"pt sitting on porch, heard gun shot, and then realized he was shot, got dropped off to ER via friends car."

we say "7 o'clock" around these parts.

show off :(

We always use military time in health care - helps to prevent med errors.

Somebody forgot to tell one of our social workers, and a patient got her anti-seizure med 12 hours late. Not good.

Today I rocked on half sleep. People were talking to me about their personal lives, and I was all like: I really don't have a clue what you just said. I am utilizing every single neuron I own to manage patient care.

I started fresh: I ripped down every drip line that was not labelled.

Sometimes untanglers' disease is hard to manage. Today's patient: tracheostomy with O2 at 5L/m bled into phd tubing, gastrostomy hooked up to drainage, jejunostomy with feeding running, urinary cath, and subQ morphine pump running into the upper arm. Transferred him in and out of his wheelchair twice, had to rearrange the tubing about 10 times. But he looked tidy all shift. :D

I wish I could use those same untangling skills with my own life lines. I would tear it all down, and make sense of my world.
