Tom came to the casino alone. He had tried to get someone to join him, called up a guy friend, a couple of girls he knew, but nobody wanted to join him. So he showered, shaved, put on some khakis and a golf shirt and went alone. "How sad," he thought to himself, "kind of pathetic in a way, off to the casino to gamble. Signs of a problem." He chuckled to himself as he walked in from the parking lot. It was a weeknight and not that busy, so he strolled around trying to find a good table. There were 10 dollar and 25 dollar tables, he wasn't feeling like he wanted to lose his money too quickly, so he tried to find an open 10 dollar table.

He rounded a corner and found a table that had about five people and a couple of empty seats. He asked a couple of the players if it had been good so far, they said it had been, so he decided to sit down. Finding the open seat, it was next to a beautiful, young blonde, who had a large stack of chips in front of her. He smiled as he sat down and said hello as he got his money out and laid it on the table in front of him to get his chips.

***Tom is 5'10, 180 pounds, short brown hair, blue-green eyes. He is decently built but not ripped with muscles...he takes care of himself. ***

Cassidy Jane Lloyd, who prefers to go by CJ, was having a rather successful night, despite her reason for being here. Her girlfriend Mel, had begged CJ to go with her tonight on a double date..

Needless to say that the date didn't last. It wasn't that the guy wasn't CJ's type, but for some reason, when one talks nothing but themself, it's usually the sign of a problem.

So she told him that she was going to the ladies' room... well, she sort of got lost on the way. Not that she didn't mind but she was sure...what was his name? Oh well, not important...

CJ knew the basics of Blackjack but that was about it. It had to be beginner's luck is all, but she had started out with only $50 and was now well over that, as one could tell by the chips in front of her.

The other people around were so concentrated on the game that no one bothered her, nor did they answer her when she either made a joke OR talked to them... oh well, they were to play...this was certainly better than ol' what's his name talking about himself...

With a bright smile, CJ looked at the new comer and the rest of the table waited as he got his money. A cocktail waitress set down another Coke for CJ and walked off, with a quick sip, she nudged the newcomer as she set her cup down, "Hey, you better watch it...these guys will talk your ear off.." she told with him a roll of her eyes but still, she smiled at him to let him know she was joking...

****
CJ stands at least 5'3" while in 2 inch high heels, her waist length blonde hair is pulled back into a fashionable pony tail (think Sandra Bullock on The Proposal), she's wearing a blue velour cocktail dress with matching heels.

Tom smiled at CJ and chuckled at her joke. "They won't shut up, huh," he smiled as he said it so she would know that he got the joke. She was quite the looker in her blue dress. He wondered why she was so dressed up, and frankly he knew that he looked kind of sloppy next to her.

"You're mighty dressed up, aren't you. I'm Tom, by the way, and you are doing a great job of making me look like a slob." He laughed again, so she was still aware that he was a pretty friendly person and liked to joke. "And if you see that cocktail waitress come by again, flag her down, would you, I need a good Beam and coke. Would you like one?"

He put down his first bet while talking, and managed to win 10 dollars with a 20 showing to the dealer's 18.

"Has the table been going good so far...well for anyone other than you, I should ask?"

"CJ..." she answered as she looked down at her dress and giggled, "Trust me, it's a long story. Nice to meet you Tom. As for the table..it's been hit and miss so far but then again, it's all in how you play the cards."

Her eyes were bright with humor when she looked at the dealer... her 14 against his 18. She gave it a thought and tapped the tabled for another card... a K and it seemed that everyone at the table groaned for her.

Not CJ, she could only laugh and mock a cry as the dealer took went on to the next person... she looked at Tom and laughed, "Such is life...gotta take a risk." She said as she took a sip of her drink.

"Nice to meet you CJ," Tom said, "and if you want to share the story, I certainly hope that my money lasts long enough for me to be here a long time." He chuckled as he collected his money and laid down another bet.

"I agree about taking a risk, besides, you didn't have a lot of choice against his 18. Now we just need to see some 16s from the dealer so that risk is not nearly as big." He waived over the cocktail waitress he saw walking by in the distance. "How about a Beam and Coke please, and for CJ here, a glass of white wine." He smiled at CJ and added, "I hope that you don't mind. If you do, then just think of it as me taking a risk."

Tom looked as the cards came out. His first up card was a 9, second also a 9 while the dealer's up card was a 5. "Now see this is what I was talking about," as he split his fingers and tapped the table to indicate a split. First new card was a Q, and Tom stood on that. Second card was a 2. "Geez...they're trying to take all my money at once," as Tom put down his third bet to indicate the double down on the 11. "I sure hope that this works, " he commented to CJ as the dealer moved on to her and waited for her bet. He glanced over again at CJ as she made her bet, enjoying how hot she looked in the dress and again, internally, feeling woefully underdressed next to her.

"Wine?" CJ said with a smile, "Well, I think that sort of risk is one worth taking. I think that just may have earned you the privledge of hearing my story...but trust me, it's not as exciting as it seems.." she said as she continued with her own bet.

Concentrating on the hand, CJ had an Ace and 2, "Oh great...thanks.." she said to the dealer, her tone was nothing but teasing. She had been having a great night so far, probably more fun than she would've had with what's his name date guy.

There were several hands that passed when her and Tom's drinks finally arrived. Just then it was time for the dealers' to switch tables so CJ took that time to turn to Tom, "I was out on a date... and well, my date...he couldn't get enough of himself, so I left." She told Tom simply. "Do you think that was rotten of me?" she asked as she took a sip of her wine.

"Rotten? Not at all," Tom answered as he took a sip of his drink that had just arrived. He was doing pretty well with the cards as well. "If he was that full of himself, it is only possible that the date was going to head downhill. On that note, I am quite glad that you decided to come here to the casino and even more glad that I sat next to you. Looks like you've been doing pretty well tonight."

The dealer's next upcard for both Tom and CJ were Kings, followed by 10s for each. Two blackjacks, back-to-back. Not even thinking, Tom turned to CJ and gave her a big hug as he had placed a bigger bet and they both had made a great deal with the 3:2 odds on the blackjack.

"How about that, " Tom added as he pulled away. "Here's hoping to more and more of those," as he offered up his glass for a toast. Tom pulled his chair a bit closer to CJ's as a bigger guy sat down next to him. "Hope you don't mind me getting a little closer," he whispered to CJ as the guy took up a lot of room.
