Ice cubes flying out of the sky at a leisurely speed. Some of them are stuck together. Hail the size of a snowball ? NH lost trees and power last night.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for extreme northeastern Suffolk County and south central Essex County in Massachusetts.

DJs from WFNX’s 30-year past will man the mics before programming is automated at 7 p.m.

Jock-less programming on 101.7 FM will continue until Clear Channel initiates its own broadcasts.

After that, WFNX will continue as a fully automated, Web-only streaming station.

Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers picked an interesting night for his first visit to Fenway Park, the Red Sox taking a 3-1 win
over the Chicago White Sox on a Cody Ross walkoff home run last Thursday.

Liverpool recently became the first soccer club to sign a uniform deal with Warrior Sports, a subsidiary of New Balance. On Tuesday,

Menino maintains his opposition to Chick-file-A but admits he can’t stop the chain from coming to Boston


[Mayor] Menino caused a stir last week when he wrote an ireful letter to the restaurant chain’s president, Dan Cathy, who told the Baptist Press
this month that his company is ‘‘guilty as charged’’ as a supporter of organizations rallying against same-sex marriage.

The company was considering opening a location on Union Street, across the street from City Hall and from Faneuil Hall. After learning about the
company leadership’s anti-gay views, Menino issued a letter to Cathy, lambasting the president’s view.

“I was angry to learn on the heels of your prejudiced statements about your search for a site to locate in Boston,” Menino wrote. “There is no
place for discrimination on Boston’s Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it.

“I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston,” Menino said.

A scientist said he is "more than 90 percent" that a man swimming off Truro was attacked by a great white shark, the first such attack since 1936

“In all likelihood, these injuries can be attributed to a great white shark,’’ Greg Skomal said at an afternoon press conference in Boston.
“While the last confirmed injury caused by a white shark in Massachusetts occurred in 1936, the weight of evidence -
including eyewitness sighting of a fin, the presence of seals, and the extent of injury -- points to a white shark.’’

Skomal is a senior scientist with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries.

If there are warnings posted on the beach, it is for a good reason.

Being sliced open and slashed to the bone, is not pleasant.

Clear Channel CFO Tom Casey reported radio revenue (now known as Clear Channel Media and Entertainment) increased $21 Million in the second quarter of 2012.

Total revenue increased from $771.8 Million in the second quarter of 2011 to $793 Million in 2012. Clear Channel says that growth was due to "higher revenues from both national and local advertising as well as digital radio services."

Casey said the top categories were automotive, telecommunications, political, financial services and entertainment. Casey also said national advertising is growing double the rate of local. Clear Channel took in $9 Million in political revenue during the second quarter and the company expects that to increase in the next quarter.

Water spout funnel moved onshore, and moved inland as a tornado, for a minute.
EF0 Weak, but caused damage.

They checked, and confirmed that it was there, and it is now a fact.

The National Weather Service confirmed on Saturday that a microburst hit an area of Taunton, MA,
on Friday afternoon. The microburst was estimated to be about 600 feet in width.

They call them flash floods, for a reason-

Westgate Mall, perhaps the biggest victim of the flash flooding. Westgate Drive was an estimated three feet under water
at one point, leaving several cars flooded in the rain waters. Best Buy had to close.

Unconfirmed reports of a funnel cloud over Manchester and Vernon, Conn.

Heavy duty lightning ? check
Heavy downpours and flooding ? check
Damaging winds ? check
Downed trees and downed power lines ? check

Trees pulled up out of the ground and flung far ?

As thousands of onlookers cheered from Castle Island in South Boston, the USS Constitution sailed under its own power Sunday [8/19/2012]
for just the second time in 131 years, marking the 200th anniversary of the battle that earned it the nickname Old Ironsides.

The Constitution was towed past the crowd to a point between Castle Island and Deer Island. About 200 sailors then unfurled four of its sails
before it was released from its tugboat tethers and sailed toward open water for about 10 minutes.

Military Training Exercises Next Two Weeks

Joint federal military training exercises will take place within and around the Boston area between July 26th and August 5th. Military personnel will conduct
training exercises to ensure the military's ability to operate in urban environments, prepare forces for upcoming overseas deployments, and meet mandatory
training certification requirements. Helicopters will be used in these exercises.

The Boston Police Department is working with military personnel to coordinate training sites that will minimize negative impacts on our Boston citizens and
their daily routines. Safety precautions have been taken to prevent risk to the general public and the military personnel involved. With that, training site
locations are not open to the public and will be guarded by uniformed personnel to provide additional safety.
