Facebook doesn't want it to reach the 300 million needed so that they have to obey the results of the vote, you had better believe it.

Any read about the judge who ordered a Yelp user to change her review?

Just one more reason I'm glad I don't have an account on Facebook.

Well I did read about it in my WebProNews newsletter... so maybe it's buried in the more traditional papers (if they even reported about it at all).

Normally, I'd agree, but I have a widely-spread family and facebook seemed like a good idea to keep my family (and the odd friend) informed of my progress whilst being treated.
That and the fact that it's the only way I get to hear what's going on with the Organisation.
And - surprise! - It seems to be working.
At the time I saw it, the vote was going (in round figures)
75,000 FOR the new docs,
530,000 for the old ones.
Personally, I wish we could switch off that damned Timeline cr#p and have it as it was (or an option therefore).

My personal opinion is that if you care about internet freedom from surveillance and free speech on the internet, you shouldn't even have a facebook account.
By having one, all you do is put money in the hands of the people that work with the tyrants to take your free speech rights and your right to privacy away..

Hah! 'Existing' is eating 'Proposed' lunch.
One more day to vote!

The ruling ordered the user to cease posting their complaints after the contractor filed suit for damages against the Yelp user. [The cease and desist order also applied to the users similar posts on Angies List.]
This transpired in the Washington DC area - frivolous lawsuits are a staple of life here.

The judge ruled that she could not make unsubstantiated claims (E.G. "I think they stole my jewelry").
Seems fair to me.

Way short of the 300 million needed though.
