"Maybe Tomorrow" ~ Stereophonics

I've been down and
I'm wondering why
These little black clouds
Keep walking around
With me
With me

It wastes time
And I'd rather be high
Think I'll walk me outside
And buy a rainbow smile
But be free
They're all free

So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home

I look around at a beautiful life
Been the upperside of down
Been the inside of out
But we breathe
We breathe

I wanna breeze and an open mind
I wanna swim in the ocean
Wanna take my time for me
All me

So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home

figure youout
nickelback
I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease

And I love the places that we go
And I love the people that you know
And I love the way you can't say "No"
Too many long lines in a row
I love the powder on your nose

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

I like the freckles on your chest
And I like the way you like me best
And I like the way you're not impressed
While you put me to the test

I like the white stains on your dress
I love the way you pass the check
And I love the good times that you wreck
And I love your lack of self respect
While you're passed out on the deck
I love my hands around your neck

And I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

And I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why
Why not before, you never tried
Gone for good, and this is it

I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease

And I hate the places that we go
And I hate the people that you know
And I hate the way you can't say "No"
Too many long lines in a row
I hate the powder on your nose

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
Now I did, you wonder why
Why not before, you never tried
Gone for good, and this is it

Vella - excellent choice. Went to see them live at the Brixton Academy in London last year and they were superb. The reaction from the crowd at that song was incredible.

The Earl

Green and Dumb

The daisies stand up on their tiptoes,
Clouds tumble over themselves in the sky,
And all the pretty horses come runnin' to her,
Even the dust devils pray that they'll catch her eye.

I haunt her house from the outside,
I watch her bake cornbread and talk on the phone,
The wireless on the inside plays a sad sweet song,
A mute moonlit statue am I, she waltzes alone.

But baby, baby, I could call you baby,
If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue.
Baby, baby, I could call you baby,
If I weren't so green and dumb.

Wind ain't stopped blowing since morning,
It’s got me froze up on the inside,
And I could get warm in the bunkhouse,
Thaw out on coffee and bread.

But baby, baby, I could call you baby,
If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue.
But baby, baby, I could call you baby,
If I weren't so green and dumb.

I need your government warnin’,
Like I need a hole in my head.
Well, I won't shoot your coyotes, and I won't burn your weeds,
Your paycheck won't fill up this hollow, it won't dull all the achin'.

But baby, baby, I could call you baby,
If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue.
But baby, baby, I could call you baby,
If I weren't so green and dumb.

"Enemy" ~ Sevendust

Step up to me - Step up to me
You wanna be a big time player - it's not to be
Look at all the snide ass - actin like a wise ass
I'll fuck up your face and you'll never look back

So when you fall to the ground
And finally get back to reality
And no one at all is around
So tell me how does it feel to be the enemy?

Step up to me - Step up to me
Step up to me - Step up to me
You wanna be a big time player - it’s not to be

Look at your face - look at your name
It's funny you’re a loser with only yourself to blame
Cut your fucking hair now - scared of all the stare downs
You wanna be like me cause it's real
So you steal on your way to fame
Never gonna be - never gonna see
Your name in lights - you can always dream what ‘cha could've been
Clean up my shit - you look like a dick
Step to unemployment - step

Step! Step up to me – step up
You’re the enemy!

I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul
You're the one I wanna chase
You're the one I wanna hold
I wont let another minute go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul

I know that you are something special
To you I'd be always faithful
I want to be what you always needed
Then I hope you'll see the heart in me

I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul
You're the one I wanna chase
You're the one I wanna hold
I wont let another minute go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul

Your beautiful soul, yeah
You might need time to think it over
But im just fine moving forward
I'll ease your mind
If you give me the chance
I will never make you cry c`mon lets try

I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul
You're the one I wanna chase
You're the one I wanna hold
I wont let another minute go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul

Am I crazy for wanting you
Baby do you think you could want me too
I don't wanna waste your time
Do you see things the way I do
I just wanna know if you feel it too
There is nothing left to hide

I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul
You're the one I wanna chase
You're the one I wanna hold
I wont let another minute go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul

You beautiful soul, yeah

Jesse McCartney ~Beautiful Soul :rose:

I need help with a song title, maybe one of you out there will know it. I think it's from the 70's. The lyrics are something like:

I feel fine,
Talkin bout peice of mind,
And I'm gonna take my time,
(Havin' a good time) <-----Not to sure about this one
I'm runnin the line
Runnin the line
Runnin the line
Runnin the line

Not really to sure about most of the lyrics. Heard it a week or so ago and I's been running around in my brain ever since.

Anybody know the band or even the title???

HUGE SMILES!

A Rosemary Clooney original, sung for me via voicemail by the most beautiful woman I know.

You'll never know just how much I miss you
You'll never know just how much I care
And if I tried, I still couldn't hide my love for you
You ought to know, for haven't I told you so
A million or more times?

You went away and my heart went with you
I speak your name in my every prayer
If there is some other way to prove that I love you
I swear I don't know how
You'll never know if you don't know now

In a bit of a bleak mood.

So I want to hear Phantom's Theme (Beauty and the Beast) from Phantom of The Paradise.

Half asleep I hear a voice.
Is it only in my mind?
Or is it someone calling me,
someone I failed and left behind

To work it out I let them in.
All the good guys and the bad guys that I've been.
All the devils that disturbed me,
and the angels that defeated them somehow,
come together in me now.

Face to face I greet the cast.
Set in silence we begin.
Companions in an empty room,
I taste their victory and sin.

To work it out I let them in.
All the good guys and the bad guys that I've been.
All the devils that disturbed me,
and the angels that defeated them somehow,
come together in me now.

A tale of beauty and the beast.
I defend my soul from those who would accuse me.
I share the famine and the feast.
I have been the world and felt it turning,
seen the jester yearning to amuse me.

Like a circus on parade,
seldom close enough to see.
I wander through an angry crowd,
and wonder what became of me.

To work it out I let them in.
All the good guys and the bad guys that I've been.
All the devils that disturbed me,
and the angels that defeated them somehow,
come together in me now.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Louis Armstrong ~What a Wonderful World

Sitting drinking vodka and moping, so we'll have a bit of maudlin music:

I just don't think I'll ever get over you - Colin James Hay

I drink good coffee every morning
Comes from a place that's far away
And when I'm done I feel like talking
Without you here there is less to say
I don't want you thinking I'm unhappy
What is closer to the truth
That if I lived till I was 102
I just don't think I'll ever get over you

If I Didn't Love You
(Difford/Tilbrook)
If I didn't love you I'd hate you
Watching you play in the bath
A soap suds stickle back navy
A scrubbing brush landing craft
Your skin gets softer and warmer
I pat you down with a towel
Tonight it's love by the fire
My mind goes out on the prowl
If I If I If I If I If I

If I didn't love you I'd hate you
I'm playing your stereogram
Singles remind me of kisses
Albums remind me of plans
Tonight it's love by the fire
The wind plays over the coals
Passionate looks are my fancy
But you turn the look into stone

If I didn't love you
Would you sit and glow by the fire
If I didn't love you
Would you make me feel so
Maybe love me
Oh if I didn't love you

If I didn't love you I'd hate you
Cocoa mugs sit side by side
It's time to poke at the fire
But it's not tonight
Looks I find
Taking a bite on a biscuit
The record jumps on a scratch
Tonight it's love by the fire
The door of your love's on the latch

If I, if I, if I
Didn't, didn't, didn't
Love you, love you, love you

"Done With You" ~Papa Roach

I count the days that we have spent apart
I've got a bad liver and a broken heart
Theres no salvation in the comfort of you
I finally realized you're tearing me apart

So help me, save me, tell me that the end is near
Help me, save me, tell me that the end is near
I am done with you

You make my life completely miserable
You drove me to the edge, you've caused me all this pain
But I've always loved you cause your oh so special
I'm broken and I'm alone and I can't maintain

Done with you (done with you)
I am done with you (done with you)
I am done with you (done with you)
I am done with you (you, done with you)

I count the days that we have spent apart
I've got a bad liver and a broken heart

I am done with you

Something to lighten the mood.

My Baby Loves A Bunch Of Authours by Moxy Fruvous

Well you should see my story reading baby,
you should hear the things that she says,
She says "Hon, drop dead,
I'd rather go to bed
with Gabriel Garcia Marquez."
Cuddle up with William S. Burrows,
leave on the light for Bell Hooks,
I've been flirtin' with Pierre Burton
'cause he's so smart in his books

I like to go out dancing,
My baby loves a bunch of authors.
My heart's so broke and bleedin'
Baby's just sitting there,
doing some reading.

So I started watching some TV,
played my new cd player too.
She said: "Turn it off or I'll call the cops
and I'll throw the book at you."
All this arguing made me get dizzy,
called my doctor to come have a look.
I said: "Doctor hurry!"
He said: "Don't worry,
I'll be over when I finish my book"

I like to go out dancing,
My baby loves a bunch of authors.
We've been livin in hovels,
spendin' all our money on,
brand new novels.

So I got myself on a streetcar
and it drove right into someone,
You know the driver said:
"I was lookin' straight ahead!"
But he was reading the Toronto Sun.
So my honey and me go to a counsellor,
to help figure out what we need.
She said: "We'll get your love growing,
but before we get going,
here's some books I'd like you to read."

I like to go out dancing,
My baby loves a bunch of authors.
Lately we've had some friction,
'Cause my baby's hooked on,
short works of fiction

So we split and went to a party,
some friends my girl said she knew
But what a sight
'cause it's authors night
and the place looks like a who's who
Now I'm pounding the ouzo
with Mario Puzo
Who's a funny fella?
W.P. Kinsella
Who brought the cat?
Would Margeret Atwood?
Who needs a shave?
He's Robertson Davies!
Ondaatje started a food fight,
salmon mousse all over the scene.
Spilled some dressing on Doris Lessing,
these writer types are a scream!

I like to go out dancing,
My baby loves a bunch of authors
We'll be together for ages
Eatin' and Sleepin' and
Eatin' and Sleepin' and
Eating und Sleeping und
Turnin' pages.

Yeah!

My son and I were baking cookies earlier and this song came on, it makes me weepy every time I hear it. Damn you Dan Fogelberg, damn you to nostalgia hell. :( It is a really good song though.

Same Old Lang Syne

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve

She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried.

We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totalled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged.

We went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie.

I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw
Doubt or gratitude.

She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how.

We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence
Another 'auld lang syne'...

The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away.

Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain --

Wenn Engel Hassen - Subway to Sally

I like this song. It says how I feel at Christmas.

Fairy Tale of New York by The Pogues

(Male voice)
It was Christmas Eve babe,
In the drunk tank,
An old man said to me,
won’t see another one,
and then he sang a song.
The words were not in tune
I turned my face away.
And dreamed about you.

Got on a lucky one,
Came in eighteen to one,
I’ve got a feeling,
This year’s for me and you,
So Happy Christmas.
I love you baby,
I can see a better time,
When all our dreams come true.

(Female voice)
They’ve got cars big as bars,
They’ve got rivers of gold,
But the wind goes right through you,
It’s no place for the old.
When you first took my hand,
On a cold Christmas eve,
You promised me Broadway was waiting for me.
You were handsome.

(Male voice)
You were pretty,
queen of New York City.

(Both)
When the band finished playing,
They howled out for more.
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing,
We kissed on a corner,
then danced through the night.

(Both)
The boys of the NYPD choir,
were singing Galway Bay.
And the bells were ringing out,
For Christmas Day.

(Female voice)
You’re a bum.
You’re a punk.

(Male voice)
You’re an old slut on junk,
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed.

(Female voice)
You scumbag, you maggot.
You cheap lousy faggot,
Happy Christmas you arse,
I pray God it’s our last.

(Both)
The boys of the NYPD choir,
were singing Galway Bay.
And the bells were ringing out,
For Christmas Day.

(Male voice)
I could have been someone.

(Female voice)
Well so could anyone,
You took my dreams from me,
When I first found you.

(Male voice)
I kept them with me babe,
I put them with my own.
Can’t make it all alone,
I’ve built my dreams around you.

(Both)
The boys of the NYPD choir,
were singing Galway Bay.
And the bells were ringing out,
For Christmas Day.

This song makes me soooooo happy, lol.
I cannot control myself when I hear it. :D
Not quite sure why. :)

AC/DC YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG lyrics
She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there

'Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were makin it and you -

CHORUS:
Shook me all night long
Yeah you shook me all night long

Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine
She wanted no applause
Just another course
Made a meal out of me and came back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing

'Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were makin it and you -

CHORUS

And knocked me out and then you
Shook me all night long
You had me shakin' and you
Shook me all night long
Yeah you shook me
Well you took me

You really took me and you
Shook me all night long
Ooooh you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, yeah, you
Shook me all night long

Your really took me and you
Yeah you shook me, yeah you shook me
All night long

:D

After my little rant on another thread, I need to hear Nautical Disaster by The Tragically Hip

To me, this song is about Dieppe. Our brainless 'friend' can look it up.

I had this dream,
where I relished,
the fray,
and the screaming filled my head all day.

It was as though,
I'd been spit here,
settled in,
into the pocket,
of a lighthouse on some rocky socket,
off the coast of France, dear.

One afternoon,
four thousand men,
died in the water,
here,
and five hundred more were thrashing madly,
as parasites might in your blood.

Now I was in a lifeboat designed for ten,
and ten only,
anything that systematic would get you hated.
It's not a deal,
nor a test,
nor a love of something fated.
The selection was quick,
the crew picked,
and those left in the water got kicked off our pantleg,
and we headed for home.

Then the dream ends,
when the phone rings,
you doing alright, he said.
it's out there most days and nights,
but only a fool would complain.

Anyway Susan,
if you like,
our conversation is as faint as a sound in my
memory,
as those fingernails scratching on
my hull.

"Poem For A Little Lady" ~ Kenny Rogers

She’s young and soft and kind, and she deserves a whole lot better..
Than a guitar picking drifter, who never gave a damn.

And if loving me is all, she ever wants I'm gonna let her..
And I’ll try to be kind of man, she thinks I am.

She makes those little kitten sounds, and trembles when I love her..
She makes me feel so big and strong in me..
She whispers how she can not wait, to be my baby’s mother..
She’s the only glimpse of God... I’ve ever seen.

Her mama should have warned her, 'Never take out with a poet',
For poets travel rocky roads, in search of truth and life...

I’m the only blemish on her virgin soul but she don’t know it..
And I thank the Lord she’s lying gentle..by my side tonight.

Somebody said I should post a happy song for once.

So here's Take The Skinheads Bowling by Camper van Beethoven

Every day, I get up and pray to Jah
And he decreases the number of clocks by exactly one
Everybody's comin' home for lunch these days
Last night there were skinheads on my lawn

Take the skinheads bowling
Take them bowling
Take the skinheads bowling
Take them bowling

Some people say that bowling alleys got big lanes
Some people say that bowling alleys all look the same
There's not a line that goes here that rhymes with anything

I has a dream last night, but I forget what it was
I had a dream last night about you, my friend
I had a dream--I wanted to sleep next to plastic
I had a dream--I wanted to lick your knees
I had a dream--it was about nothing

Here's a strange and wonderful song by a strange and wonderful group: The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. One of their members, Bill Brown, recently lost his life in a house fire. RIP.

TIME WARP
like Houdini in the river with a lock he couldn't see
when you think you hit the bottom then you better find the key
like Custer at the Horn when he turned around and said
"when you think you fin'lly got 'em, you're just as good as dead"

it's a time warp puttin' wrinkles in your skin
it's a rockabilly music make you silly in the end
it's a time warp puttin' circles on your eyes
it's a rockabilly music that's a blessing in disguise

like Ponce de Leon speakin' Spanish in the swamp
"I was lookin' for a fountain, but it's water that I want"
like Pike at the top and ev'ry other freak
"I was lookin' for a mountain, I took a little peak"

it's a time warp puttin' wrinkles in your skin
it's a rockabilly music make you silly in the end
it's a time warp puttin' circles on your eyes
it's a rockabilly music that's a blessing in disguise

like Buddah at the sermon when he didn't say a word
if you think you hear a flower, it's a flower that you heard
like da Vinci on the roof with his arm in a sling,
"A man's got the power, but a bird's got the wing"

it's a time warp puttin' wrinkles in your skin
it's a rockabilly music make you silly in the end
it's a time warp puttin' circles on your eyes
it's a rockabilly music that's a blessing in disguise

like Vincent Van Gogh when he chopped off his ear,
"I'd like to give her twenty, but I still gotta hear"
like Crockett at the wall lookin' back to Tennessee,
"the livin' costs you plenty, but the dyin's still for free"

it's a time warp puttin' wrinkles in your skin
it's a rockabilly music make you silly in the end
it's a time warp puttin' circles on your eyes
it's a rockabilly music that's a blessing in disguise

Arrogant Worms, The Same Christmas Cake

I love this song. It's funny and has a nice hymnal sound to it.

Christmas makes me realize how greatly things do change
Friends lose touch, people age, and family moves away
But it is what has stayed the same that gives me the most tears
For I've had the same Christmas cake for almost thirty years

Granny made it back in sixty-eight and gave it to my mom
Who gave it to her uncle who gave it to her son
Who then gave it to me and that is where it stuck
For I was only three months old and clearly out of luck

Each Christmas of my childhood that fruit-brick would return
My mom would place it on a plate and tell me i must learn
That it is rude to get a gift and not put it to use
And every year I'd take a bite and chip another tooth

After fifteen years of misery I'd had all I could take (all I could take)
That summer I went camping and dropped it in the lake (in the lake)
I thought that I was rid of it, but on Christmas Eve (Christmas Eve)
There it was from Santa Claus under the Christmas tree (Christmas tree)

Each year I'd try to lose it but it would just return
So I cried out "oh why have I been given such a burden?"
A voice replied, "it's not a curse, but the greatest gift
"For when all else abandons you, you will still have it."

For all of man's creations slowly waste away
Relationships do crumble and buildings do decay
The pyramids and stonehenge slowly disappear
But if they were made of Christmas cake they'd last a million years
