silent movies are weird, but overtly racist silent movies are even weirder.

i've wathed bits and pieces of it before. honestly i find it kinda boring.

It's very interesting that people who see it for the first time catch themselves rooting for the Klan.

That's what a propaganda film is supposed to do. Textbook definition.

First movie to be shown at the White House, too.

the saddest thing is that i'd totally bone a few of the actresses if they weren't all dead and shit.

That movie is a great piece of American history that shows blacks for what they were like back then. Try to remember that they were from Africa which is not so civilized (to say the least). Back then the Klan stood for justice and American values. they stood for family and a better way of life, man I love that movie.

Look on the bright side, a century from now folks are gonna laugh their asses off at most of our cherished beliefs and practices. Like us, they'll know that the old timers were silly, naive, drooling fools.

At the time the movie was released it was considered one of the greatest films ever made. Like all history it should be judged in the context of it's own time. America was a different place in those days, the reconstruction had taken a terrible toll on the nation, the Klan in the middle of it's second birth, had literally millions of members.

Yeah, that's known as the BYRD standard.
