Das ist fuer mich interressanten wie Leute anbaendeln mit die Deutschworte. Ich glaube, das Doppeldeutigkiet ist eine Instrument in alle Sprachen.

Wenn denken Sie eine Wort mit Doppeldeutigkeit, wollen sie von sie erzaehlen, vorzugweisse wenn sie ist anzueglich?

Alles Gesprach ist wilkommen!

(I know there is plenty of double-entendre in the German language to talk about.)

Wie die Voegel oder der Vogel...?

Oder...

Wie der/das/die? Teil?

Schimmel ist ein weisses Pferd der andere Schimmel ist wenn etwas schlecht wird
Schimmel am Kase oder Brot ;)

What about a build-in-translation

hello,

what about a translation into English under the (german) postings?
Makes it easier to understand, and gives the chance to learn better
-------------------------------
Wie wäre es mit einer Übersetzung ins Englische unter den deutschen Postings?
Macht es einfacher zu verstehen, und gibt einen die Chance es zu lernen.

shedding some light ...

Hello all,

double-entendre is fun .. but it is DIFFICULT in any but your own language.

Maybe I can shed some light (without coming across as a "know it all" person *winks*)

First of all it is DIE Doppeldeutigkeit,

second "Schimmel" is "der Schimmel" both times - implying a white horse or mould alike and no, no difference in either gender or spelling.

Now, the double meaning on the adult side ...

Der Schwanz - the tail (meaning either tail as in "the dog was wagging his tail" or cock)

Die Möpse - the original meaning being the plural of a specific breed of dogs (I think it is pugs?), the "second meaning" being boobs.

And then we have the classic ... Muschi! which quite "literally" translates to "pussy" and I guess it doesn't need any further translating! :p

Hope you enjoyed the little "German Lesson"

Regards
Hecate

Das ist ein gute Idee fuer mich wenn jemand will die zu tun.:D

That works for me if anyone wants to.

I think I lose a lot in translation sometimes though.

Danke schoene, Hecate.

Ich mag dein Lektion.

Ist das richtig?

Wann der Schwanz schwaenzelt, der bester Freund von Mann ist erfreut?;)

(When the tail wags man's best friend is happy.)

Na, bist Du deutsch ? ich dachte die Mopse waren Rollmopse oder ist das wieder
was anders ~ und nein Du kanst meine nicht sehen~ wenigstens nicht hier ;) :D

Der Rollmops / die Rollmöpse

= eine spezielle Zubereitung eines Herings, sauer eingelegt und aufgerollt, normalerweise mit einem Holzspießchen zusammengehalten.

= a special way of preparing a hering (I think that fish is called hering in English and German?), usually kept in a sour marinade and rolled up, pinned together with a wooden "pin"

and

When the tail wags man's best friend is happy.
Wenn der Schanz wedelt ist der beste Freund des Mannes (though I would assume it was meant to be "des Menschen") glücklich.

End of lesson for now :)

Oh, no! If 'die Moepse' and 'die Rollmoepse' get played with together it would be a red herring to further... um... play!

Aber ich moechte gern wenn die Zitzen der Moepse sind gerollt. (Do I have to say it in English?)

Danke, Hecate. Du bist sehr hilfsbereit!l (You're a great help.)

Aber, nein, ich will "der beste Freund des Mannes" sagen, nicht "des Menschen." :D

(Though I'm sure dogs are happy, too, I meant men. ;) )

Hi, 'ling:rose:

Hm...

anyway... well those are some quotes with childish double meanings that kept us amused during school, whenever the teacher said them... and then I added something about the importance of grammar...

Ich habe die Vermatung, dass "kommen" hat beide auf Englische und Deutschsprache die Doppeldeutigkiet. (I'm presuming that "come" has double-meaning in both English and German.)

Ja! Deutschesprache hat veile Faelles zu mich verwirren.
Ich glaube, ich kann dich amuesieren.:D

Sie, sie, sie... I think for sure there must be times when it's hard to know if it's You, y'all, or her? :)

Ja, selbe Bedeutung...

was das Sie und sie und sie angeht - ich selbst habe mich dagegen immer gefragt, wie ihr auf Englisch eure ganzen "you"s auseinanderhaltet... Na, bis ich dann "y'all" und "all y'all" und so was kennengelernt habe...

But can you say '"y'all" with a southern twang?:D

Wie weisst du, welche freund/freundin ein freund ist? Ob der freund ist platonische ober, hmmm, romantische?

Ich kann sich viel Missverstendis vorstellen.

How do you know what kind of friend you're talking about when "Freund" can be platonic or romantic? I would imagine there could be some confusion about this.

Perhaps some 'friends' should be introduced with a wink?;):D

its the same in English:

My friend!

I have no idea, if it is male or female

I lived half a year in oklahoma... that's where i learned english... but actually, i never really picked up the accent, i think... but i used to go out with a guy from new york and i used to piss him off by using random southern expressions, like y'all...

das ist ganz leicht:
Mein Freund = romantisch
ein Freund (von mir) = platonisch

Ambivalent wird es, wenn du "mein Freund so-und-so" sagst, dann kann es beides heißen...

Okay! Nun, ich verstehe. Danke. :rose:

Weenie,

If it's just a friend it doesn't matter if it's a male or a female. If it's that special kind of friend then it's a boyfriend or girlfriend.

"Ich habe von Vögeln keine Ahnung."

Wegen dieses Spruchs musste ich in Bio mal einen Aufsatz ueber "Voegeln" machen, im Sinne des substantivierten Verbs !!

Ich war rot wie 'ne Tomate  und habe diesen Pauker von Stund an von meinen nassforschen Bemerkungen verschont.
