What if in the near future, a vaccine for HIV is discovered? The only trouble is that to be activated, it has to enter women vaginally, and males through their penile opening? Then the clinical trials are disappointing, except for a small group of people who share two traits identified by questioning- they are all just months over 18, and all had intercourse within hours of treatment?

Further testing confirms that the combination of semen and vaginal hormones has a triggering effect on the vaccine.The researchers try to create an injectable substitute, but it seems that the woman must orgasm to have the best effect.

Of course once this is announced, the political controversy erupts between those who say that supervised sex for medical sake should be encouraged, and the religious right who still support abstinence.

I picture the story focusing on at least three characters, all just turned eighteen, and how they react to the news that they are due for THE TREATMENT.

One religious lass plans to object, or will she?

The other two are school classmates who the clinic has randomly matched up since neither has a sexual partner to bring along.

Well...... if you are religious enough not to want to have sex for the treatment, you are probably also religious enough not to be having casual sex with high-risk partners in the first place!

Might make more sense to make the disease something non-STD related, like cancer. Or better yet, some new fictional plague invented just for the story. Especially if it targets religious folks for some reason, thus increasing the conflict and therefore the drama.
