Interesting twist might be that Mom hires an older woman, not very attractive, who barely speaks English. she is there primarily to fetch him water, etc. But Mom said " take care of all his needs". when he sprouts wood, she immediately starts to give relief. at first he is conflicted - she's really NOT attractive...but soon his hormones take over...

"Fetch" is "go and bring back". It has a few other obscure meanings, but none of them related to making arrows.
You might be thinking of "fletch".
