"They Call Us Gypsies"

Our story:

The year is 1922; the place is west-central Oklahoma.
Prohibition is in effect; the Great Depression is yet to occur.
A Family of Romani -- gypsies -- arrive in (fictional) Clark County, a land of rolling hills and scattered small towns.
They find a place to set up their camp, to shake off the dust of the road, and to do a little business.

Romani:

Gregor (Gregorogosivic) Murtorovanni
Inga Murtorovanni
Papa Don (Donielle Petrescu): Inga's grandfather and Patriarch (leader) of the Family.
Constantin Vidraru: Gregor's great-grandfather; Papa Don's oldest and dearest friend.
Marla (no last name yet): prostitute, exotic dancer, pick pocket, confidence artist; Romani orphan, taken in by this Family at age 6.
Stella: 6 year old girl who picked Jake and Grace's flowers early in the RP and since has come to really like Miss Gracie.
Gerta: ~24 years of age; prostitute, dancer, pick pocket, all around thief, jewelry maker.
Yalla: ~45 years of age; herbalist, healer, snake oil mixer (with her husband Petra pushing the product at the carvavales).

The Townsends:

Jason: farmer/rancher; owner of land where the Romani set up their camp at the story's beginning; Inga's lover and (sort of) fiancée.
Jacob (Jake): District Judge (Clark County, Oklahoma); Jason's brother; married to Grace (Evans) Townsend. (Image).
Grace: Jake's (now estranged) wife; Gregor's love interest.

Elizabeth (Gunner) Evans: (deceased prior to RP's beginning); Walter's first wife; Grace's mother; German immigrant; died during labor delivering her 2nd child, a boy who also died. (For more, see Post #138)

- Barlow Barker: Clark County Sheriff; not a friend of Jake, despite their career connection, but a profession law officer all the same.
- Christian Parker: Clark County Sheriff Deputy; sort of a scared bully; likes being a cop so he can wear a gun and push people around.

Gregor (Gregorogosovic Murtorovanni)

Place in the story:

Romani (gypsy).
Boxer, gambler, thief, and all around con artist.
Gigolo.

Physical Description:

Image
6'2", slim with a muscular build.
Dark wavy brunette hair, thick on top but general kept above his collar.
Deep, dark brown eyes.
Dark, nearly flawless skin. (He has scars, listed below.)
Beard; trimmed neat for aesthetic purposes. (Gotta keep that face pretty.)
Earrings. (They change at times, as the story will tell.)
Prefers pants that show off his muscular ass and shirts that show off his equally muscular and slightly furry chest.
Scars:
- Above left eye brow, under right eye; each is from bare knuckle fighting and each is only noticeable up close.
- Two along left jaw line; also from fighting, also noticeable only up close, and each is mostly hidden by his beard.
- Knife wound: left belly, from an attack.
- Bullet wound: right thigh, from a lawman.

Personality:

Confident, bold, courageous.
Dedicated and loyal to the Family.
A ladies man: flirtatious, promiscuous, quick to get it on, always eager to satisfy and capable of doing so.
Ironically, most of his sleeping around is tied directly or indirectly to earning coin for the Family. His escapades are typically meant to distract the women for one reason or another.
He's never been in love. He probably wouldn't recognize it is he saw it.

History:

Born Spring of 1895. (He is 27 at the story's start.)
His mother died of a fever when he was 4; his father died of wounds received during a beating when he was 8.
His paternal grandmother and grandfather raised him until they both died of natural causes; at the times of their deaths, he was 14 and 22 respectively.
Although he is related by blood to most of the Family members and by marriage to most of the rest, his maternal grandmother's father -- Gregor's great-grandfather, Constantin "Connie" Vidraru -- is his closest family member. Connie lives and travels in the same vardo with Gregor.
Gregor learned from a very young age to steal and fight.
For the years of his youth and still today, that was how he contributed to the Family's income.
Then, he learned how to attract and please women, and from an age considered far too young by contemporary American standards, this was also added to his list of income earning talents.
Over the years, he has had many scrapes and scuffles with the men associated to the women he'd bedded, be they husbands, fathers, wanna-be-lovers, or simply concerned citizens who don't like gypsy males fucking their women.

Marla

Place in the story:

Romani, though not originally of this Family.
Was orphaned at age 6 and taken in by the Family.
Exotic dancer, prostitute, pick pocket, and all around skilled thief.

Physical Description:

Image at her vardo.
5'9", 36C-26-38; very leggy.
Hazel green eyes.
Bleaches her dark brunette hair blonde; wears it down past her shoulders.
Shaves her pubic region with a straight edge razor.
Earrings. (The arrangement changes but always include a diamond stud, explained below.)
Often seen in long, thin-clothed dresses that show off her legs; other times she's seen in less than that.

Personality:

Confident and bold, but also suffering from an inferiority complex (as explained further below).
Quiet generally. She does her work and chores, then spends time alone.
Dedicated and loyal to the Family; would do anything Gregor asks of her (as also explained further below).
Flirtatious, promiscuous; she is an exotic dancer and prostitute, after all.
Was in love once, with Gregor (again, explained below).

History:

Born winter of 1900 within a separate Romani Family. (She is 22 at the story's start.)
When her parents died and no one in her current Family wanted to care for her, Gregor's grandparents -- caring for Gregor after his own parents' deaths -- traded a pair of milk goats for her.
She wasn't treated poorly growing up, but then again she wasn't treated as kindly as a true blood Family member. Some of the other kids called her Goat Girl after her trading price got out. But Gregor, who had a reputation for protecting those younger and smaller than he, put an end to that by breaking one of the bully's nose and another one's arm.
Marla became infatuated with Gregor, who was 5 years her senior. When it came time to lose her virginity, she gave it to him despite his not asking to be her first.
She fell in love with Gregor and hoped that they would be mated and married. She opened her thighs -- and her mouth -- to him on several occasions, but soon realized that he wasn't interested in a marriage with a member of the Family.
The last time they fucked -- she knew it was the last because he told her they had to quit -- she stole from him a diamond stud earring a satisfied customer had given him. Despite Gregor's insistence, Marla refused to give it up, and after taking it back only to lose it to her again -- four times -- Gregor simply stopped trying and let her keep it.
She tried to forget about Gregor, becoming a seductress, distracting (mostly) men while others picked their pockets or cheated them in their poker games and other such things; then she became an exotic dancer; and finally a prostitute, parting her legs for men who paid her more coin that she'd ever yet seen, while her thoughts were always on her one true love, Gregor.
