Good Things To Know​

Role Play Starting Date: March 2040

Primary Location of the Role Play: Little Island, Washington. (To be further described when I have the time. For now, see the first post of the IC thread.)

Calendar:

• 2018: The Doomwar occurs. Very little information is known about the war:
  • Bio-weapons, followed by nuclear weapons resulted in the eventual deaths of 95% of America's population.
  • Seattle (WA), Spokane (WA), Boise (ID), and Portland (OR) are known to have been nuked. Beyond that, our characters know nothing factual about the US beyond a distance of about 300 miles from Little Island.
• 2022: Little Island was established. (As I said, see below).
• 2033: The Postman comes onto the scene. (If you know the movie, you know the history here.)
• 2034: The Postman takes command of and then disbands the Holnist army.
• 2038: The USPS begins servicing the small community of Little Island, which is located somewhere in the triangle of wilderness bordered by the former State of Oregon to the south, the Grande Ronde river to the Northwest, and the Snake River (and former state of Idaho) to the northeast. (Google map link, should you be inclined to look.)
• March 2040:
  • Luke comes to Little Island to establish a USPS Regional Distribution Center (which sounds major and official but is little more than a post office intended to service more communities at greater distances than most).
  • Luke recruits Alex as a postal carrier.

Characters:

• Frank Howard
  • 39 years old.
  • Retired young:
    • Computer hardware designer.
    • Sold what he called a "little do-kickey that is now in about ninety percent of the smart phones on the planet" for $10 million.
  • Now he volunteers:
    • Middle School computer lab: Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    • Salvations Army food kitchen: Wednesdays and Sundays.
  • Collects sand-worn debris. He displays some of it around his house and yard simply for the aesthetic value; and he either uses the rest or donates the rest to be used in unique art
  • Black Labrador puppy (six months old) named Skipper.
  • Cliff side home:
• Mila
  • 19 years old.
