Using Literotica stories in games?

Hi,

I have been into developing adult games for some months now and seem to have reached a wall concerning my abilities to come up with a good story, dialog or general storyline tempo/dynamic.

Also being from a non-English speaking country doesn’t help :) I am completely sure that my writing does not reflect spirit of an English-speaking community.

I’m now on a search for a good, solid, proven erotic story that could be translated into a game, not just a typical visual novel, but a game that would also include interactive parts & can have more exploratory momentum.

I realize that all stories posted on Literotica are the work of their respected authors and are neither in Public Domain nor are Creative Commons. I am not sure, however, if my actions in obtaining the story should include only contacting the author of a story or should I also be concerned about the Literotica website rights? Do I have to get permission both from the author and from the website or only from the author?

...if someone has time & would like to see the two games I created so far here are the links on Newgrounds game portal:

Literotica don't have exlusive rights to the stories. Authors are dre to publish or otherwise do what they want with their stories. So you're safe as long as you get approval from the author.

Feel free to browse my stories below if you want. Not sure any would be useful for a game setting.

@electricblue66

Excellent news and a very useful link, I’m not sure how I’ve missed it in FAQ.

@tomlitilia

Thank you for replying and for the link to your stories. I am a bit overwhelmed by the number of stories on Literotica, I have some serious reading to do :)

Maybe if you give some hints about what kind of story you're after you can get some useful suggestions.

Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

My first idea is to maybe search through Sci-Fi & Fantasy category because in the non-confrontational surroundings (contemporary) it would be much harder to implement possible action/exploration parts. The WWII or similar environments would also be o.k. The forest, space or battle fields could be very useful for enhancing the gameplay.

Also story with one protagonist but multiple characters (that are not all vital in main storyline) would be preferable.

It doesn't have to be a short story, the game-episodes with 'to be continued' system could also be very good. In that way I could see if the game succeeded to form a modest number of players before continuing with development of another episode.

The game I'm planning to create would be for casual players, mostly web & android oriented, so there will be no need for high-end engines, shaders, full 3D environments etc. :)

What are you trying to do, really?

Are you a proven programmer?

Do you have a genre?

A good fighting game story is different than a good RPG story which is different than a good dating game story.

You are pretty vague here.

There is no reason for aggression, I am very familiar with game genres and I'm sure that RTS, TBS or FPS genres can't be applied on a literature.

I used the term 'proven' story to explain that I'm interested in already published work. Similar to creating a film from a loved book, or game from a popular comic.

The indie & casual games gives creators freedom to experiment with genres. As I mentioned, I would like to find a story with which I can discretely add story-neutral gameplay.

For example I started reading 'The Missing Dragon' by Lien Geller. In that story the protagonist is being attacked by a female orc that becomes his servant.

In that setting I could add a need to search for firewood or food, there could be hostile orcs in the forest or troops patrolling the area. Things to do without disturbing the story. Something like extended visual novel or visual novel with a exploration/action parts.

There's no agression. I'm just pointing out that you aren't really providing much to work on here for your request, nor providing any reason for someone to take their time with you.

As for your beliefs that some genres won't fit, the game "whoremaster" could be considered tbs. There are other TBS with pornographic elements. Sexblivion is a mod that makes the FPS style rpg game Oblivion into a pornographic game. And I once made a map for Warcraft 3 that was only inches away from being pornographic as well.

So what you are going for is a visual novel then? Do you have artists lined up for the extra work?

Tell you what, I've been sitting on a story for the winter contest, but it's not really good enough to win, I'll submit it later tonight and give you non exclusive rights to make a game out of it.

It's a brother/sister incest story set in a cabin in a small town whose only bridge out gets destroyed in an avalanche.

You mentioned a chopping wood minigame, well the sister spends a lot of time doing that.

A lot of simple things you can do with it , it'd probably be ideal for what you seem to want. I'll pm you the link when it gets approved.

That's very generous, thank you, I would love to read it once it's approved. I also like the setting: small town, cabin, avalanche, it could make a good environment for a game.

Not sure about the incest aspect, I know it's generally very popular but I was aiming for something more neutral. However if the story is good, why not.
