The web cam I used to own could take still photos. Besides, if you're using a web cam for live video, I've never heard of them being able to record a movie.

I don't know anything about computers, but yes there are programs to make movies with web cams. A lot of vids and pics all over the web made with web cams!
The one on this pc was "Quick Cam Express" from Loitech. It wasn't recording an already made movie - it was making one recording us

I have made a couple of "home movies" but find it very hard to watch it back. Its not that I have more body issues than anybody else but seeing myself from another angle is not erotic.
Does anybody else get sidetracked by picking at how their body looks?

There are, for sure.
The scary part is, there are also programs that let you record web cams over yahoo or whatever, so the anonymous fun you're having may be saved by the person at the other end. So, therefore, be careful about showing your face if you're having web cam fun with someone.

I'd likely have to put that out of my own brain to enjoy it. But assuming you're sufficiently into your partner, I would think you could focus your attention away from your own imperfections.

That could/would be scary! I received mine in 2000 and probably quit using it by around 2002 or so.

I had always assumed that it was impossible to record something you're viewing like that. People I trust (who know about that stuff) told me otherwise.
It's (unfortunately) a good PSA to pass along, for others who are naive and wanting to show off.
