Place in story:
  • Waitress at the Chester's Mill Cafe.
  • Semi-professional prostitute (further explained below)
  • Carl River's lover (before he got caught outside the dome while she was inside).

Description:

Personality:
  • At the café, she is outgoing and friendly.
  • Away from work, she is introverted and reserved, except around friends (of which she has few), family (of whom she is estranged), and Johns (of which she has about a dozen regulars).
  • In bed, she is very much worth what she makes.
  • Bisexual, though most of her lovers/patrons are men.
  • Intelligence and sharp.
  • Alone and lonely: she has no family in Chester's Mill (parents both dead; sibling moved away; only relatives left in The Mill are estranged from her at the beginning of the story.)

History:
  • She grew up in Chester's Mill, the fourth of 5 children.
  • Shortly after two of her older siblings left for college, her father was killed in a suspicious car crash and her mother died of an opioid overdose.
  • She was 16. She quit school and moved in with a boyfriend who was sometimes emotionally, verbally, and/or physically abusive. Her younger siblings moved away to live with her very religious grandparents, who shunned her for her sinful ways
  • She began taking money and other things of value for sex at the encouragement of her boyfriend.
  • At 17, after the boyfriend was found stabbed to death (for which she was investigated but not charged) Julie quickly moved in with one of her regular Johns, who ironically was a Deacon at the Chester's Mill Anglican Church.
  • He forbade her from prostitution, though she continued to do all sorts of nasty, erotic things for him.
  • She went to work at the café.
  • At age 20, they and some church members went to South America to build a church and school. It was there that she contracted an insect-borne virus that plagues her to this day.
  • The cost of her treatments was high. Alice was casted aside by her boyfriend who didn't want to be responsible for the cost. She was negotiating help from her Church when her now Ex-boyfriend (not wanting to see her his place of worship) divulged her criminal and ethical past. She was casted aside by them as well.
  • Unable to support herself and her legal drug habit, Julie began turning tricks again, both in Chester's Mill and in neighboring towns and cities.
  • She began servicing Carl Rivers weekly, despite his being married. (He was caught outside the dome the day it fell, the day after he found out that his wife was expecting their first child).
 
Nicole "Nikki" Carlton

Place in story:
  • Sheriffs Deputy, Chester's Mill Sub-station.
  • At the beginning of the story, she is the senior most of just 2 Law Enforcement officials inside the dome.
  • Martin Breeze's former lover.

Description:

Personality:
  • Strong, confident, dominant, even aggressive.
  • Sexually dominant and aggressive as well; in bed, she is takes control initially, then after she gets hers becomes more submissive to her partner.
  • Considers herself heterosexual, though she had on occasion been with other women, more often than not in threesomes.
  • Intelligence and sharp.
  • Entirely dedicated to the safety and security of Chester's Mill.

History:
  • She was the youngest of 6 children, 4 of whom were boys who picked on her.
  • She grew up tough and confident in her ability to kick anyone's ass.
  • She got an AA in Criminal Justice as a prerequisite to join the County Sheriffs Department.
  • Has been a Deputy in Chester's Mill since age 21.
  • Was tortured by PTSD nightmares for a while after shooting a 13 year old who was first shooting at her.
  • She fights through it every day by being tough on crime and criminals. The harder she acts during the day, the less she suffers via nightmares at night.
  • She had a year long affair with Martin Breeze who (despite being a convict with pending charges) helped her and the Department take down an opioid distribution network.
  • It turned out poorly. Reasons pending.
  • When it came down, she was the most senior of only 2 Deputies inside the dome.

Leann "Mama" Prittle

Place in story:
  • Owner-Operator-Matriarch of the Prittle Family Farm.
  • Greedy resource hoarder and manipulator of situations.
  • Mother of 4 sons and 2 daughters; grandmother of 18 (8 of whom are 10-17 years of age and expected to work on the farm).

Description:
  • 60 years old.
  • Looks like a gramma.

Personality:
  • Strong, confident, dominant, aggressive.
  • Intelligence and sharp.
  • Entirely dedicated to the safety and security of her family and property.

History:
  • She was the 6th of 8 children.
  • She quit school after 6th grade to work on the farm.
  • Over the years, she lost 5 of her 7 siblings to one thing or another. (I may explain this or may not.)
  • She was married twice and had 3 children with each man before they died young.
  • After her parents both died relatively young, she took over the farm.
  • She had continuing issues with the people and city of Chester's Mill:
    • She had land confiscated via imminent domain.
    • She lost a major lawsuit regarding chemical disposal and had to see off 120 acres to settle with the City.
    • She was tried but not convicted of killing her first husband, who was from one of Chester's Mill's well respected families. (She actually did kill him, but she was not convicted). Her defense costed her a fortune, and many of the townsfolk came to despise her.
    • And finally, a rash of new zoning laws, environmental regulations, and agricultural tariffs enacted over the past 30 years led to the farm having to radically change what they were growing while earning less. The farm has consistently made less money each year for decades. Mama blamed this on the townsfolk and city council of Chester's Mill. Of course, most of these new laws, regulations, and tariffs came from the County, State, or Federal government.
  • Essentially, Mama Prittle has been looking for a way to stick it to the people of Chester's Mill for most of her life.
 
People, Places, & Things
To Remember​

The Dome:
  • Although no one knows it yet, the Dome is actually a sphere.
  • It is 10 miles in diameter.
  • Its central point is 110 yards under the floor of a forest, 2 miles outside of town.
  • Because the central point is below the surface of the ground, the dome's tallest point is just less than 5 miles high.
  • The dome is transparent, sound won't pass through it, and nothing can destroy or damage it.

Chester's Mill:
  • The center of our story.
  • Population before the dome: 1,444
  • Population inside the dome: 510
    • The dome appeared the morning of the finals of the High School Baseball Championship.
    • Chester's Mill was in the finals for the first time in the school's history.
    • Almost 2/3s of the population loaded up shortly after dawn and headed in a miles long caravan for the County Seat to cheer on their team.
  • Because Chester's Mill is 12 miles away from the nearest next town, it is the only community trapped within it.

Kyle Washington

Place in story:
  • Prior to the dome, he was a stock boy at the City Market.
  • After the dome, he closed and secured the market to protect it from looting.

Personality:
  • Quiet, soft spoken.
  • Smart, intelligence.
  • Hard working; loyal to his employers, who were also his foster parents and with whom he still lives.
  • Athletic; soccer player.
  • Virgin.

History:
  • He was born and initially raised in Minneapolis.
  • His parents were addicts and lost custody of him when he was 8.
  • He went into foster care and, at 11, was permanently adopted by the owners of the City Market.
  • He grew up happy and healthy in Chester's Mill after that, working afternoons and weekends.
  • He got a full ride scholarship for University next year.
  • He was the only person working at the market the day the dome appeared. He closed and secured the market to protect it from looting.
 
Parker Lee

Place in story:
  • Farmer.

Description:
  • Image
  • 34 years old.
  • 6'4"; muscular; very fit.
  • Brunette hair, cut short and close.
  • Deep brown eyes.

Personality:
  • Soft spoken but not shy.
  • Dedicated to his community and family.
  • Loyal to his lovers, of which he didn't have any at the time the dome came down.
  • Hard working.

Pre-dome History:
  • Grew up 1 of just 2 sons of a third generation farmer.
  • His brother moved away right out of high school; he never wanted to be a farmer.
  • His mother died of cancer and his father of an accident.
  • At just 24, he found himself sole owner/operator of a 400 acre farm that grew mostly grain crops but also had hazelnut orchards.

Post-dome history:
  • He was out in a field working when the dome fell.
  • Nothing special to tell yet.
 
Marta Jackson

Place in story:
  • A refugee of sorts; she is not from Chester's Mill.
  • She has befriended Kyle Washington and is helping him with the City Market.

Description:
  • 19 years old.
  • Image

  • Long, straight, brunette hair.
  • Deep brown eyes.

Personality:
  • Strong, confident.
  • Her first concern has always herself because no one else has ever looked out for her.
  • A bit slutty when necessary to get what she needs.

History:
  • She was the youngest of 3 girls.
  • She was an accident; there were 16 years between her and her mother's last intended child.
  • She was a partier throughout her high school years.
  • After graduating, she left home to live with a series of friends, boyfriends, and short term lovers (both male and female).
  • The night before the dome fell, she got a ride toward home from two frat boys. She fucked them one after another in the back seat of their car. When they reached Chester's Mill, though, she ran off and disappeared into the night with their dope.
  • The next day, after the dome fell, she was in the City Market when the mayhem began. She hid and, later, worked with the store's current operator, Kyle Washington, to secure the establishment.

Patrick James

Place in story:
  • Sole City Council member left inside dome.
  • Essentially the Mayor until an election or event deems otherwise.
  • Horse breeder.
  • Self serving man with money and power.

Description:
  • Image
  • 56 years old.
  • 6'0"; thin, fit; a comfortable layer of I have money to eat well fat.
  • See pic for more.

Personality:
  • In the words of Nikki Carlton, "self important, self serving, self indulgent shit". That's pretty accurate.
  • Misogynist. Women only have two purposes: please him; produce him male heirs who will take care of him when he's old. (See below for more on both.)
  • Hard working and dedicated to making his little empire more powerful and more valuable.
  • He is not a violent man himself, but he is not afraid to use violence to achieve his aims.

Pre-dome History:
  • Came from wealth.
  • He is a third generation horse breeder.
  • Through shrewd investing and a healthy share of cheating, he has tripled the value of the estate he inherited from his father when he was in his 40s.
  • He had a wife who died of natural causes. She birthed him 2 sons and a daughter.
  • He had a mistress who birthed him a son and daughter as well.
  • The current Mrs. James is a trophy wife. (I won't describe her as I am hoping to find a female to write her).
  • His current mistress (caution before opening; erotic image) is a stripper from the County Seat who got caught inside the dome. (Same note about needing a writer.)

Post-dome history:
  • He is the only elected Council Member inside the dome.
  • Without actually speaking the words "I am in charge", he essentially took charge within 8 hours of the dome's arrival.
  • He deputized and foisted onto the presumed Sheriff, Deputy Nikki Carlton, 3 men who both of them know are each criminals to one degree or another. We do not know yet what his plan for these three men is.
 
Hanna Ridgemont

Place in story:
  • Exotic dancer and sometimes prostitute.
  • Illegitimate daughter of Patrick James.
  • Incestuous lover of Patrick James as well. (She knows he is her father, but does he know she is his daughter? We haven't decided this yet. You'll read about it in the main thread and in "Patrick's Girls", an off shoot of the main thread.

Description:
  • Image (topless)
  • 23 years old.
  • 5'4", 120#, 34D-25-34
  • Slightly wavy, brunette hair just beyond her shoulders.
  • Deep green eyes.

Personality:
  • Strong willed; determined to survive.
  • Occasionally suffers from some self doubt and self destructive behavior that stems from being an illegitimate child.
  • Personally, she is a lesbian and has a long time girlfriend; professionally, she does anyone who pays.

History before the dome fell:
  • She grew up the only child of a single mother, Kimmie, in Hanover Falls, the County Seat, about 12 miles from Chester's Mill.
  • Her mother had received monthly support payments from a blind trust since Hanna's birth, on the condition that Kimmie never tell anyone (most notably Hanna) who her daughter's father was.
  • It wasn't until Kimmie was diagnosed with cancer and feared she would die without revealing the truth before she told Hanna the name of her father: Patrick James.
  • Kimmie forced Patrick to pay for her treatments or have Hanna and the world learn the truth. (In reality, Kimmie had told Hanna but then swore her to secrecy to keep the money coming in.)
  • When Hanna was just 16, she began using a fake ID to strip. She was soon turning tricks as well.
  • She kept the secret.
  • But then one day, Patrick James showed up at Dalliances men club, wanting Hanna to dance for him. Does he know she's his daughter? You'll have to follow along with "Patrick's Girls" to find out.
 
Marcus Drewer

Place in story:
  • Teacher, Math and Science; Chester's Mill High School.
  • Participant in helping the town through the crises to come.

Description:
  • Image
  • 34 years old.
  • 5'8", nice build.

Personality:
  • Intelligent; innovative; quick learner.
  • Dedicated to the community.
  • Heterosexual; yearning of new adventures; attracted to younger women.

History before the dome fell:
  • Not much established yet.
  • Two weeks before the dome, he took a substitute math and sciences teaching position at the Chester Mill's high school, filling in for a teacher out on maternity leave.
  • He knew he would be here for at least 6 months, so he rented an apartment over the garage belonging to another teacher.

History after the dome fell:
  • He took measurements of the dome and determined it to be at least 9 miles in diameter. (In reality, it's closer to 10, but no one knows that yet.)
  • He was seduced by a student, Holly Stevens, who he fucked on his school room desk.
