Thoughts as I try to sleep for the third time today
One happens in public.
We see each other from a distance,
Knowing what we do.
I walk over slowly,
Taking my time to let you read my face and body
Like I know you will.
I will come up to stand in front of you,
And as you look down at me
We can’t help but smile.
I will reach out
And hold the pinkie finger on your right hand
With the whole fist of my left
And we will walk
Together.
One happens in private.
We sit in your living room or mine
And we just look at each other.
You study every line of my body
As though you haven’t seen it before
Before coming over
And sitting next to me
So that all I can think about
Is how close we are
And how much I wish
The fabric from your jeans and mine
Would disappear
And allow us to be one
Together.

The necklace I have had for years as just an item in my jewelry box, but now it reminds me of someone who loves trees (and me), so I feel like wearing it more.
The sweater is straight from the 80s, as most of my sweaters are. I find the aesthetic of large, baggy clothing as pleasing as tight fitting.

I just have too many clothes...
