Hello all,

I have found myself in a love affair with the Sufi Poet Rumi, just wondering if anyone else gets lost in his words....and if so what is your favorite piece?

The quote that speaks to me today is:

Something opens our wings. Something makes boredom and hurt disappear. Someone fills the cup in front of us: We taste only sacredness ~ Rumi

Blessings!

Those sweet words we shared between us,
the vault of heaven has concealed in its heart.
One day, they will pour down like rain.
Our secrets will germinate in the soil of this universe.

Now that is just beautiful!! Thank you for sharing. I had not had the pleaure to read this. :rose:

leave me ruined, exhausted from the journey of this night

this leaves so much to the imagination about which journey he embarked upon..

from "on the deathbed"
I'm inclined to think he's Do-not-go-gentle-ing at someone, but beautifully so.
Been a long time since I thought about Rumi, thanks for reminding me.

I will have to read the full verse, and you are most welcome. Lately his words seem to just fit into how I am feeling...

is that ... kind of existential, but in a medieval way, and in harem pants?

You my dear are good! 7 is exactly the number I was thinking :D

*makes impressive mystical-looking gestures, and then gives a big, deep belly laugh that echoes around the enclosed garden, whilst stroking his long, pointed beard*

so .. uh .. I'll cue up the tanburs and drums and whatnot

*wipes the drool off his chin*

yes please do.....*your ears follow the tinkle of bells with each step I take to the center of the garden* ready??? lol

My Rumi quote for the day.......

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against "

So very true, we build our own inner prisons, and sometimes forget that we have always held the key to freedom.

Rumi said:
In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
you dance inside my chest
where no-one else sees you
but sometimes I do
and that sight becomes this art
This puts all I feel about love, poetry and beauty into perfect words.

Ululations and Undulations

Baby pick up your tongue.
Cymbals clash
Round hips thrash.
And I whisper the night is still young.

The first veil falls
Revealing the skin of my shoulder,
Smooth and white,
Perfect for a kiss.

The second veil falls
Allowing you,
A glimpse of my hair,
As dark as night.

With the third,
We pause and wonder,
At an ankle,
So demurely exposed.

Then the thigh,
As the fourth veil goes.
The shadowed vale of mystery,
I suppose,
Will follow with the fifth veil's slip,
The hints of a seduction,
Alluring.

When the sixth falls to the floor,
you know it's just one pin more,
Securing the seventh.
What lies beneath?
A mystery so appealing.

When the silk is away,
You see me.
My visage was what,
It was concealing,
I stand.

I stand,
Panting and yearning,
Knowing more's to come.
Baby, pick up your tongue.

WOW!! This manages to capture exactly how it feels to dance for some one...... I need to get out my veils now!! Again thank you so much for sharing.

Did you write this? If so would you mind if I shared this with a dear friend? She is a professional Belly Dancer and would love this.

Hugs,

That is absurdly hot. And beautiful as well.

Love is a lot like breaking and entering. It helps to have an accomplice on the inside.

Love is a lot like breaking and entering. It helps to have an accomplice on the inside.

It does help, but it is getting the accomplice inside to trust. Which the lack there of, or fear of can build those walls even higher.

I like your breaking and entering image. The sly one that can pick the lock and sneak in and take the heart without even knowing.

sure, anyone can kick the door down and terrorize the house.
I'm aspiring to be the love-ninja ...
except then you wouldn't know I'd been there.
hm
Anyway, I'm creeping around the house, checking to see if any of the windows aren't locked.
