Greetings all,

Due to some complicated circumstances, I'm going to need to make up some meals that are easily portioned out, frozen and re-heated for dinners in the not-to-distant-future. Already on the menu are:

Tomato sauce and Meatballs for Spaghetti dinners
Chili (of course)
Shellfish soup broth (to which fresh shellfish is added after broth has been thawed and heated)

Would love suggestions as I'm the sort of cook who rarely freezes left-overs. For me, it's usually cook dinner and leftovers are in the refrigerator to be eaten the next day, not frozen for next month.

So what have you found freezes and defrosts well? I have, in the past, frozen a beef stew, but found it didn't come out as tasty once thawed and re-cooked (no idea why). Open to other suggestions.

Recipes on a porn board? Seriously? You have no other connection to the outside world?:D

Now this is sort of a reflection of what I mean on the difference between women writers writing GM and male writers writing GM. Women writers invariably have to domesticate their pornography. :D

Indeed. But none of them are writers and, therefore, are not so well informed on all various and sundry subjects (see "Write what you know" ;)). Food, after all, is a staple of porn, from the elegant steak dinner where bites of rare, tender meat in a rich wine sauce are exchanged--resulting in the couple going at it under the dinner table, to home-made whipped cream to lick off a nipples and cocks. I figured writers here would know all about such recipes, as well as those that are good for freezing and heating up for later--to be eaten after a night of passion leaves the couple (or group?) ravenous. :cattail:

If you still have your turkey carcass, you could do a turkey soup. That's what my mother did. Or...chicken, of course. Start with a mirepoix, and do not--DO NOT--add potatoes.

Thawed potatoes are...*shudder* horrific...

Lasagna is always good. Also, many soups and stews -- which can be made in a crock pot, so you don't have to spend a lot of time watching them -- are good candidates.

This is a page of freezeable meals from Cooking Light, a magazine I've subscribed to for years and like a lot. http://www.cookinglight.com/food/top-rated-recipes/best-freezable-recipes-00412000070172/page21.html

Can't guarantee the recipes or anything, but it's a place to start. You could try them for crock pot recipes as well. Allrecipes.com is another good spot to try.

Lasgna freezes well and is easily reheated in the microwave.

Meatballs in sauce or sausages in sauce are easy to make, and you can freeze portions and with a bit of bread and a salad, make a quick meal.

Soups freeze well and again are easy to reheat.

Pot roast freezes well and reheats great.

Mac and Cheese works well, or a pasta casserole made with ground meat.

Chili freezes well as does sloppy joe

Chicken cacciatore and other chicken stews

Cook a batch of bake chicken parts and freeze them, they reheat easily.

Have a wander through the AH recipe thread here.

And perhaps coq au vin? Chicken and mushrooms in wine sauce. It freezes like a dream. I pull it out of the freeze, reheat and serve over fresh rice (not the potatoes suggested in the recipe). Dinner in 20 minutes.
