Personality:
  • He is a friendly guy who likes about everyone and is liked by about everyone.
  • He is dedicated to law and order and doing the right thing.
  • He is benevolent, often going out of his way to help others, even when they don't deserve it.
  • He is heterosexual. He doesn't rarely do well with girls; they find him too much of a good guy and he often finds himself standing in the can we be friends corner.

Family:
  • His parents died in a car crash in 2010 when he was just 12.
  • He and his then-8 year old sister, Laura (now 18) moved in with a single uncle.
  • The uncle was a worthless drunk. Winston essentially raised his sister.

History:
  • He grew up in Bailey Ridge.
  • He was in academic clubs: chess, math, science, FBLA, the Democracy League (to be explained in a future IC reply).
  • After high school, he got an AA degree at a local community college.
  • At 20, he went to the Police Academy, becoming only a Reserve Sheriff Deputy (because of his youth).
  • At 22, just 3 weeks before the Vanishings, he became the Deputy-in-Residence for Bailey Ridge.

Personality:
  • Very outgoing, very chipper, very friendly ... so long as you don't fuck her!
  • She can be a controlling bitch if she doesn't get her way.
  • She'd gotten away with it for most of her life because she usually fights for what's right.

  • But she is all about being fair, particularly for other females or anyone being bullied.

  • She considers herself a heterosexual, but while at college she did hooked up with a couple of females for curiosity's sake.

Personality:
  • He is confident to the point of being arrogant.
  • He is a serious jock and really only cares about sports, sex, and partying (which until now he had to limit because of the school's rules on drugs, alcohol, and smoking.)
  • He isn't above using what he has and what others want to get what he wants from them. Specifically this means his parents' grocery, which he will guard to ensure it isn't looted.
  • He is very much heterosexual, though, he is not a homophobe in the least.

  • His parents, Howard and Vivian vanished.

Pre-RP History:
  • He grew up in Bailey Ridge.
  • He was a 19 year old going into his Senior year at BRHs. He'd gotten a serious internal infection his 4th grade year. Missing months of school and not taking his home schooling seriously, he'd was set back a year, making him one year older, bigger, and stronger than his fellow classmates when he returned to school.
  • He has always been popular.
  • He has always been a jock, playing on the football, wrestling, and track & field teams, more often than not on the Varsity squads and almost always first string.
  • While he's no idiot, he only made a B-average in school because it was mandatory for playing Varsity sports.

Role Play History:
  • November 1, 2020 (Day 1): After the meeting at the gym with the Remainders, he assembled his team mates, armed themselves as the Bailey Ridge Guard, and set up Guard Posts at a variety of business. (See Post #5)

1st
  • 1:14am: the majority of the 3,000 men, women, and children of the rurally located town of Bailey Ridge simply vanished. (Post #1)
  • Only 325 residents remained, all from age 13-23.
  • Chrissy Brown, 18, was raped. (Post #1 and #3.)
  • Winston Weston, 22, the residential Sheriff Deputy, would soon realize the mayhem:
    • Thousands missing.
    • The 9-1-1 system and all cell service down.
    • Electrical power coming from the town-owned emergency power generator only and serving only a couple of handfuls of locations.
  • The Remainders met in the high school gym at noon.
  • They began organizing with the assistance of Maggie O'Connor.
  • Royce Evans, 19, took the initiative as he saw fit (Post #5.):
    • As BMOC at Bailey Ridge High School and multi-season captain of the Football, wrestling, and track & field teams, he organized his varsity players into the Varsity Guard.
    • He armed them from the local Guns & More.
    • He stationed them at makeshift Guard Posts at the grocery, hardware, clinic, and gun store.
    • Deputy Winston Weston negotiated with Royce: the latter could guard the first two locations with fewer firearms but had to give control of the latter two to people Winston would deputize. (Post #7 and #8.)
 

Story:
  • The Vanishings occurred at 1:14am on November 1, 2020.
  • Most of the 3,000 residents of Bailey Ridge disappeared in an instant.
  • 325 people were left behind, all between the ages of 13 and 23.
  • NOTE: Characters <18: no sexual or romantic role play

Electrical power -- from the town owned emergency generator powering:
  • City Hall, which includes the Sheriff Department Substation.
  • Medical Clinic, which includes the pharmacy.
  • "Billy's" (a grocery store).
  • "Nelson's Mercantile" (a hardware, feed & seed, and lumber store).
  • "Guns & More" (firearms, camping gear, etc.).
  • 3 more that I am yet to identify.
  • Town's street lamps and signal lights (whoopee, 1 stop light).
  • Water pumping station and the sewage plant.

Other utilities:
  • Cell service: none currently, but a cell tower in town could possibly be adjusted to work if someone could figure that out.
  • Internet: none. Temporarily or forever? Who can know.
  • Water: operating.
  • Sewer: operating.
 
Selena Sanchez, 19 -- Non-resident squatter

  • She parties, mostly to gain access to people's things.

  • Her parents were crack heads.
  • They died when she was young, but we don't yet have the details.
  • She went into foster care, bouncing from one abusive home to another.

Current Situation:
  • While hitchhiking, she came to the Bailey Ridge home of the guy who picked her up and spend the night with him. He vanished.
  • She has taken up residence in his house.
 
Jake Darrett, 18 -- High School Senior

Further Physical Description: 6 foot, 2 inches, ruggedly handsome, long brown hair, green eyes, well muscled build; fit and healthy, typically wears a leather jacket .

Personality:
  • He is distrustful of other people, unless they show him they are trustworthy.
  • He is a bit of an outsider, due to his brother's bad reputation in town.
  • He is a scrapper, not one to back down from a fight.
  • He is heterosexual. He didn't have a "girlfriend", per se, but he was having a fairly regular sexual relationship with an older woman (she was 28, and married), that started shortly after he moved to Bailey's Ridge...she has since disappeared.

Family:
  • He lives with his older brother Jaime (who is 21), in a trailer on the edge of town.
  • His mom ran off when he was 5, and his dad died of cancer about a year before the current events.
  • He has no other family.

History:
  • He moved to Bailey's Ridge, after his dad died.
  • At his previous school, he played football, but lost interest after the death of his dad. (No one knows this but his brother.)
  • His brother has been in and out of trouble with the law in Bailey's Ridge...drunk and disorderly, starting bar fights, etc...and is suspected of selling marijuana to high school students (which is true).
  • Jake was new to the school, and ran into some trouble with the jocks when he first started school.
  • He got in a fight with one of the jocks, and broke the potential ]]pbully's jaw. Now, they mostly leave him alone.
  • He had been doing some work part time at the garage in town, fixing cars and motorcycles.
  • He really hasn't made any friends yet in school or in town.

I don't generally like to post "conversation" replies in the OOC as they tend to begin "chat" that doesn't really belong here. Please, if you have a question, comment, complaint, or bitch, PM it to me and/or the writer for whom it is intended.

The reason for this reply is:
  • To introduce a new writer, Wyld52771. Welcome, and please have fun.
  • To inform you that I made some significant alterations to the "List of Characters". I am attempting to keep it tight and easy to use, thus I have deleted a lot of the "Followers", "Respect", and "Loyalty" stuff. The concept behind those 3 items is to show how specific main characters would fair (or is it fare?) amongst the other Remainders if there was to be social upheaval or conflict in Bailey Ridge. But since this isn't a MMORPG and is more just an unfolding story, I think that is all a bit too dramatic and organized. The story is the story first.
  • And to remind all of the writers (and that includes me of course) that they should be very careful about dropping explosive twists without first clearing it with the host. A total explanation isn't required; I like surprises as much as the next guy/girl. But to ensure that you do not ruin another writer's story line, you should always check first. The saying It's easier to ask forgiveness afterward than it is to ask permission up front doesn't work here.
