Get Well StarryNightin64

Not sure yet. It's 3 minutes away, in a garage apartment set up like this, 1 bed room. I know the family and they know me. Her mom lived there for 15 years and just died last week. They need time to sort and clean then repair. Their time line is like mine. It comes with her mom's live inside kitty named Dixie which is cool. They want someone long term and no issues. They'd like me but I can only afford $600 a month which is half my income but $200 less then they could get with just opening it up to other people. So she called me and I've not seen it yet but even if it's a step up from here it's worth it. I'd be with people who I know but are not my close friends. I'd be safe and this couple works on the CERT team (citizen emergency response team).

I still would have to try the crowd funding to get deposits and once I'm in there I need to find a very part time job to have more then $200 for food all month.

I hope you get it and it works for you. You need something really positive

You bring more to the table as a tenant than the extra money could be worth to them. You are stable and not destructive. Both very big pluses from a landlord standpoint.

Thanks!!! It's sure nice to be thought of as a positive for a change right now. I'm still gonna have to figure out the food income issue. And here locally until I get moved in we are keeping it quiet cause there will be haters throwing a fit over them moving me in there. Not anyone's business but there will be comments made by nosey busy bodies.

I hope you get the place, and it's only part of things picking up for you.

Thank you! I got blessed and honored today to drive / escort a Nam Marine whose on Hospice care. He was shocked a team member paid for lunch today. And when I realized how big a deal getting a simple cheese burger out was, I made sure to stop for an early dinner at Cracker Barrel so he'd have lots of left overs to take home.

UPDATES -

The new Physical Therapist is THE BEST one I've ever worked with. I've never hurt so much for doing such little kinds of exercises. Old School PTs just kept putting high weights on me and building up muscles where I didn't need to worry about it. This lady is building up the small muscles that help hold my shoulders in place. We are using a mix of old school PT, knowledge of the muscles & how my joints hyper flex and the newest things like the Kinesiology tape. AND IT'S WORKING!!!

Just found a back up on a place to live if things fall through on the place here locally. The place locally is about 3 minutes away by car. The back up place about 15 - 20 minutes with traffic. So that's a relief.

The packing is going slow. with no AC it gets to be around 90 - 100 degrees in here by 10:30 am. Just had one of my nurse team members bring her husband over to pull down things too high for me to reach any more & pull out stuff too heavy for me to lift. So now I am back to sorting, dumping, recycling, donating and packing again now that my first Fall Honor Flight mission is done.

Just finished setting up a crowd funding account to help raise deposits and moving expenses. It is thru a place called PlumFund which is designed for small goals to help raise money and it's free with a great consumer rating. Anything left from the deposits and moving expenses will go toward money for food down the line. This new place will costs me about $250 a month extra so I'll be back to needing gas money to drive veterans and living on about $150 a month for food.

I know it's seemed to be going slow but I've had so very little help. There was one "friend" who considers herself a picker wanted to get her hands on my stuff to sell & help me. Not going to happen. Anyone else whose offered just give me a yell for help has pretty much disappeared. So I'm keeping on task and trying not to get hurt moving anything.

So all in all some positive progress :rose:

UPDATE ~

I see the ortho on Tuesday so we can find out what can be done about the tear in the Biceps muscle that still hurts so dang bad. The more I try to do the worse it hurts. The PT is still amazing & with the taping the rest of my back and shoulders are shifting where they belong. That part is kicking my butt some cause I can't always find a comfortable way to sleep & the muscle spasms are still nasty some times but the Canna caps (CBD oil) helps.

The sorting and packing is going slow since it's just me. I've had a couple friends stop by to move stuff down or out where I can reach them. With the nasty heat in here (well over 90 degrees most days & some over 100) no one has offered to help other then the one so called friend I blocked because she wanted in here to grab stuff to sell. She's done that with some of her patients & they have never seen their items or the money since. So I will stay hydrated, go slow and steady and get there later then sooner.

I have a back up place to move in case the place here falls thru and a plan C if that happens to fall thru too.

I've learned Humana's case managers for Medicare are a joke. Enough of a joke I turned them into Humana on a corporate level. Age discrimination (I am too young & healthy a waste of their time) and fraud (apparently there are no Social workers at Humana but someone called me from there saying they were a social worker ) is what I got from them. The new case manager they finally gave me could only help with busy work for her based on out dated suggestions for mainly home bound older seniors. So my new body parts make me a special needs patient but they can't help me since they don't have anyone trained or protocols for younger patients.

Sadly I even knew more about what programs are out there to help (in the US www.211.org), how Medicare bills & restricts patients (I had to have no home health care post surgery (for showers, groceries & help) so I could have out patient PT), AND apparently I know more about what a Social Worker can do then these people. The last 2 surgeries we've had to make sure the Home Healthcare case manager nurses didn't turn in the landlords for the health & code violations or I'd have been removed & my stuff boxed up by other people then God only knows where they'd have put me. Possibly a nursing home till I recovered then where after that no freakin clue.

But it's October & I hope the cooler air gets here soon. I'm over the half way point sorted & packed and the PlumFund is set up to help collect some money to be able to move. I'm not counting on anyone showing up to physically help so I will have to hire someone. I had to add pictures which was hard since I am usually the one at support events taking the pictures. But if you want to see what I look like here's the link. They rotate the pictures. I'm the one with the long dark hair. http://www.plumfund.com/financial-hardship/shellys-moving-fund

Anyway Thank You to my Lit family for being here letting me whine, vent, cry & not making fun or hurting me during this worst year yet. :rose: It's very true Lit friends are the BEST friends and have been for 10 years now.

<sigh> saw my ortho today.... more PT.
I avoided the nasty steroid shot he wanted to do and took in a not legal canna cap so they could see what it looks like. They have a patient wanting to try the medical cannabis but they didn't know where to send her. So they are having her call me and I'll share the links on Amazon on CDB oil for her to try. That's legal so she can order some to try.

They are impressed with my new PT and the ortho nurse is calling them tomorrow to say Hi. Doc thinks other then I'm really stiff and sore from pushing the line with my shoulder I'm where I should be. And if we need to I can always call them for that shot... But knows what I'd prefer.

<sigh> The PT is sending me back to the ortho early. What we are doing that is working is REALLY working. The part that isn't working or improving is the tear in the bicep they didn't fix. That whole it will scar & you can use it thing really isn't happening. Right now they are all afraid I'll go grab another 18 pound turkey to deliver for Thanksgiving & snap the whole thing.

I got to see the new garage apartment. It's the same size as here (footage) but how it is laid out it's smaller in some areas & much larger in others. Here I work in the living room & have storage in the bed room. There the living room, dining room & kitchen are all in one area making them smaller then here... but the bedroom is huge compared to this place. So I will most likely work in the bedroom now. There is a walk in closet & a real dresser (I've never had those things ever)... they are also leaving me a large screen TV, (never had one of those before either) giving me cable & net too. So that savings will go as budget money towards food.

I'm really nervous cause this is closer to living like normal people do then I have in over 25 years.  There is AC, Heat, real windows that close too. they think I'll be able to move in by Dec 1st.

The only thing I'd change out is that the bathroom access is on the far side of the apartment from the bedroom. Which means 2 am walks in the dark. I'll see if I can put a motion light or night light somewhere so I don't walk on the cat.

sounds like your new place is going to work just fine for you. I am glad you were able to find it. Sorry the tear is not doing better though. Anything else that can be done to heal it?

No clue. I see the ortho team on Tuesday and will see what they say. It's not like they can throw me back in the sling cause they don't want to freeze my shoulder. Right now on both sides of the biceps area I have pretty big speed bumps that are either scary tissue or the torn muscle and its not breaking down its getting harder and knotted.

I moved my babies (my 24 year old full size Jack Daniels barrel & bootleggers chest) over to my friend's bike shop today. It will go in her office or the show room as show pieces. I'm gonna miss them but the new place is smaller in some ways & I'll have no room for them.

I just got the call... Things are behind but they said I can move in Dec 5th. I can start boxes in on the Sunday the 4th but the big stuff on that Monday. I'm nervous and stressed.

I'm so thankful for each of the friends who helped me get thru what has seriously been one of the most stressful, nasty years I've ever had. (I'm down 40 pounds and most my long braid) It takes a team and each of them has been there in some way. From feeding me/ shared leftovers , checking on me, sending me cards, funding projects or me, PMs, calls, texts or were here physically.

They ve helped me thru the shoulder tear, changing insurances, surgery, PT, getting food in, trash out, showers, braiding my hair to keep it out of the way. Helped handle the stress of the crapy neighbor up front, no AC, the almost finished move with dumping, sorting, gifting half my life. To pack and move after 25 years here has been horrible.

The move is on for Dec 4 & 5. Losing a few close friends this year hit VERY hard, one especially too hard. I may get quiet just sharing out other posts, but one of them will always pop up to check on me. NEVER think I'm not grateful for any of their help in my life.

Thanks Sweetie! The new place is going to be a big step up & with people who will care if I am alive & ok compared to the landlords / slumlords I have now. I'm just nervous & tired & pretty worn out by this whole year.
