Considering that we currently live in the most technologically advanced, wealthiest, longest living, best educated human civilization with the highest standards of living that has EVER existed so far as we know (western civilization at large).....I don't think they've done to bad. Also there has been nothing stopping women from doing just that for some time now. Plenty of proof all around even in the most redneck of states.

Notice in the realm of TV drama most police departments are run by superior women who out manage, out think, and solve crimes with intellectual concepts their inferior male employees are simply incapable of.
Notice as well how they are casts in every SWAT situation as the equal of men when it comes down to dynamic entry and taking down 240-pound bad guys with a swift and brutal efficiency that leaves her male counterparts fearfully glancing back and forth among themselves in begrudging respect.
Notice how many times these days women are cast kicking men in the balls with impunity.
There is a program out now that claims to be the most elite Special OPs team on earth, but it has female members (so how can it be the best) there are no women on earth that are better than 99% of all men in this field, as Spec Op men themselves usually are. It's all leftwing policy fantasy designed to send a message to our male children and to society at large about what they have in store for men if they ever gain the leadership of society's institutions.

The most "powerful" woman I've ever known (whom, during her long heyday, was referred to as, among other, even more delicious things, "the most photographed woman in the world") hardly had enough actual confidence in herself to succeed on her own (without the accolades and the efforts of others, she was naturally very wanting).
I've known just a very, very few, true "powerful" men in my life: men who are natively honest, completely upfront, and figuratively moved mountains all by themselves when whatever obstacles stood before them couldn't be dealt with any other way. And then considered their historic accomplishments as just another day of life.
I suspect true power is very rare in our species in general.

Actually, I'm going to answer that question properly. As a woman whose recently moved into a role in my workplace that comes with a bit (just a bit) of power ... mostly I want everyone else to get on and do their jobs properly, and the best possible outcome for the people our institution serves. (I don't think that's gendered though? I'm not even really sure why the question is gendered - people with power can equally crap or great regardless of their genitals.)
