The echoing sounds of steel on steel rang out across the trees of the forest, each one sounding out harder than the next. Between the ringing of clashing blades, the faint, but audible whispers of growls and hisses passed swiftly along the wind. It was the sound of two students, interlocked in a harsh duel for supremacy over the martial arts. Jaster, the male of the two, Bent low ducking his head under one of his opponents arcing slashes, and he noted how clearly he could hear the edge of her blade cutting the wind as it passed just over his head. Dammit! He thought in his mind, as he rolled beside her, missing narrowly her arcing slice that came in at his hip, as he retreated back to safety. "Come back here!" Danica, the female, called toward Jaster as she came in after him, holding her twin scimitars out at the ready. Jaster noticed her imposing ascent toward his figure, and flipped to a standing positioned his twin long swords coming out at her in a cross, parrying the rough offensive she had pinpointed toward his throat. Jaster Growled in her face, using his superior strength to overwhelm her grace, sending her back peddling as he kept their blades locked where they were.

Danica hissed as she felt her feet being pushed back by his strength, and shook her head fiercely. "Do you truly think that's all it would take!" She shot toward him through her frustration, and pivoted to the left, sending his blade slanting, and giving her the leverage she needed to push his crossed swords back enough to free her own. Jaster, however, was on the ready as well, and as his blades slipped downward he bent low and performed a twisting motion, as he held his blades out wide. The movement would cause a near whirlwind like slash, that would easily take out her feet if she wasn't careful to deal with the attack. Danica howeve, knew Jasters tactics well, and merely jumped her feet off the ground, causing his blades to wisp beneath her, before she pivoted her weight left, and rolled across the ground, coming up on one knee to stare him in the face. Jaster stared back, locking eyes with her, as he twirled his blades in his hands, and shot to her in a cocky tone. "Were just getting started." He said, a confident grin crossing his lips. Jaster then raised his blades again, and came in at her sweeping one blade, tip first across the ground as he ran, and pushed the other forward to block what would no doubt be her exit jump.

Danica sighed, as she witnessed his oncoming assault, and knew that she had but one chance to get out of it with her head intact. She breath out a hissing sigh, as he hopped up into the air, just a few feet above the ground, and made a spin in mid motion, as she brought her blades out before her in a spinning slash. The movement caused Jasters ground sweeping slice to pass beneath her, and her blades ricocheted off his in time to send her flying to the side, where she caught herself with subtle grace, and opened her eyes to stare back into his. "You'll have to do better than that." She shot to him in a cold tone, as she rose her blades in a defensive stance. Jaster noted the defensive motion, and shook his head a bit at her stance. "That wont work on me!" He called out toward her, as he rushed forward across the ground, his right sword crossed out before him, as he let his left trail behind him, ready to slash out with a parry when needed. Dancia sighed in frustration at the mixture of offense, and defense in his posture, and knew then and there how difficult it would be to get out of this alive. She spun one blade out, and barely managed to catch it upon the hilt if his sword, and quickly spinning it a backhanded stance as she held it there, while at the same time she brought her other in at a low arc, catching his blade where it was, before it could rend her abdomen. "Ahhh." She cried out softly in protest, as she felt her arms giving way to his subtle force.

Jaster smiled deep into her eyes, and shook his head. "It's over!" He called out toward her, pushing his blades in hard with enough force to send hers flying from her hands, and continue on till his blades cut through her flesh. Danica screamed in frustration, and through instinct alone, she came up with a defense. She let go of both her weapons, which were sent flying the air, and pushed forward into him, placing each of her hands in at his biceps, and using the force he presented to launch herself into the air. Danica's form, flashed above, as she spun in a deft twist, and caught both blades as they fell, and then, with another spin of her weight, she flipped herself back to where her feet faced the ground, and came down on them a safe distance away from him. Jaster growled back at her, and was just about to charge toward her form again, when all a sudden an elderly man called from just below the raised platform they fought on. "What are you two doing! fighting like that, Your supposed to be brothers, and sisters in arms!" He said to them fiercely, a cane in one hand, as he shook it outward at them in a warning that hinted at danger.

Jaster and Danica, both simultaneously turned toward him, and bowed, saying in unison. "IT was just a sparring match master." They glared toward each other as they finished their words, and turned heads in but a moment. The elderly man below, master Conrade, as he was known to his students, shook his head scornfully. "Such sparring matches can easily wind up in death." He warned them in a cold, defining tone, as he glanced toward each of them, noting their all but naked forms; it was the traditional way of dress for a duel to the death. "You two, ready your things and clean up this mess. Then return to your quarters for some rest. Remember, there is work to do tomorrow." He told them, tone still cold, and warning. Danica, and Jaster, looked back toward each other, then to him, and nodded softly. "Yes master." They once again said in unison. In truth the two didn't hate each other, but competition as the masters two best students put a strain on the already shaky friendship they had.

The two stood, after their mentor was out of sight, and they gazed into each others eyes. "Sorry for the heat." Jaster said to Danica, and he sheathed his twin blades at his hips. Danica merely nodded, as she did the same. The two then began to gather their belongings, as they stared back at each other occasionally, knowing that in the next day war would begin. The two had both been called to the front lines, and they both knew in their hearts, that this entire spat was because of that tension. After all, two of the best students in the temple were both being sent off to the same battlefield, and such raised questions as to who was the better. Both of them thought they had the better skill, both of them believed they chose the better style, yet neither of them truly wished to see the other dead. As they rose with the remainder of their clothing, they each gave one another one last glance, before turning to head off onto their quarters. The heat, and the tension, still thick in the air.

OOC: The post here is an opening one, and an introduction to the characters I wish us to play. Obviously, I'm looking for someone to portray Danica, and I will be playing Jaster. The genuine theme is a war time romance, a sort of passion brought on by the heat and chaos of war. The story is set in mid-avail times, and in a land similar to that of mid-western Europe, though in no way identical to our earth. If interested, send me a pm, and we can discuss more of the details.
