About Bailey Ridge:

  • The Bailey Ridge neighborhood sits atop what had once been a long, narrow and rocky-topped ridge (thus the name) that sat in the middle of a miles-wide, flat, alluvial plain.
  • Prior to development, the ridge's highest point had been 400 feet above the floor of the surrounding valley, with the median height of its 5 peaks being 360 feet.
  • In the mid-1920s, a wealthy, powerful, and crooked land developer named Joseph Bailey bought the entirety of the ridge from the Federal Government. Using dynamite and cheap labor, Bailey removed as much as 100 feet from the top of the ridge, creating a roughly oval shaped, relatively flat plateau, 660 feet long and 330 feet wide.
  • To understand that size, imagine putting 3 football fields side by side (480x300 feet) and allowing for a track and viewing stands to surround it on all sides.
  • Bailey had intended on building a lavish mansion atop the plateau and surrounding it with a cattle ranch.
  • Then the Great Depression struck, and after his company collapsed, Bailey committed suicide. Without an heir and the taxes due, the land was deeded to the State.
  • In the 1980s, a wealthy entrepreneur bought the ridge and began building the current development, and due to his predilections with regards to sexual activity, the Bailey Ridge Swingers Club was born.
  • It cost him his entire fortune, but Terrance Mann was able to ultimately lure 12 swinging couples to his very regulated community during the '80s and '90s.
  • He and his new neighbors developed a strict code that was then used by the Home Owners Association to ensure that all new property owners were of the same preferences sexually as the others.
  • It wasn't until the arrival of Will and Lila Conroy and her adult age son, Jake Darrett, that a family was able to buy a home in Bailey Ridge without first going through the process called IOP -- Invite Only Parties -- which were designed to ensure that the current home owners that they were going to enjoy what the new owners had to offer, sexually.
