Beneath, Between & Behind

Rush

Ten score years ago, defeat the kingly foe
A wondrous dream came into being
Tame the trackless waste, no virgin land left chaste
All shining eyes, but never seeing

Beneath the noble birth
Between the proudest words
Behind the beauty, cracks appear
Once, with heads held high
They sang out to the sky
Why do their shadows bow in fear?

Watch the cities rise
Another ship arrives
Earth's melting pot and ever growing
Fantastic dreams come true
Inventing something new
The greatest minds, and never knowing

The guns replace the plow, facades are tarnished now
The principles have been betrayed
The dream's gone stale, but still, let hope prevail
History's debt won't be repaid

Why is it, that we do not sing Columbia, anymore ?

Alice Walker

We have a beautiful mother ?
Her hills ? are buffaloes; Her buffaloes hills.
We have a beautiful mother ?
Her oceans are wombs; Her wombs ?oceans.
We have a beautiful ? mother ?
Her teeth the white stones at the edge of the water;
The summer grasses her plentiful ? hair.
We have a beautiful ?mother ?
Her green lap ? immense ?
Her brown embrace eternal ?
Her blue body everything we know.

Long before Lady Columbia topped the U.S. Capitol or the Statue of Liberty dominated New York Harbor, however, images of women were already being widely used to symbolize the soul and national character of the United States. In fact, art historians have traced images of America's Goddess back to the very beginning of European discovery and invasion. At the outset of Colonization, America was symbolized as a noble, enigmatic Indian Queen. For many, however, the Indian Queen was seen as "too savage" a symbol and she was soon replaced with a tamer, more anglicized American image: the Indian Princess. In the 19th century, the "Indian" in the face of the Indian Princess dissolved into a lighter-skinned, more classical image. Her headdress of eagle feathers evolved into ostrich plumes spraying from a bonnet or helmet. The European settlers began to adopt this exotic princess finally as their own.

With so many variations of the Lady Liberty, it is no wonder that artists began to mix traits from the Indian Princess, the Plumed Greek Goddess and Columbia. Other figures then merged with these images, especially the Greek representations of the Goddesses of Wisdom and Liberty. The Goddess of Liberty was, according to Thomas Fleming, "so intimately identified with the American cause as to become Americanized. We have either Liberty representing the United States or the United States interpreted as Liberty." In any case, it is the image of this feminine power that our founders apparently saw as an essential part of our national consciousness. If the imageless God of America established and empowered law, the embodied image of the Goddess established and empowered this new community with the potential for an integrated, interdependent and visual identity. She would give Law, and thus the Lawgiver, its authority.

As a mythological figure Columbia first appears in the poetry of the slave Phillis Wheatley in 1776 during the Revolutionary War. Without herself enjoying freedom, Wheatley's poem illustrates how removed our nation already was from its own stated ideals. Directing the poem to General Washington, Wheatley put her trust in him as a "godlike" hero who would rescue the people from tyranny and oppression. Washington, in service of America's Goddess, would "sacrifice" himself as the archetypal warrior-king to her greater glory and this sacrifice would produce, for the people, a nation of peaceful abundance; built on character, integrity and justice. A nation made great, Wheatley hoped, by the solidarity and empathy of its citizens. A society not built on one class of citizens perpetually serving the other, but on people serving each other with equanimity and peace, in "worship" of the Great Mother. A hope, tragically, that still awaits realization. A hope cut short, it turns out, by the very systems of thought that produced it.

Columbia! the gem of the ocean,
The home of the brave and the free,
The shrine of each patriot's devotion,
A world offers homage to thee;
Thy mandates make heroes assemble,
When Liberty's form stands in view;
Thy banners make tyranny tremble,
When borne by the red, white, and blue.
When borne by the red, white, and blue,
When borne by the red, white, and blue,
Thy banners make tyranny tremble,
When borne by the red, white and blue.

When war wing'd its wide desolation,
And threaten'd the land to deform,
The ark then of freedom's foundation,
Columbia rode safe thro' the storm;
With her garlands of vict'ry around her,
When so proudly she bore her brave crew;
With her flag proudly waving before her,
The boast of the red, white and blue.
The boast of the red, white and blue,
The boast of the red, white, and blue,
With her flag proudly floating before her,
The boast of the red, white and blue.

The Union, the Union forever,
Our glorious nation's sweet hymn,
May the wreaths it has won never wither,
Nor the stars of its glory grow dim,
May the service united ne'er sever,
But they to their colors prove true.
The Army and Navy forever,
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue.
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue,
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue,
The Army and Navy for ever,
Three cheers for the red, white and blue.

(A slightly different third verse)

The star spangled banner bring hither,
O'er Columbia's true sons let it wave;
May the wreaths they have won never wither,
Nor its stars cease to shine on the brave.
May thy service united ne'er sever,
But hold to the colors so true;
The Army and Navy forever,
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue!
The Army and Navy forever,
Three cheers for the red, white, and blue

Columbia, the Gem of the Ocean" received an American copyright in 1843 and is credited to the name of David T. Shaw. Yet to understand the true origins of Shaw's song one must follow two threads. One thread leads to Thomas a'Beckett who claimed to have rewritten Shaw's lyrics before the song was copyrighted. The other thread leads to Stephen Joseph Meany who wrote the poem "Britannia, the Pride of the Ocean," from which, in turn, a'Beckett may have taken his lyrics.

If you're having girl problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one

[Verse One]
I got the rap patrol on the gat patrol
Foes that wanna make sure my casket's closed
Rap critics that say he's "Money Cash Hoes"
I'm from the hood stupid what type of facts are those
If you grew up with holes in your zapatos
You'd celebrate the minute you was having dough
I'm like fuck critics you can kiss my whole asshole
If you don't like my lyrics you can press fast forward
Got beef with radio if I don't play they show
They don't play my hits well I don't give a shit SO
Rap mags try and use my black ass
So advertisers can give em more cash for ads...fuckers
I don't know what you take me as
or understand the intelligence that Jay-Z has
I'm from rags to riches nigga I ain't dumb
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Chorus]
99 Problems but a bitch ain't one
If you having girl problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Verse Two]
The year is '94 and in my trunk is raw
In my rear view mirror is the mother fucking law
I got two choices yall pull over the car or
bounce on the double put the pedal to the floor
Now I ain't trying to see no highway chase with jake
Plus I got a few dollars I can fight the case
So I...pull over to the side of the road
And I heard "Son do you know why I'm stopping you for?"
Cause I'm young and I'm black and my hat's real low
Do I look like a mind reader sir, I don't know
Am I under arrest or should I guess some mo?
"Well you was doing fifty five in a fifty four"
"License and registration and step out of the car"
"Are you carrying a weapon on you I know a lot of you are"
I ain't stepping out of shit all my papers legit
"Do you mind if I look round the car a little bit?"
Well my glove compartment is locked so is the trunk and the back
And I know my rights so you gon' need a warrant for that
"Aren't you sharp as a tack are some type of lawyer or something?"
"Or somebody important or something?"
Nah I ain't passed the bar but I know a little bit
Enough that you won't illegally search my shit
"Well see how smart you are when the K-9's come"
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Chorus X2]

[Verse Three]
Now once upon a time not too long ago
A nigga like myself had to strong arm a hoe
This is not a hoe in the sense of having a pussy
But a pussy having no God Damn sense, try and push me
I tried to ignore him and talk to the Lord
Pray for him, cause some fools just love to perform
You know the type loud as a motor bike
But wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight
The only thing that's gonna happen is i'mma get to clapping
He and his boys gon' be yapping to the captain
And there I go trapped in the kit kat again
Back through the system with the riff raff again
Fiends on the floor scratching again
Paparazzi's with they cameras snapping them
D.A. tried to give the nigga the shaft again
Half-a-mil for bail cause I'm African
All because this fool was harrassin' them
Trying to play the boy like hes saccarin
But ain't nothing sweet 'bout how I hold my gun
I got 99 problems but being a bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Chorus X3]

Fallen on Hard Times

Fallen on hard times but it feels good to know,
that milk and honey's just around the bend.
Running on bad lines we'd better run as we go,
Tear up, tear up the overdraft again.

Oh, dear Prime Minister it's all such a mess.
Go right ahead and pull the rotten tooth.
Oh, Mr. President you've been put to the test.
Come clean, for once, and hit us with the truth.

Looking for sunshine oh but it's black and it's cold
Yet, you say that milk and honey's just round the bend.
Giving us a hard time, my friends
handing us the same line again.

Fallen on hard times and there's nowhere to hide
Now they've re-possessed the Rolls Royce and the mink.
Turning on the peace sign and it's back to the wood.
Soon there will be raised a holy stink.

Somebody wake me. I've been sleeping too long.
Oh, I don't have to take this lying down.
You can keep your promises. Shove 'em where they belong.
Don't ask me to the party, won't be around.

Looking for sunshine oh but it's black and it's cold
Yet, you say that milk and honey's just round the bend.
Giving us a hard time, my friends
handing us the same line again.

Fallen on hard times. We've fallen on hard times.
Fallen on hard times. If you read between the lines.
Fallen on hard times.

Give me back my broken night
My mirrored room, my secret life
It's lonely here,
There's no one left to torture
Give me absolute control
Over every living soul
And lie beside me, baby,
That's an order!

Give me crack and anal sex
Take the only tree that's left
And stuff it up the hole
In your culture
Give me back the berlin wall
Give me stalin and st paul
I've seen the future, brother
It is murder.

Things are going to slide, slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold
And it has overturned
The order of the soul
When they said repent repent
I wonder what they meant
When they said repent repent
I wonder what they meant
When they said repent repent
I wonder what they meant

You don't know me from the wind
You never will, you never did
I'm the little jew
Who wrote the bible
I've seen the nations rise and fall
I've heard their stories, heard them all
But love's the only engine of survival
Your servant here, he has been told
To say it clear, to say it cold:
It's over, it ain't going
Any further
And now the wheels of heaven stop
You feel the devil's riding crop
Get ready for the future:
It is murder.

Things are going to slide

There'll be the breaking of the ancient
Western code
Your private life will suddenly explode
There'll be phantoms
There'll be fires on the road
And the white man dancing
You'll see a woman
Hanging upside down
Her features covered by her fallen gown
And all the lousy little poets
Coming round
Tryin' to sound like charlie manson
And the white man dancin'

Give me back the berlin wall
Give me stalin and st paul
Give me christ
Or give me Hiroshima
Destroy another fetus now
We don't like children anyhow
I've seen the future, baby
It is murder

Cohen continued releasing albums in the early 2000s, but his plans for retirement hit a snag when he discovered that his former business manager, Kelley Lynch, had drawn $5 million from his savings. Cohen filed suit in 2006 and was granted a default judgment of $9 million in Los Angeles County Superior Court, but he was never able to collect from Lynch.

With his funds depleted, Cohen, who kept homes in Montreal and Los Angeles, returned to the road at age 73, in Europe and the U.S. in 2008 and 2009. The strain sometimes showed — Cohen fainted on stage in Barcelona in 2009 — but a 2009 album, “Live in London,” was recorded during the tour.

Despite his burdens, Cohen had seemingly left the grocer of despair far in the past, happy in the relationship with singer Thomas, which began in 1999.

I believe in love to the power of ten
I don't believe retaliation strikes can make amends
I believe
I believe again

I cut down the flags on the wooden ship
Sail stateless
Keep the faith in protest
Against the wind

But when I look in your eyes
I don't see anything
I see a love that died
Cut down in a mercy killing

Looking for mercy
Looking for mercy
Found it in my arms
Don't look so sad
Looking for mercy

I believe in starting out again
I don't believe imaginary love can ever win
I want to believe again
I receive the lies that I can't resist
Idolize
'This machine kills fascists'

Specialised and refined
In heart breaks relined
I'm a mercy killer

But when I look in your eyes
I don't' see anything
Now I've seen a love that died
Cut down in a mercy killing
Looking for mercy
Looking for mercy
Found it in my arms
Woh oh oh oh
Looking for mercy
{Mercy on me
Can't live the creed}

And if I run am I free
If I look back will I see
I'm killing again

Mercy killing

And the very thing I do to you
Will be done to me

Looking for mercy
Looking for mercy (looking for mercy)
I don't see anything
Now I see a love that died
Cut down in a mercy killing

Looking for mercy
Looking for mercy (looking for mercy)
Found it in my arms
Don't look so sad
Looking for mercy

Trump’s nuts roasting on an open fire
as he keeps nipping at his foes.
you’ll cry creepy uncle
every time he arrives
for he keeps clawing at your clothes
everybody knows
some money and entitlement
can help to make the season white
mothers of color with their kids out of sight
will find it hard to sleep at night.

They know that
truuump is on his way.
he’s got black boys in hoodies locked up on his sleigh
and every working man is going to cry
when they learn that Letch don't care
how you live or how you die

So I'm offering this simple phrase
to kids from 1 to 92
although it's been said
Many time, many ways
Merry Christmas to you
Merry Merry Christmas to you
Donald Trump,
Fuck you!

Jabba the Drumpf lied.
Trump told The New York Times in a phone call after the Globes-
“All the dress shops are sold out in Washington.
It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”

Salon visited several stores near the inauguration parade route and found hundreds of available gowns. Dior, Carolina Herrera, Kate Spade, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Helmut Lang.

Why did Jabba the Drumpf throw dress shops under the bus ?

Precious princess, darling Ivanka needs some online traffic ?

"The president-elect’s own daughter Ivanka Trump knows the value of e-commerce; her eponymous brand no longer has a brick-and-mortar store, but maintains a robust online and wholesale selection."

Trash Ivanka's daddy, but give her online outlet a mention?

Moby Made a Playlist for a Trump Inaugural Ball He Will Not Be Playing At

http://www.vulture.com/2017/01/moby-made-a-playlist-for-trumps-inauguration.html

Since it seems unlikely that the future 45th president will give up his tax returns for a night of Moby music, Billboard reached out to the musician to see if it could get a copy of this theoretical Public Enemy–heavy playlist. Moby delivered, and in addition to the promised tunes, he also threw in plenty of protest and politically charged songs, including "Get Up, Stand Up," "What's Going On," and "We Shall Overcome." Subtle it is not.

"...Moby’s Instagram announcement -- amid a lot of laughter -- he sarcastically wrote that he would possibly consider it “if as payment #trump released his tax returns.”

27 songs, that Moby has chosen.

Emperor Caligula Carrot and his slave Melania are a good fit, in the many roles of villain pairs.

This week, it is easy to see them as the criminal, corrupt, and greedy

after they made a farce of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit.

Donald Trump, Innkeeper to the World

Welcome, Shinzo Abe, sit yourself down
Meet the Best innkeeper in this town

Do you like my inn?
It is the Best you'll see.
I am in debt to Putin
He has the goods on me
Please bow down to Putin
Please listen to my plea!
Do not be a cunt!
Rescue me!

Master of the house, doling out the charm
Ready with a handshake and an open palm
Tells a saucy tale, makes a little stir
Customers appreciate a bon-viveur
Glad to do a friend a favor
Doesn't cost me to be nice
But nothing gets you nothing
Everything has got a little price

Master of the house, keeper of the zoo
Ready to relieve 'em of a sou or two
Water in the wine, making up the weight
Pickin' up their knick-knacks when they can't see straight
Everybody loves a landlord
Everybody's bosom friend
I do whatever pleases
Jesus! Won't I bleed 'em in the end!

Donald Trump crashes the wedding held at his inn.

Master of the house, quick to catch yer eye
Never wants a passerby to pass him by
Servant to the poor, butler to the great
Comforter, philosopher, and lifelong mate
Everybody's boon companion
Everybody's chaperone

Donald Trump

But lock up your valises
Jesus! Won't I skin you to the bone!

Enter Shinzo Abe lay down your load
Unlace your boots and rest from the road
This weighs a ton, travel's a curse
But here we strive to lighten on your purse
Here the goose is cooked
Here the fat is fried
But nothing's overlooked
Till I'm satisfied

Food beyond compare. Food beyond belief
Mix it in a mincer and pretend it's beef
Kidney of a horse, liver of a cat
Filling up the sausages with this and that
Residents are more than welcome
Bridal suite is occupied
Reasonable charges
Plus some little extras on the side

Charge 'em for the lice, extra for the mice
Two percent for looking in the mirror twice
Here a little slice, there a little cut
Three percent for sleeping with the window shut
When it comes to fixing prices
There are a lot of tricks he knows
How it all increases, all them bits and pieces
Jesus! It's amazing how it grows!

Donald Trump and his Trump Trolls

Master of the house, quick to catch yer eye
Never wants a passerby to pass him by
Servant to the poor, butler to the great
Comforter, philosopher, and lifelong mate!
Everybody's boon companion
Gives 'em everything he's got

Donald Trump

Dirty bunch of geezers
Jesus! What a sorry little lot!

Melania Trump

I used to dream that I would meet a prince
But God Almighty, have you seen what's happened since?

Master of the house, isn't worth my spit
Comforter, philosopher and lifelong shit!
Cunning little brain, regular Voltaire
Thinks he's quite a lover but there's not much there!

What a cruel trick of nature landed me with such a louse
God knows how I've lasted living with this bastard in the house!

Trump's Trolls

Master of the house!

Melania

Master of The House

Comforter, philosopher

Don't make me laugh!

Servant to the poor, butler to the great

Hypocrite and toady, balding pate

All

Everybody bless the landlord!
Everybody bless his spouse!

Donald Trump

Everybody raise a glass

Melania

Raise it up the master's arse

All:

Everybody raise a glass to the Master of the House!

Emperor Caligula Carrot, Donald, the first of his name, has a clusterfuck on his hands.

"Demolition"

[Sung by Flash and his Cronies in their Den]

I spy with my little eye
Anything here that I can buy.
I see a little thatched cottage
Looking so neat
With compulsory purchase we can buy it up cheap.
Then we'll pull up the floor boards,
Knock down the walls,
Rock the foundations,
Until the house falls.
Like a pack of cards,
Crashing to the ground.
Then we'll build a row
Of identical boxes
And sell them all off at treble the profits.
Demolition.

The deeds are in my pocket,
I've got a contract in my hand.
An opportunity for luxury living.
I'll arrange the mortgage
To be repaid a hundred percent.
I can't wait around so make your decision.
We'll buy up all the cottages
And every house and every street,
Until we've got everything we need.
Every town in the vicinity,
Every farm and village green.
We're gonna buy up everything,
Then it's Demolition.
Demolition. Demolition.

Two up, two down,
It hasn't got a garden,
But it's got a lovely patio.
Stainless steel kitchen sink,
Gas fired central heating,
Whaaa - specifically designed for modern-day living,
Nothing's permanent and nothing lasts,
We've sold all the houses so put 'em up fast.
We're gonna buy up this town
And pull it all down.
How I love to hear the demolition sound
Of concrete crashing to the ground.
Demolition.

It's time to make some money,
It's time to get rich quick.
It's the wonderful world of capitalism.
I've got to make a profit,
I've got to satisfy my greed,
It's my faith and my religion,
Demolition. Demolition. Demolition.
And we'll buy up the towns,
And we'll knock 'em all down
Build a brand new world of our own.
[Repeat]

In the mornin you go gunnin'
For the man who stole your water
And you fire till he is done in
But they catch you at the border
And the mourners are all singin'
As they drag you by your feet
But the hangman isn't hangin'
And they put you on the street

[Chorus:]
You go back Jack do it again
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round
You go back Jack do it again

When you know she's no high climber
Then you find your only friend
In a room with your two timer
And you're sure you're near the end
Then you love a little wild one
And she brings you only sorrow
All the time you know she's smilin'
You'll be on your knees tomorrow

[Chorus]

Now you swear and kick and beg us
That you're not a gamblin' man
Then you find you're back in Vegas
With a handle in your hand
Your black cards can make you money
So you hide them when you're able
In the land of milk and honey
You must put them on the table

- mentions of Public Enemy, as a political voice

"Kendrick is the highest selling rap album this year, right? If we look back maybe two or three years ago, political rap doesn’t sell, right. You know, but he’s changing that narrative. Kinda taking it back to the times where Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back sold two million copies to a seventh grader like me right? At that time. So. It’s going back to that time. It’s slowly going back to that time. But it’s going to take a while."

-"Or same thing for Beyoncé, giving a job to… her whole band is female. Giving a job to a woman who may have been a great bassist, who couldn’t become a bassist in another band because that particular band didn’t wanna hire a woman as a bassist, right. She hired an entire band of, of, of women."

Educating Hip Hop

DJ, Producer, North Carolina Central and Duke University Professor 9th Wonder talks about the preservation of a Hip Hop archive and legacy.

From full transcript, provided

"We chose, or I chose, 200 albums. Don’t ask me why I tried to do it but as painstaking as it was I chose 200 albums. And we’re admitting every year maybe four, then ten, then twenty. And the first four that we did was Nas’ Illmatic. Uh Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly. A Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill by Lauryn Hill. "

"I didn’t see my first quote-unquote face of color on MTV until like 1982. 1983, right? So I think when, now when I DJ like my class reunion, or I DJ, I do parties called 95LIVE where we play, you know, ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s music. You know, when I play a Guns and Roses record, I’m not only speaking to somebody who you think would should be listening to Guns and Roses. I’m also speaking to every kid that was in 8th ( grade) when Appetite for Destruction was released, right? If I play a Das EFX record They Want EFX, I’m not speaking to me, or somebody think that I would listen to that. I’m also speaking to every kid that listened to the urban hip-hop station in, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina at the time."

" We’re not just a rock generation, we’re not just a hip-hop generation. We grew up listening to everything because the way mass media was set up we had to."

Well, the first thing I want to say is:
Mandate my ass!

Because it seems as though we've been convinced
that 26% of the registered voters,
not even 26% of the American people,
but 26% of the registered voters
form a mandate or a landslide.

21% voted for Skippy
and 3, 4% voted for somebody else
who might have been running

But, oh yeah, I remember.

In this year that we have now declared the year
from Shogun to Reagan,
I remember what I said about Reagan,
I meant it.

Acted like an actor.
Hollyweird.
Acted like a liberal.
Acted like General Franco
when he acted like governor of California,
then he acted like a Republican.
Then he acted like somebody was going to vote for him for president.
And now we act like 26% of the registered voters is actually a mandate.
We're all actors in this I suppose.

What has happened is that in the last 20 years, America has changed from a producer to a consumer.

And all consumers know that when the producer names the tune, the consumer has got to dance.

That's the way it is. We used to be a producer - very inflexible at that, and now we are consumers and, finding it difficult to understand.

Natural resources and minerals will change your world. The Arabs used to be in the 3rd World. They have bought the 2nd World and put a firm down payment on the 1st one.

Controlling your resources we'll control your world.
This country has been surprised by the way the world looks now.
They don't know if they want to be Matt Dillon or Bob Dylan.
They don't know if they want to be diplomats
or continue the same policy -

of nuclear nightmare diplomacy.

John Foster Dulles ain't nothing but the name of an airport now.

The idea concerns the fact that this country wants nostalgia.
They want to go back as far as they can -
even if it's only as far as last week.
Not to face now or tomorrow, but to face backwards.

And yesterday was the day of our cinema heroes
riding to the rescue at the last possible moment.
The day of the man in the white hat
or the man on the white horse -
or the man who always came to save America
at the last moment -
someone always came to save America
at the last moment -
especially in "B" movies.

And when America found itself having a hard time facing the future,
they looked for people like John Wayne.
But since John Wayne was no longer available,
they settled for Ronald Reagan
and it has placed us in a situation
that we can only look at -
like a "B" movie.

Verse 7
Verse 8
Verse 9

Nostalgia, that's what we want…:
the good ol' days, when we gave'em hell.
When the buck stopped somewhere
and you could still buy something with it.
To a time when movies were in black and white,
and so was everything else.
Even if we go back to the campaign trail,
before six-gun Ron shot off his face
and developed hoof-in-mouth.

Before the free press went down before full-court press,
and were reluctant to review the menu
because they knew the only thing available was...

Crow.

Their slogan is, "Why wait for 1984? You can panic now... and avoid the rush."

(song written before 1984- this song is over 40 years old...)

So much for the good news….

As Wall Street goes, so goes the nation.
And here's a look at the closing numbers:
racism's up, human rights are down,
peace is shaky, war items are hot.

The House claims all ties.
Jobs are down, money is scarce,
and common sense is at an all-time low on heavy trading.
Movies were looking better than ever, and now no one is looking,
because we're starring in a "B" movie.

And we would rather had... John Wayne.
We would rather had... John Wayne.

"You don't need to be in no hurry.
You ain't never really got to worry.
And you don't need to check on how you feel.
Just keep repeating that none of this is real.
And if you're sensing, that something's wrong,
Well just remember, that it won't be too long
Before the director cuts the scene.
yea."

"This ain't really your life,
Ain't really your life,
Ain't really ain't nothing but a movie."

"This ain't really your life,
Ain't really your life,
Ain't really ain't nothing but a movie."

"I could not believe what I was hearing. I cannot believe this is happening. I was wearing too much make- up. I can't cry."

"At the time..."

"I cannot believe what I am hearing."

"I cannot believe this is happening."

"...the camera."

"I have too much makeup on, cannot cry."

"I have too much make-up on, can't cry"

I do not watch FOX "news," or any other FOX "news" spinoff. I was listening to Boston Common, and the last minute of the program had this woman's voice, in a sound bite.

How many people interviewed her ? (I had no idea who Kat Timpf, is, until now.) I had no idea of what was making her feel as if she had to cry. She was talking about being on camera. )

Timpf's reaction to Trump was even replayed hours later by Rachel Maddow on MSNBC. That left her vulnerable to attack by Trump supporters, who seem to take particular affront when the president is criticized on Fox.

Some messages were unprintably vile; Timpf retweeted one.

(gsgs comment- Her retweet was not much different from the language our GB trolls use- skank, cunt, she is a slim blonde FOX TV woman, so the insult about fat is missing. Sexual assault threat is included, though. Standard.

Of, course, there are death threats against her family, and herself.
Standard. Was FOX "news" missing this particular part of the demographic ?)

Timpf, in an interview, said she was particularly chilled by one tweet that called her "a disgrace to the white race."

I've gotten some positive things, but the negativity I've gotten is incredibly disturbing," she said. "I've seen enough to know just how disturbing the climate is right now. I'm fully aware of it and don't need any more bringing me down on a personal level."

She said that "it doesn't seem like it's too difficult to do the right thing and respond by saying 'Nazis are bad.' I can't believe that my stance is a controversial stance, or something you need to even take a stand on at all these days. It's really upsetting."

Timpf said she didn't care if she'd lost some support from Fox viewers.

"There's nothing in my head that has me even considering approaching things in any other way than I have approached it," she said.

Chicago Tribune gets dragged into FOX TV news melodrama, and its cast of thousands.

FOX TV is Emperor Carrot's best friend! Oh, wait, someone on FOX TV said something negative about Emperor Carrot.

Do not like the current cycle ?
Wait a minute.

Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
End up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man said "son if it was up to me"
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said "son, don't you understand"

I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., I'm a long gone daddy in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.
Born in the U.S.A., I'm a cool rocking daddy in the U.S.A.

Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC
Didn't get to bed last night
On the way the paper bag was on my knee
Man, I had a dreadful flight

I'm back in the USSR
You don't know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the USSR, yeah

...,

Come and keep your comrade warm

I'm back in the USSR
Hey, you don't know how lucky you are, boy
Back in the USSR
Oh, let me tell you honey

This one isn't as political, but even weirder and the lead singer makes me think of a younger Bay Buchanan.
