To the op- NK seems to think Trump did something to advance the peace process, even if his critics give him a fail. The AP:

"Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan issued a statement Friday saying North Korea is “willing to give the U.S. time and opportunities” to reconsider talks.

Kim says North Korea’s “objective and resolve to do our best for the sake of peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and all humankind remain unchanged.”

With all the things wrong and need attention in the world, the media is fixed on a so-call Porn actress that really was not a star in her industry. Yes the Korea's are talking and there has to be cautions because most people in the world have not read about the many assassinations or kidnappings of North Korea. I was there when 24 South Koreans were killed in the Airport bombing just before the Asian games in 86. I remember the interrogation of one spy where she talked about women from all over the world were kidnaped and trained to be spy for the North. Did any other country did anything about this? No I remember the Axe murders of two Army officers at the DMZ and the attack on the president's house in Seoul.
If true Peace and disarming of the North comes to pass, than yes Trump should get the prize. Remember, Obama got the prize within less than a year in office for no peace event that was achieved except for being elected as the first Bi-Racial president in US history. I could not give a rats ass about stormy Daniels. Drop the BS with the special prosecutor and lets focus on the Economy and Jobs. If you have not noticed our Stock market has been in toilet for the last month. Where is Cronkite when you need him?
Nice effort until the bi racial remark. Now you're just a moron.:)

Just pulled out of the summit because the honorable Kim was saying mean things and calling people names.
Tromp is such a fucking WIMP. And I don't mean Weakly Interacting Massive Particle, although that's not TOO far off. He's massive. He interacts weakly. He's more verb than particle, grammatically speaking, but the rest applies.

Lucy Kim keeps pulling the football away from Charlie Tromp. Inevitable.

I believe the sticking point was threatening nuclear war as a bargaining position.

You believe? You don't know, you just have faith that Kim was being unreasonable, and Trump refusing to compromise, still earned the Peace Prize?

It's still not a participation prize. You have to negotiate for peace. It's not awarded for "He started it!" either. Considering Mutually Assured Destruction is basically threatening Nuclear War as a Bargaining Position.

The only winning move is not to play.

Negotiations 101: The best deals you can make are the ones you walk away from...and then get them with better terms

Well played, Mr President, the NK's and NIGGERS are splayed on da GROUND

Kim says North Korea’s “objective and resolve to do our best for the sake of peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and all humankind remain unchanged.”

Heartfelt sentiments from a guy who assassinated his brother. Oh, wait, it was only a half brother.

"Peace, and stability for my country, and all human kind."

There's 2 kinds of Nuclear Power, technologically speaking: Warheads, and Energy. Warheads don't work for peace, they tend to piss off your neighbors, who already have nukes. Why he's picking on US, the only nation in history to glass an east Asian city, twice, is beyond me.

Pretty speech, but nuclear warheads aren't really a great plan for peace, and stability. China's right there too, and you don't need transpacific ballistic missiles to make them glass your asses into peace, and stability.

Might want to start investing in reactors. That's generally a more peaceful, and stable project, if you have the fissiles.

I think the Chinese are behind these latest North Korean Shenanigans. The last thing they want is a denuclearized Korean peninsula dominated by South Korean capitalism and western values on its southern border. I think they gave Kim his marching orders and are controlling his negotiating tactics. It's way past time to come down on the Chinese. We can do so with severe penalties under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 and Section 311 of the USA Patriot Act. The Chinese steal an estimated 600 billion per year in intellectual property and technology from United States private sector business interests. It's time to take them to the woodshed.

that's an interesting fantasy, but there's other ways Aggression can be encouraged, without direct Marching orders. In this case China is #3, and also basically the prototype (Mao) for NK's political system. this includes Power, displays of that Power, and especially Nuclear power:

Another theory is he's a Maoist, and jealous.

Would Trump be remiss to now reschedule the meeting he was in trouble for walking away from?

I think he should send someone better qualified for nukuler diplomacy. He was remis for hiring Giuliani as a defense lawyer. He has enough personal legal problems, here, and now, he should probably focus on those. Why we have diplomats, it's their job.

Very good news to receive the warm and productive statement from North Korea. We will soon see where it will lead, hopefully to long and enduring prosperity and peace. Only time (and talent) will tell!

Trump TRIUMPHS....AGAIN

Would Trump be remiss to now reschedule the meeting he was in trouble for walking away from?

First, Kim would have to offer the US something to show how contrite he is over what happened and the prove it was all a misunderstanding. Trump should require it as a "show of good faith".

At present what Kim's doing is trying to re-position himself as the one in control. That's what his "NK is ready to discuss disagreements with the US" is all about. If the US bends to accept that, then the power transfer is from NK to the US instead of the US being in control. (They offer, we accept - versus our terms, Nk obeys.)

LOL, now he's tweeting about hope! I swear, you can't make this shit up:

Wasn't "Star Wars" Reagan?

Yeah, this isn't diplomacy. Donny can't just walk in there, and whip him into submission with a mushroom stamp. There has to be compromise, on all sides. Asserting Power is what got US into this in the first place. Laying blame isn't helping, either.

The issue I have with your position is that in the past few administrations, the US position has always seemed to be one in which the US gives and the despots take, make promises they break immediately, and then blame the US for "foreign intervention" and "nation building".

WWII ended with MacArthur waiting on the deck of the Mighty Mo for the Japanese to sign the accords. There were no presents exchanged. Just the Japanese signing and then being escorted off the ship. The entire ceremony lasted 23 minutes.

They did that BECAUSE the US had enough power to say; "sign and have peace or we will destroy you utterly."

Reagan defeated the USSR with the same tactic. Peace through strength.

Contrast that against:

Clinton gave money and eased sanctions on NK. And NK went ahead with it's nuke program.

Obama gave money and signed a deal removing sanctions on Iran and Iran went ahead with it's nuke/missile program.

And now we have Trump who seems to be following the lead of those who actually DID get the deal done.

Oh, is that what happened? With let's say the Bushes, (And Cheney) they just weren't warmongery enough for you, so the world got the idea that they could just walk all over US? Obama sending Seal Team 6, missile strikes, drones, and Glidebombs was too giving? From your position, I get the feeling that in the past few administrations, you've seen what you want to, because ever since the Reagan administration, we've been negotiating with Bombs, Missiles, and Special Forces.

WWII ended with MacArthur waiting on the deck of the Mighty Mo for the Japanese to sign the accords. There were no presents exchanged. Just the Japanese signing and then being escorted off the ship. The entire ceremony lasted 23 minutes.

That being the formality, after we vaporized 2 civilian populations.

Reagan defeated the USSR with the same tactic. Peace through strength.

The Soviets defeated themselves with poor planning. Reagan was in office, but again, the Nobel committee didn't hand out a prize for participation.

Clinton gave money and eased sanctions on NK. And NK went ahead with it's nuke program.
Obama gave money and signed a deal removing sanctions on Iran and Iran went ahead with it's nuke/missile program.

correlation, not causation. NK, and Iran both had nukuler programs, because they were jealous of other superpowers in the region. India, and then Pakistan both developed nukes within the same year without external intervention, so it's kinda like your "Theory" that China ordered North Korea to develop nukes, instead of just making them a partner state (Like Turkey, and Cuba) and put their own state of the art ICBMs there. If China wanted North Korea to nuke North America, they did a shitty job of it, but letting them develop shitty Intermediate Range, instead of Intercontinental Missiles. Having a bomb is useless if you can't deliver it on target, a 3rd of the way around the Northern Hemisphere.

And now we have Trump who seems to be following the lead of those who actually DID get the deal done.

Trump is neither a leader, nor a follower. he's not a diplomat, he's holding down a chair, when he's even in the room.
