I am Music

Apparently. I have enjoyed playing both tunes in many a sweaty little bar.

There's no thumbs up icon so I'll just send you a :rose:

Lately I have been obsessed with Donald Fagen's solo stuff (much of which is, for all intents and purposes, Steely Dan). And his lyrics are just whacked, which delights me. Love the groove in this one.

"Rikki, don't lose that number" is somewhat exceptional because it's an actual love song, and Becker and Fagen seemed to be reluctant to write those, preferring more cynical fare. But in the arid world of pop music lyrics, Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell are both oases, IMHO.

If you feel like listening to some Steely Dan, vintage 1993, this show is excellent. The band is to die for and it's nice to remember there's someone named Donald that I still really like. Check out this band:

Joining Fagen and Becker are:

Drew Zingg on lead guitar
Peter Erskine on drums
Tom Barney on bass
Warren Bernhardt on piano
Cornelius Bumpus, Chris Potter, and Bob Sheppard on saxophone
Brenda White-King, Diane Garisto, and Catherine Russell on backing vocals
Bill Ware III on the vibraphone
Boz Scaggs - guest appearance on Black Friday
