I have googled this and found nothing. My guess is I am using the wrong terms.
I recently purchased a penis cage that has a rod in the center, or a catheter.

I have enjoyed playing with this but I am worried about cleaning it.

Would anyone be willing to explain there cleaning process?
How long do you wear it?
Do you leave it in when using the restroom?
Does the mild burn go away with more use?

Mine is chrome is the material matters. Just one I found on Amazon.

It is a solid rod or does it have a lumen?

I guess lumen.
It is a hollow rod. It seems designed to allow fluids to pass through.

Can you pee through it?

I would say soap and water, unless there is some way you can sterilize it. The hotter the better.

I’m answering as a nurse, not as anyone who has used one of these contraptions.

You might try using a sterol lubricant, that should help with any infection.
Once caged you sit like a Women does to use the restroom, that is part of the purpose.
The purpose of putting it one is to keep it on, find a key holder and give them the keys.
Chrome is just a finish or covering of another material, best to use surgical steel. The chrome can contain harmful chemicals.
