Reunion

The lack of smoke was
something he'd forgotten to
expect, but the yellowed
light--still turned down low,
had left the pool hall
(that wanted to be a bar)
still recognizable. The woman
running a table by herself had
not been, at first, she just
held a sense of familiarity
to his eyes, that grew with
each body part that managed
to interact with her throughout
the night. They finally made the
connection and he raised an
eyebrow while caressing her
through her tight denim. "So?"
"You're incorrigible."
"Not at all, trust me, I can be
encouraged, just fine."

Your indictment was always silent
as was your condemnation
But then, I judged you as well,
and found you unworthy of my care

New word: centerpiece

The centerpiece at you wedding
was spectacular,
unlike your fidelity.
Such a pity the groom figurine
toppled just as you saw me
heading your way.

as hot as her eyes--meeting yours
she pulls away the last scarf
lets it fly--you rise to catch it

wrestling Indian style, push and pull
clench and release, not a contest

hi. New to this thread so not sure if this has been done before or over done But it's a challenge i use to share with some friends. Basically you write a word and the next person writes a 4 line quick poem and then gives a word for the next person etc. If it sucks I'm sorry. My word for the first person game enough to try follow my rambling is.............. Highland

I think it's writer's choice, but I can go either way.

I could play that way. I think that's right--it's been so long that I forget what I'm doing.

so, the word: yield

her eyes downcast before the axe
she yields unto her fate
but in her soul she hopes to hear
her lover holler "wait"

new word: harmony

shoeless mummies bewildered

upon the red shores of appamattox
