Emperor Caligula Carrot, Donald, the first of his name

Esquire peers at McNaughton's lithograph

August 2, 2018

McNaughton painting is not particularly useful as a reflection of reality, at least as most would recognize it. Instead, it's a momentary glimpse through the kaleidoscopic lens that Fox News conservatives now see the world. The president is not just Good, but a Great Man of History on the level of the Founding Fathers.

(Emperor Carrot's) Patriot Boat also features some of his prominent aides and cabinet members—but conveniently leaves out all the ones who have resigned in disgrace, or even those who've stuck around in it.

There's no place for former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price

There's no Scott Pruitt, either.

It appears there isn't even space for Ryan Zinke

Wilbur Ross did make it in the front (Did McNaughton lie about who was seated in the boat ? Jeff Sessions is listed, but the seated figure could represent either man. The brimmed hunting hat hides distinctive features. Grumpy Old Keebler Elf could portray either man.)

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a22624320/donald-trump-swamp-painting-jon-mcnaughton/

Esquire provides an introduction to McNaughton's previous creations.

"The artist's previous offering was a bizarre spasm of the persecution complex plaguing the right, where The Secular Left is forcing Christianity out of American life"

"Other recent McNaughton works show Trump menacing Special Counsel Robert Mueller with a magnifying glass, or Trump hugging an American flag standing on a football field in a work titled, "Respect the Flag." There's even an ode to Cliven Bundy, the freeloading anti-government rancher with some interesting views on race. In this respect, the paintings are often boilerplate resentment topics pulled from Fox or talk radio, with a point of view delivered with the subtlety you expect from a Ben Garrison cartoon."

As everyone dissects Jon McNaughton's "Trump Goes Fishin'" painting, let me point you to his masterpiece, "One Nation Under God."

And yes, I had to be talked out of discussing this at length in the epilogue of my last book.

"One Nation Under God," references the line from the Pledge of Allegiance that is held up as deeply symbolic of intrinsic American religiosity—and which was added in 1953."

Emperor Carrot once, again, forgot that he was campaigning for someone else.

He started boasting about himself, and fully entered MAGA mode.

Trump was joined for his Saturday rally in Ohio by former White House communications director Hope Hicks.

When the flight touched down at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, photographers captured Hicks descending the steps of the airplane in a sleeveless white midi dress and large, cat-eye sunglasses looking very much like Melania Trump. She also donned sky-high taupe heels and a Birkin bag, both favorites of the first lady.

Where was he hiding out ?

Standard Carrot Head rally- Invited more people than would be allowed inside, for the photo-op rally.

People watched Carrot Head outside, on a big screen.

More than a hundred protesters gathered outside the school to voice their opposition.

"We need to make America un-racist, unfastidious, un-ignorant making everybody madder. Everyone is welcome here; it's isn't just about white people, it's not just about people that agree with what you want them to. It's about equality and equity," said anti-Trump rally participator Tracy Mallory.

Protesters brandished signs reading "Lebron builds schools... Trump build cages" in response to the President's tweet about the former Cleveland Cavalier, which questioned the NBA player's intelligence.

Among the crowd was ECOT The Eagle, a mascot symbolizing the now non-existent online school which ended up owing the state $80 million in taxpayers dollars. Troy Balderson, who took $10,000 in campaign money from ECOT founder Bill Lager, donated the money to charity last June.

Protesters like Natashia Retz say it's time to impeach the 45th President and make America a better country again.

"I am tired of the racism and hatred that this President -- and I use that term loosely -- is putting on this country," said.

Stormy Daniels and Emperor Carrot Head, 90 miles, apart.Seperated by three counties in Ohio on Saturday.

In an odd twist of fate, Emperor Carrot Head will visited Ohio
to stump for a vile and corrupt candidate-
on the same day as Stormy Daniels, the adult entertainer

It was a long week, for the White House.
Ohio is a desperate situation.

Under Trump, ICE jails a journalist. Is this Russia?

August 9, 2018

ICE released Gutierrez Soto and his son, after seven months in custody - just hours before the judge's deadline to reveal the documents justifying their detention.

If ICE thought it could defend this, it wouldn't have let them go, says Penny Venetis, head of the Rutgers Law School International Human Rights Clinic, which stepped up to argue their case on free speech grounds.

Press club members obtained internal ICE emails that showed Gutierrez Soto was inexplicably added to a government target list for arrest, less than a month after President Trump's inauguration in 2017. This was before his asylum bid was even denied.

Their sudden release last month, thanks to the legal challenge from the Rutgers law clinic, means ICE will no longer have to reveal exactly why they were arrested, or why Gutierrez Soto was on a target list that his defense team says is normally reserved for criminals and fugitives.

ICE's media office in El Paso, Texas, where he was arrested, has refused to answer any of our questions about this case.

Emperor Carrot Head Blames D.C. For Cancellation Of Military Parade

August 17, 2018

Mayor Muriel Bowser is refuting claims claims from President Donald Trump that D.C. officials provided a "ridiculously high" estimate of the costs for a now-cancelled military parade.

Officials with the D.C. government say the city isn’t to blame for high costs associated with the parade. According to one source, specific details of what the parade would entail were never shared with the city, so the $21.6 million D.C. provided recently in a projected budget is a pretty rough estimate.

The mayor’s office said that all told, the parade would cost the city $21,644,813, with the largest costs going toward police presence and security. The federal government typically reimburses the city for events related to being in the nation's capital, like inaugurations and major first amendment demonstrations. The estimated $2.6 million cost for the recent white supremacist rally, for example, is expected to come out of the federal fund.

When asked about why D.C. may have been the subject of President Trump’s blame, the mayor said that “he has to be familiar with the facts of what it takes to support a national security event. Maybe he’s angry with his own team that they can’t pull off the parade by November, and he made the target Washington, D.C., and its taxpayers.

Bloomberg's sources say that Trump will attend both a roundtable with supporters and a luncheon at Lorber’s home in Southampton on Friday. Proceeds from the events will benefit Trump Victory, which is a joint committee for Trump’s 2020 campaign and the Republican National Committee. In addition to Nathan's, Lorber is also the chief executive officer of the Vector Group, which owns Douglas Elliman Realty and the fourth largest cigarette manufacturer in the country.

Last year, the NY Times reported that Trump has called Lorber one of his two best friends. In 1996, Trump and Lorber apparently traveled to Moscow together "to explore business opportunities." Trump also named Lorber chairman of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council’s governing board and used him as an economic adviser during his presidential campaign. Another connection: Lorber's son also appeared as a judge on The Apprentice once.

The report on the smaller planes comes after the White House announced last month that Boeing had been awarded a $3.9 billion contract to design and build two new planes to serve as Air Force One.

Trump has said that the new planes will be painted red, white and blue, a shift from the aircraft’s current design.

“Air Force One is going to be incredible,” Trump said in an interview last month. “It’s going to be the top of the line, the top in the world, and it’s going to be red, white and blue. Which I think is appropriate.”

Jeb Bush flew in to give ECOT’s commencement speech and Betsy DeVos helped Lager transform Ohio’s educational landscape.

Protesters (across the street from Emperor Carrot's dinner party) also tried to tie Trump's legal problems to Republicans at the state and local level. They drew attention to the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow, or ECOT, the controversial online charter school that overcharged the state for educating students it could not prove were participating in their education.

https://www.motherjones.com/politic...gest-charter-school-experiment-just-imploded/

Attorney General Mike DeWine must prove a substantial case against Lager, the now-closed school and two companies Lager owned that did business with the school, IQ Innovations and Altair Learning Management. But DeWine said in a court filing Tuesday that any properties Lager owns whose purchase can be traced to illegal contracts could be taken to cover ECOT debts.

That would require proving both that Lager earned money from ECOT illegally through those companies and that he bought the homes with that money.

Yes, that’s right—it’s a blue stripe where no blue stripe should be. You’d think there’d be a social media editor to prune out the photos that suggest that the President of the United States can’t color an accurate reproduction of the single graphic he probably sees more than any other.

“This court finds that these provisions conflict with congressional intent in a manner that cannot be sustained.”

-U.S District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson

A US court has overturned key pieces of three executive orders signed by President Donald Trump, handing a major victory to federal employees and the unions that represent them.

U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson ruled that Mr Trump had overstepped his authority in issuing the executive orders, which sought to weaken the power of government unions.

(Emperor Carrot's) orders, issued in May, instructed federal agencies to renegotiate all union contracts. They also limited the amount of paid time workers could take for union-related business, and reduced the amount of time low-performing employees had to improve their performance before being fired.

Unions just scored a victory against the Trump administration, which has steadily been working to weaken the power of organized labor. A federal judge in Washington on Friday struck down most provisions of three executive orders that made it easier for government agencies to fire workers and restricted the ability of their unions to negotiate with managers.

https://www.motherjones.com/politic...cored-a-win-against-the-trump-administration/

Jackson, an appointee of former President Obama, wrote that the orders “impair the ability of agency officials to keep an open mind, and to participate fully in give-and-take discussions, during collective bargaining negotiations.”

There is no executive privilege in a criminal investigation except for military or diplomatic matters. The Supreme Court made that clear by its unanimous decision requiring Richard Nixon to give a grand jury the White House tapes that ultimately led to his resignation.

And second, the D.C. Circuit, in an opinion the Supreme Court has refused to review, has definitively held there was no attorney-client privilege between White House Counsel and President Bill Clinton that would protect advice or documents in Ken Starr’s criminal investigation, because White House counsel are not personal lawyers to the President. In effect, McGahn does not have the same status as Giuliani.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that he had canceled a scheduled two percent pay raise for millions of federal employees, initially due to take effect at the start of 2019.

Interestingly, the $25 billion Trump claims the pay stoppage would save is nearly the exact same amount he had previously demanded to cover the initial costs of his oft-promised border wall between the United States and Mexico—one he has continued to insist that Mexico itself will pay for.

Where his presidential predecessors traditionally used their first foreign trip to reassure our neighbors in Canada or Mexico, Trump opted to make his first international appearance in Saudi Arabia.

Trump has written the Saudis blank checks for policies that are undermining U.S. values and interests without getting much to shout about in return—and they are cashing them. They’re conducting a devastating war in Yemen that has killed thousands of civilians, created a humanitarian catastrophe, strengthened Al Qaeda and handed the Iranians and Houthis a propaganda victory and cover for their own misdeeds. They launched a bungled blockade against Qatar that has only enhanced Iran’s influence in Doha and divided the Gulf Cooperation Council. They waged an ill-conceived campaign to cut Hezbollah down to size by kidnapping the Lebanese prime minister—complete with a hostage video that made Riyadh look feckless and heavy-handed at the same time. They cracked down on key female activists who were among the first to champion the right of women to drive cars, and Shia women activists who they accused of undermining the security of the state—and who may now be sentenced to death—effectively erasing whatever goodwill the Saudis created by finally allowing women to drive. They theatrically overreacted to Canada’s criticism of the crackdown by canceling flights, throwing out the Canadian ambassador and pulling Saudi students out of Canadian universities and Saudi patients out of Canadian hospitals.

In the face of all this, what has the Trump administration done to push back? Next to nothing.

The U.S. dispatched a three-star general to Saudi Arabia to “investigate” one of the country’s most recent attacks on children in Yemen. And this week, the top U.S. commander in the Middle East called for more transparency in Saudi Arabia’s errant missile targeting. But the Pentagon still hasn’t missed a beat in continuing its unconscionable enabling of possible Saudi war crimes in Yemen. It continues to provide Saudis with intelligence but asserts that it is not giving direct or indirect approval on target selection or execution of bombings.

If the Trump administration, in defiance of all strategic logic and its own interests, wants to treat Saudi Arabia as America’s best friend with benefits, fine. But Washington should at least stop letting them screw us at every turn.
