New to me HP
I haven't come across that one before. It's in neither Chambers, nor the Concise Scots Dictionary.
It is in the Oxford though:
adj; boldly dispespectful, impudent
n; an impudent person.
Origin; Middle English

I've discovered another old Scots word:
Malapert
It's a less than complimentary expression for a young woman of unsavoury, impudent or saucy behaviour.
