OOC -- "The Silo"

Recruiting Players

Looking for:
• 1 or 2 males and 1 or 2 females.
• Writers are welcome to write more than one character.

Posting to the story:
• IMPORTANT -- Do NOT post new information about the Greeve without clearing it with me. I have a vision for the aliens and some twists for future use, and if you post something contradictory to that, you fuck it up. Thank you.
• This is both "group" and "1x1" role play.
• I wish I could say I came up with this concept on my own, but I am borrowing from role plays in which I am/have been a writer.
• I will begin a central thread with the information everyone needs.
• Writers can introduce their characters there and, if appropriate, role play.
• Then, when two writers wish to involve their respective characters in an exchange of replies:
• They can begin a 1x1 in which they and only they write.
• They can link it to the central thread so that everyone knows about it.
• These 1x1s are easier to write because it is only you and your partner.
• These 1x1s are easier to read because you don't have replies from several characters in several locations and sometimes in different time lines playing leap frog.
• Another beauty is that a writer can be writing one single character in more than one 1x1 that take place at different points in the time line.
• There is no need to wait for the time line to catch up to where you want to write the 1x1.
• You and your writing partner can actually be writing a 1x1 that doesn't begin for ten role play days now and only post the link to that 1x1 when the time line catches up. No having to wait to begin little stories.
• Writers can write multiple characters.
• Concerning post length and frequency and spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks:
• In the 1x1s, do as you and your partner wish.
• In the central thread:
• Replies should be a couple of paragraphs at least.
• Replies should be relevant to the story as a whole and/or most if not all of the characters.
• Grammar, spelling, and punctuation needs to be checked and corrected as appropriate. No lazy phone posts, please.

Past, Present, and Future

Past:
• 2020: The Greeve begin their conquest of Earth.
• By 2030, the Human population of Earth is <1 billion and still decreasing.
• By 2040, 90% of those humans still alive are either unwilling slaves of or willing servants to the Greeve; or they are Ferals, people living free, simple, inconspicuous lives, mostly in rural areas, mountains, or deserts.
• By 2050 -- today -- Earth is a relatively peaceful place once more. There is very little combat beyond small skirmishes; and most of the activity between the Greeve and Ferals is when the former raids the latter's communities for slaves.
Present:
• I don't have time to add this at the moment, but I will
The Future:
• The overall direction of the role play is set by the Hostess.
• She has put a lot of time and effort into creating this story. Please respect that.
• She is always willing to listen to new ideas, however.
• Just don't be offended if she politely says, Naw ... I would rather not go that way.
• The major phases of the Role Play are as follows:
• For now, the introduction of characters in and about Silo.
• Soon, an attack on Silo by the Paxico Patrol.
• Following that, the arrival of the New Kansas Patrol (as of yet to be introduced by Aussie_Wolf and Alice2015), which considers itself the legal ruling military force for all of Kansas.
• And at some point, a devastating visit by the Greeve. (Oh, won't that be fun?
• Other major phases are possible, but as if this time (6 Dec 2015), that is the plan.

The Silo

Location:
• 15 miles west of Topeka, Kansas.
• Google Maps Satellite View.
• Click the link to see the satellite view of the property.
• The silo is located in the middle of the field to the west of the house.
• There is no evidence of the silo from ground level:
• Though this two dimensional map doesn't show it, the field has a slight (12 foot) rise over the silo.
• The metal doors which would have slid open to allow the missile's launch were buried shortly after Glory and her people came to the site to create their little hideaway.
• Prairie grasses were planted on the mound of dirt.
• The original site now appears to be nothing more than a slight mound in a pasture frequented by goats and geese.
• Zoom out to see more of the area.
• Switch from "Satellite" view to "Map" view to see roads, towns, and their names.
• At the end of the driveway, where it meets Boothill Road, you can use Street View (the little yellow guy-shaped icon in the bottom right) to view the area from ground level. See the blue pickup? That's the driveway heading up to the Silo.
Physical Geography:
• Rolling hills with shallow gullies and small ponds.
• Scattered groves of trees, particularly following property lines, fences, gullies, water holes, and roads.
• For a ground level view of the area, click here for Google Map Street View.
Structures:
• House:
• Attic:
• Fortified sand bag sniper nests facing north, east, and south.
• Cots for back up Security Officers (SOs) not on duty but wanting to stay close.
• Second floor:
• Sniper nests facing all directions.
• SO Berthing (3 bedrooms, up to 4 SOs per.)
• Full bathroom.
• First floor:
• Walls: protected by sand bags, up to 7 feet in height.
• Windows and doors: protected by steel shudders that can be closed quickly.
• Front and rear entries: guarded 24 hours a day.
• Living room: socializing room.
• Den: Aurora's office.
• Bedroom: Aurora's topside living quarters. (She also has a small room inside the silo.
• Kitchen and dining room: serves meals to visitors and residents alike.
• Bathrooms: one full, one half.
• Basement:
• Armory: a small armory for emergency situations. Guarded 24 hours a day.
• Pantry: for the kitchen above.
• Utilities: electric furnace (used only when the power grid is operational); methane furnace (used only when fuel is available).
• Silo access: one of two tunnels to the former Command Center, through which the silo is accessed. (More on this below, including pic.)
• Brown Shed:
• Methane digester.
• Small shop with tools.
• Small berthing area for an occasional SO.
• Protected by a wall of sand bags, 7 feet high.
• Barn:
• Just your typical barn for animals, feed, and more, except...
• Berthing: 1 room at each end for a total of 4 SOs.
• Sniper positions on each wall.
• Wall of sand bags: 7 feet on ground level, 4 feet in loft.
• Guard Shack:
• The white object in the google map picture located a dozen yards southwest of the cattle guard.
• Small building for the convenience of the SOs.
• Bathroom, table, chairs, etc.
• Sand bag protection, of course.
• Fences:
• In the google map, you can see that a fence encloses about 2 acres of the property.
• Inside this fence is the farm house, the brown shed, and the guard shack.
• Typical wire fence.
• Using your imagination, 2 additional fences exist:
• Forest Fence:
• This fence runs through the trees from where the driveway meets the trees about 1000 feet east of the cattle guard, clockwise south of the structures to the west end of the property, then northeast to the body of water called North Pond.
• It is constructed of barbed wire salvaged from fence lines all about the valley, nailed to the trunks of the trees.
• It won't keep any intruder out, but then that's not its job.
• It is meant to attract the attention of intruders and make them less likely to discover one of the dozens of trip wires that are scattered through the forest, some attached to noise makers, some attached to flares.
• North Fence:
• This fence connects to the Forest fence at North Pond and follows the high tension power lines south to the last tall pole, where it then heads east to the first gully, then south to connect to the other end of the Forest Fence at the road.
• It uses the power poles and regular wire fence poles, once again salvaged from nearby properties.
Utilities and Services:
• Electrical Power:
• Grid:
• Buried cable from the public grid predates the Greeve attack.
• Occasionally, the grid gets power.
• Methane generators:
• One located on the top level of the silo; one located in the basement of the house.
• Methane is occasionally produced using a biogas digester outside the Animal Barn (the brown roofed barn southeast of the pond.
• A series of tanks scrounged from other properties are hidden in the trees southwest of the pond.
• Storage capacity is sufficient, but production is not.
• Windmills:
• 3 each, at different locations about the property.
• Only 1 works. 1 fell in a storm and 1 have a malfunctioning generator.
• Maximum of 1550 watts combined.

that was actually a working farm, growing wheat, corn, sorghum, and other crops.
[*]If you zoom out until you see Boot Hill Road, you can use Street View to look at the area from ground level.
[*]The area is mostly wild prairie, but there are also patches of mixed grains that have been planted haphazardly as to not attract attention from Greeve drones or satellites.
[*]The ponds are utilized for farmed fish, ducks and geese, and more.
[*]Neighboring small cities:
• Most were not attacked during the Greeve's conquest of Earth.
• Those that attracted attention with high levels of technology did, however, suffer from Greeve drone attacks. The Human's learned to be inconspicuous.
• Those that were inconspicuous to begin with look largely as they did prior to the Greeve arrival.
• The degree of civilization and security at these towns very, however. Most are open to a degree and were easily sacked by violent paramilitaries, such as the New Kansas Patrol.
[*]Neighboring larger cities:
• Most cities over 25,000 were destroyed entirely or greatly during the Greeve conquest.
• Greeve enslavement happened at some of these cities.
• They continued to be attacked by Greeve drones over the years until there was little noticeable human activity.
• Civilization and security are similar to that of the smaller towns except that in some towns rival Human paramilitaries fight one another for control.

The silo:
• The silo housed a Minuteman ICBM until it was decommissioned and removed in the 1980s.
• It sat idle for the next two decades until it was sold.
• A developer turned the silo into an underground condominium building, thinking the uniqueness would turn a profit.
• Before the structure had even been completed, the venture went bankrupt and again, the property sat unused.
• It wasn't until the attack on Earth by the Greeve that the silo was occupied.
• Today 100 people live in it.

Aurora

Image

Physical Description:
• 32 years old (born 2018).
• 5'10", 124#; 34C-23-35.
• Long, curly, dark hair that she wears wild.
• Mesmerizing, olive green eyes.
Background:
• 2018: born, Lawrence, Kansas.
• 2020: 2 years old when the Greeve attacked.
• Her mother, a Loan Manager with a bank, hid Aurora and some others in an abandoned missile silo the bank had assumed in a foreclosure.
• She grew up in the silo.
• She was greatly respected.
• 2040: Her mother is killed (with others) defending the Silo against invaders.
• Despite her youth, she was universally accepted as the Silo's new leader.
• 2042: She made allies with a paramilitary group, the New Kansas Patrol (NKP), to provide security outside of the Silo. It is her greatest cost, but without them the Silo would likely fail as a community and have to be abandoned.
Personality:
• Strong, confident personality.
• Dedicated to her community.
• Bi-sexual.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• The Silo, in a manner of speaking. She is the chosen leader of the community and -- because of the respect of the people -- has near-dictatorial powers.
• More to be disclosed.
Writer's Sexual Role Play Biography:
• I write sexual situations with both genders.
• This particular character is not promiscuous, but when she wants sex, she takes it regardless of length of familiarity with her imminent lover.
Note: As a host's character, Aurora is here to:
• Role play with other characters,
• And provide descriptions that will be of use to other writers.

Characters

Silo Residents:
• Aurora -- Silo's "Mayor" (Writer: Alice2015)
• Ella: Aide, 20 years old. (An NPC.)
• Vicki -- Prostitute (Writer: Alice2015)
• Tom Nightland -- Security Officer (Writer: Elvenoff1)
• Delal -- Wanderer (who only recently arrived); Tom Nightland's former lover. (Written by Alice2015)

Silo Neighbors:
• Jenny -- Fish Farmer. (Written by Alice2015)
Paxico (North of Silo: 3 miles by air, 5 miles by road):
• Blade -- "Sheriff" (Leader of the "Paxico Patrol", the town's domineering militia.) (Written by Alice2015.
• Angel -- Senior Deputy (Paxico Patrol, a militia) and lover to the Patrol's "Sheriff", Blade.
• Bullseye -- wanderer; newly arrived at Paxico. (Written by Aussie_Wolf).

Vicki -- Silo Prostitute

Image

Physical Description:
• 24 years old (born 2026).
• 5'9", 122#; 34B-22-35.
• Long, straight black hair.
• Deeply dark eyes.
Background:
• 2026: born. Birth place undeclared.
• Childhood details undeclared.
• 2044: Arrived at Silo on her own, covered in blood.
• She wouldn't tell anyone what happened.
• Immediately joined the brothel.
• Immediately became a favorite.
Personality:
• Strong, confident personality.
• Quickly angered by any type of violence.
• Ironically, she services S&M clients.
• Loner. She has no real friends at Silo.
• Professionally, she only services males.
• Personally, she only finds pleasure with other females.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• She has a small room in Silo.
• She doesn't have mush that is not associated with her work.
• Weapons are something she collects, often as payment for services rendered.
• She has several small pistols, several blades, and several straight edge razors.
Writer's Sexual Role Play Biography:
• I write sexual situations with both genders.
• This particular character is a whore and will do pretty much anything for which her client will pay.
• For her own pleasure, however, she only has sex with females.

The Greeve
and
The Annihilation of the Human Race

Who and what are the Greeve?
• Image
• Obviously alien but also humanoid in nature.
• So similar in appearance to one another that individual Greeve are indistinguishable by Humans.
• The are tall: 6'10 to 7' each.
• They are denser than humans, with heavier bones and muscle mass. The males average 280#, the females 250#.
• Physiologically, they are very similar to humans:
• Internally, they have 2 hearts, lungs, liver, digestive system: all there, slight variations, same purposes.
• Externally, they look like we do: 2 eyes, 2 ears, mouth, 2 arms, 2 legs. The females have a vagina and breasts, the males have a penis and testicles, though there are 4 of them.
• One significant difference: Claws! The Greeve have inch long claws on both their hands and their feet.
• Sex and reproduction:
• No human has ever seen a pregnant Greeve female, let alone seen one give birth, but it is assumed that they do so very much as humans do.
• A Greeve couple has been witnessed engaged in sexual intercourse, however, and -- while far more aggressive in nature -- it is basically Human Doggy Style fucking.
• There are stories of male Greeves raping Human females, but none of our characters have ever seen this happen. (Writers: Do not even go here ... yet.)
• Clothing:
• Indoors, they dress just as they are in the picture.
• There is a cultural reason for this that you, the writers and characters, are not yet privy. Patience by human friend, patience.
• Outdoors, they dress in very plain clothes -- sometimes coveralls, sometimes pants, shirts, and jackets -- primarily to protect themselves from the weather as well as provide pockets in which to carry their stuff.
• Speech:
• They do speak. They aren't telepathic or anything.
• They sound like something between a human and a gorilla.
• So far as our characters know, Humans are not able to verbally communicate with Greeve.

Arriving at, conquering, and enslaving Earth:
• 2020:
• Population of Earth:
• Human: 9 billion.
• Greeve: 0.
• The Greeve spacecraft arrives undetected in Earth's orbit.
• It separates into 16 smaller Sections, each an attack craft in and of itself.
• The assault of Earth begins:
• Each section heads for specific orbital paths that will take it over the maximum number of large, Earth cities.
• The Sections destroy satellites and disable Human communications.
• This is the first clue that Earth is under attack.
• Once in their orbits, Sections began irradiating the largest cities with directed neutron weapons. (List of cities irradiated)
• Humans by the billions die within days from radiation poisoning.
• There is no direct, destructive damage to property.
• The Greeve turn to the mid-sized cities, now swelled by refugees from larger cities. Again, billions continue to die.
• After months of attack from orbit, unmanned Greeve drones by the thousands fill the sky.
• They search for the heat signatures of Human populations and/or working machinery.
• They direct either irradiation attacks or bombings from orbit or larger drones.
• The Greeve land:
• They mostly land in remote areas.
• Humans are enslaved as laborers, primarily to extract and/or refine resources.
• Other human slaves are later forced to harvest, catch, or produce food that is loaded onto Greeve shuttles for return to the orbiting ships, even as the Human slaves themselves are nearly starving to death.
• 2021:
• Population of Earth:
• Human: 1.3 billion.
• Greeve: 30,000.
• The destruction of Human live is endless.
• In addition to the attacks from the orbiting ships and overhead drones, now entire groups of Humans are herded into small spaces and killed in simple but ruthless ways: burned alive in buildings, herded off cliffs into the raging surf below, burned with fuel they themselves were forced to collect from abandoned vehicles, and more.
• 2030:
• Population of Earth:
• Human: 500 million.
• Greeve: 250,000.
• The annihilation of the Human race continues.
• Some nations have surrendered and are treated more justly, while other resistant populations continue to be irradiated, pounded by bombs, killed in ever more ingenious ways, or enslaved.
• 50% of the Humans left alive are either outright slaves or willing laborers.
• 2036:
• Population of Earth:
• Human: 300 million.
• Greeve: 1 million.
• Humans who have been coordinating across the world rise up against the Greeve.
• The rebellion is put down in a matter of weeks.
• Tens of millions of Humans that the Greeve had wanted to use as laborers are summarily killed.
• 2040:
• Population of Earth:
• Human: 100 million.
• Greeve: 1.4 million.
• 90% of those humans still alive are either unwilling slaves of or willing servants to the Greeve.
• The Greeve production machine is extracting raw resources, producing goods, and growing/raising food with an efficiency never before imagined by Humans. Of course, this efficiency is built on the back of slaves, but hey ... they're just Humans.
• The rest of the Humans are what the Greeve derogatorily and the Humans proudly refer to as Feral Humans. They are people living free, simple, inconspicuous lives, mostly in rural areas, mountains, or deserts.
• There are still attacks and slave runs by the Greeve, but conflict is becoming rare.
• 2050: today:
• Population of Earth:
• Human: 50 million.
• Greeve: 2.2 million.
• Earth is a relatively peaceful place once more.
• There is very little combat beyond small skirmishes.
• Most of the activity between the Greeve and Ferals is when the former raids the latter's communities for slaves.
What the Greeve want:
• Resources. Pretty simple.
• Using mostly slave labor, they extract raw materials from the earth, grow crops, manufacture goods, and more.
• Some of it is used here on Earth, either by Greeve or Human populations; while some of it ascends to the orbiting ships via shuttles.
Behavior:
• They are goal minded. Humans rarely see Greeve not engaged in their jobs.
• I will have more to say about this soon, but I have posts I want to write right now.

Some Character/Interaction Ideas

The following are just some ideas
of characters and interactions you could consider.
Do not feel that these are all that are available.
You are free to create your own characters, of course.

Fish Farmer:
• There are a handful of ponds large enough to be full of water year round except in the time of extreme drought.
• Some of these could be fish farms.
• Silo would provide protection and compensation for someone working one of these.
• Possible dramatic situations could include:
• The above mentioned drought endangering your livelihood.
• Needing additional labor. What would you do for it?
• Raiders.
• More?
Grain Farmer:
• Silo is surrounded by open prairie, upon which grain could be grown.
• I have already mentioned in the OOC that mixed grains are being cultivated in such a way as to be inconspicuous from Greeve drones.
• Possible dramatic situations could include:
• The above mentioned drought endangering your livelihood.
• Fire or pests (insects, rabbits, more?).
• Needing additional labor. What would you do for it?
• Raiders.
• More?
"Ferals":
• This is a generic Greeve term for humans living in the wild.
• Perhaps you are a runaway slave.
• Perhaps you have been struggling on your own -- half starved, weak, lonely -- and would like a change.
Paramilitary Commander/Soldier:
• Before you get excited about this, such a role would have major restrictions and you probably wouldn't like it.
• I'm building too complex of a story line here to have a gun toting thug come in and make me rewrite everything.
• That being said, I'm sure some dramatic situations that serve both of our interests could be considered.
Small town residents:
• Silo is surrounded by small towns that survived the initial assault and continued harassment by the Greeve.
• Most have continued to have issues: with supply issues, with paramilitary, with simple raiders.
• There could be a story there.
Laborers/Craftsmen in Silo:
• Silo is a thriving community.
• It isn't all guns and girls.
• Create a laborer with a specialty or a craftsman and tell his/her story.

Cities Irradiated During Initial Assault (2020)

Upon entering the Earth system, the Greeve mother ship dispatches 15 Attack Ships. Each ship's primary weapon is a cannon that, every 11 minutes, can fire a beam that bathes ~500 square miles -- roughly the size of Los Angeles proper -- with a lethal level of neutron radiation.

In under 48 hours, 98% of those irradiated are dead.

The orbits of the ships are such that one will pass over each of the 88 largest cities on the planet in less than 50 hours. The cities below were all destroyed. (They are in order of population -- city and suburbs -- not the order in which they were destroyed. Some cities were irradiated more than once to cover more area.)

Delal

Pronounced without syllabic emphasis: del- as in Dell computer; -al as in alimony.

Image

Physical Description:
• 24 years old (born 2026).
• 5'6", 128#; 34C-26-36.
• Not skinny, not fat; well shaped, well rounded.
• Long, blonde hair, almost always worn as in the picture.
• Mesmerizing, hazel-green eyes.
Background:
• 2026: born somewhere in North Dakota.
• For 16 years, her tribe had migrated, south from Canada to the Great Plains, then east to the Ohio Valley, northeast through Appalachia to New York State. (More about her tribe below in "Notes" at bottom.)
• Along with more womanly tasks, she was taught weapons use and hand-to-hand combat.
• 2042: At age 16, after her Tribe reached Southwest New York (near Olean), they began traveling with the Fighting Falcons militia.
• 2046: At age 20, she became the lover of the Fighting Falcon's commander, Tom Nightland.
• 2047: Amid rumors that the Fighting Falcons might disband, Delal and the remaining tribe members disappeared in the dark of night.
• What happened to her over the next 3 years is unknown as of yet.
• 2050: She shows up at Silo, looking to trade.
• Sitting atop the llama she was leading was a 3 year old girl.
Personality:
• Strong, confident personality.
• Dedicated to her daughter.
• Potentially deadly if threatened.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• AR-15 automatic rifle with a couple of dozen 5.56x45mm rounds.
• Combat knife.
• Llama with a pack containing the very basics of survival.
• More (but not much more) to be disclosed.
Writer's Sexual Role Play Biography:
• She is heterosexual and monogamous.
• She is very inexperienced. (Don't let the child make you think she's a slut.)
Additional notes about her Tribe:
• She comes from an interesting cultural background.
• Between 2008 and 2018, while conflict raged across the Middle East, her ancestors fled their homes in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Lebanon, and Azerbaijan.
• Most went first to Europe as refugees, then relocated to the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan. Others were granted direct emigration to the province. Other were already Canadian citizens.
• These people were very different from one another and at the same time very similar. The greatest commonality: a desire to live a peaceful life with total acceptance of all people.
• This unusual behavior -- combined with a desire to live a simpler existence --caused them to move to a very isolated valley where they set up a community that lived off the grid.
• When the Greeve attacked in 2020, the community -- called the Tribe -- went without harm.
• A different enemy would be the community's downfall, however.
• In 2025, an American paramilitary group that had moved north to escape Greeve aggression attacked the Tribe. Many died. Many were abuse, with women raped, including Delal's mother.
• Nine months later, while the Tribe was, ironically, migrating south into the region their attackers had left, Delal was born.
• The tribe continued to move south, trading or battling as was necessary to preserve their community.
• In 2042, when she was 16, the Tribe -- now numbering 36 -- came into contact with the Fighting Falcons.
• The Falcons treated them fairly, for the most part.
• The Tribe stayed close by and became allies of the militia group.
• Some members even joined the Falcons, including Delal.
• Over time, the Falcons and Tribe both lost many members.
• By 2047, the Tribe numbered 18, including Delal.
• When the Falcons disbanded that year, the Tribe simply disappeared into the night. (The details of this have not been determined.)

Jenny

(Sometimes called "Jenny Girl" by the older Silo residents who knew her mother of the same name, "Mama Jenny".)

Images: Jenny with her AR-15, Jenny, her AR-15, and her dog "B2".

Physical Description:
• 21 years old (born 2029).
• 5'4", 102#; 32B-22-34; petite, tight body.
• Long, wavy, auburn hair; usually loose, sometimes under a scarf.
• Pale blue eyes.
Background:
• 2020: Her mother -- also named Jenny -- came to Silo with Aurora and others.
• 2028: After a terrifying black out event (described in Jenny's introductory post), the elder Jenny -- now pregnant by an as-of-yet-unidentified male -- leaves the silo and builds a pond and subsequent fish farm 3/4 of a mile south of Silo.
• 2029: Jenny -- sometimes called "Jenny Girl" -- is born.
• She grows up around the pond, and while she visits the farm house a lot, she's never been inside the Silo.
• 2046: At age 17, her mother is one of 22 people who die of a flu that rampages through the area.
• Jenny takes over the farm and even participates in building others.
• By all accounts, she is finally secure.
• December 2050: Two raiders attack her farm. She is rescued by Scott (aka Hellion). She also blows the head off of one of the raiders for killing her dog, Bones.
Personality:
• Strong and confident, but introverted.
• Not afraid to kill to protect herself or her property.
• At this point (Dec. 2050), still a virgin to heterosexual activity, though she is friendly with one of the Silo prostitutes who satisfies her needs occasionally with overnight visits.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• Fish farm, 3/4s of a mile south of Silo.
• All the necessary nets, barrels, knives, tools, smokers, etc., necessary to provide fresh and smoked fish to Silo.
• AR-15 and ammo.
• She had a German Shepherd, which was shot. She'll get another one.
Writer's Sexual Role Play Biography:
• I write sexual situations with both genders.
• This particular character is not promiscuous, but she is involved in a an infrequent lesbian relationship with a Silo prostitute.
• She wants to have a partner in life, and -- despite her current sexual experience -- she assumes that that partner will be a male.

Paxico, Kansas:

Location and Geography:
• Google Maps link
• 25 miles west of Topeka; 92 miles west of Kansas City.
• Mostly flat with low, rolling hills and tree lined gullies and streams.
Population:
• 2020 (Pre-Greeve): >300
• 2050 (today): <200, only 1/2 of which are original residents or their descendants.
• Paxico suffered 1 Greeve attack (2022) and 2 Greeve slave runs (2022, 2035).
Politics and Security:
• Before 2020 (Pre-Greeve):
• Government: City Council with Mayor.
• Law Enforcement: Wabaunsee County Sheriff. (Deputies' office was in City Hall.)
• >2020 (Post-Greeve):
• Government remained in place, though some of the faces changed.
• A resident Deputy was promoted to Sheriff.
• Although a State of Emergency was declared, few events required extraordinary acts by the Sheriff or City Council.
• Paxico was virtually unchanged for 2 years.
• 2022:
• A Greeve attack reduces the population to 110. Dozens culled (killed), dozens more were enslaved, and dozens more fled, with only half of them returning.
• However, the government continued and the Sheriff maintained law and order.
• 2035:
• A second Greeve culling/slave run again reduces the population.
• Some of the younger "Deputies" providing Paxico its protection feel they deserve more compensation.
• The Sheriff -- now in his 70s -- refuses their demands.
• His is killed, the City Council is dissolved, and the Paxico Patrol is created.
• A former Deputy declares himself Sheriff.
• The Patrol is little more than an occupying militia, made up of mostly non-Paxico residents, and has total control of the economy, resident movement, trade, and more.
• Compared to many militia's, however, it is relatively fair to the residents.
• 2045:
• Tensions are rising amongst the Sheriffs Departement as its newest members begin to pressure their leader for better compensation.
• "Blade", the youngest but most respected of the Deputies, cuts the Sheriff's head off and declares himself Sheriff.
• Dissent is quelled by several murders and burnings.
• The residents fall into line.
Land Use:
• 2020 (Pre-Greeve): A variety of crops filled the land. (Google Map satellite view of pre-Greeve cultivation.)
• 2050 (Today):
• Far less land is cultivated.
• Most cultivated land is mixed grains to make it less conspicuous to overflying Greeve drones that look for significant Human settlement.
Economy:
• 2020 (Pre-Greeve): Agriculture and agriculture-related; light manufacturing; tourism/gifts.
• 2050 (Today): Agriculture, brewing, light manufacturing (mostly jerry rigging with available resources), salvaging, barter.

Angel

Physical Description:
• 26 years old (born 2024).
• 5'8", 138#; 36D-26-35.
• Shoulder length hair, bleached blonde (naturally dark brunette).
• Steel blue eyes.
• Pierced upper lip, right side. Normally wears a 1.5 carat flawless diamond.
• Flawless, fair skin. Neatly plucked brows.
• Shaved down there.
Background:
• 2024: born, near Denver, Colorado.
• 2036 (age 12): Her family began to move about, searching for a safer place to live. One by one, her family members died, from disease, accident, or homicide.
• 2039 (age 15): Now with only her ailing cousin, she is taken in -- not particularly by choice -- by a group and forced to become the play thing of the group's leader.
• 2041 (age 17): Now the last of her family, she kills her lover and flees with 4 others.
• 2043 (age 19): She meets and -- for the first time -- becomes a voluntarily lover of a man who heads a militia.
• 2046 (age 22): The militia suffers a Greeve attack and is virtually annihilated. She flees alone, now armed with her coveted AK-47 and its drum magazine.
• 2047 (age 23): She arrives in Paxico and quickly takes her place as Blade's lover and Senior Deputy, to the chagrin of his other Deputies.
Personality:
• Psychopathic; killer.
• Had killed a dozen men and one woman by age 26 (2050).
• Outwardly, she is strong and confident.
• Inwardly, she is constantly fearful of being betrayed and/or abandoned.
• Bisexual, explained more below.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• Favorite weapons are an AK-47 with a drum magazine and a 9mm Glock.
• 1.5 carat diamond lip stud. (Story yet-to-be-explained.)
Character's Sexual Biography:
• She loves sex.
• Publicly, she is heterosexual, Blade's lover.
• Semi-publicly, she sometimes engages in threesomes with Blade and other women for his erotic satisfaction.
• Privately, she has fucked other men (and women) as part of a conspiracy to overthrow Blade and take over the Paxico Patrol. So far, the conspiracy has remained secret but has also been a failure.
Conspiracy to overthrow Blade:
• Angel is trying to take over the Paxico Patrol by eliminating, then replacing Blade.
• To do this, she must first find an outsider to kill Blade and his most loyal Patrolmen...
• ...then convince those on the fence that she can better lead them and Paxico.
• She already has followers within the Patrol and Paxico itself.
• She can't simply kill Blade because his loyal followers would kill and rape her, in no particular order.

"Blade" (formerly "Robert Primm", though none call him that)

Physical Description:
• Image, Image with knife.
• 25 years old (born 2025).
• 5'8", 165#; a solid wrestler-like body; muscular, fit, strong.
• Hair: Short cropped, brunette.
• Eyes: deep brown.
• Various scars.
Background:
• 2025: born, Paxico, Kansas.
• Father is a Deputy in the Paxico Sheriffs Department.
• "Robert" grows up knowing that his father disapproves of how the Patrol dominated Paxico.
• His father tells him often, "One day, things will be different ... better."
• 2041 (age 16):
• Robert's father is killed in a gun battle with raiders.
• Robert secretly blames the current Sheriff, who should have sent reinforcements.
• Robert immediately becomes a Deputy, with the goal of getting close to take his revenge.
• 2045 (age 20):
• Robert comes to be called "Blade" for his love of knives and swords and for his skill in using them.
• He has killed eight men by now, all with a bladed weapon:
• 5 he killed publically in the course of his job: 3 outsiders and 2 insubordinate locals.
• 3 he killed privately either to steal resources or secure more power for himself: all were Paxico locals.
• Despite his youth:
• He is building quite a following amongst the Deputies, old and young, new and old.
• Many feel they deserve more compensation for the work they do and/or simply that they have the power.
• And he is building relationships with some of the Paxico residents/merchants.
• He arranges better living and/or working conditions, for a confidential and personal cut, of course.
• He is walking a tight rope:
• Publically, he pledges his loyalty to the current Sheriff, even going above and beyond to keep the man in power at times.
• Privately, he is reassuring his loyal deputies that he himself will one day rid them of the Sheriff.
• One afternoon he stabs the Sheriff in the heart.
• Blade tells him, "That day my Pa said things would be different ... better. That day is today."
• He immediately consolidates his power:
• He kills a dozen people who had been loyal to the dead Sheriff -- 3 Deputies and 9 resident.
• He promises increased compensation to the Deputies.
• He deputizes a dozen friends who he has been cultivating for years.
• He declares a dozen businesses to be City property, meaning that they are now control by the Patrol.
• He establishes a whore house in the Junior High to keep his men happy.
• And more.
• Despite what his father had taught him about being a leader -- about serving the people -- Blade becomes even more of a tyrant than any of the Sheriffs who had preceded him.
• 2047:
• Meets and begins to bed Angel, a new arrival to Paxico.
• She is as psychopathic and brutal as he is.
• It isn't long before she is his Senior Deputy (his right hand man).
• This sudden rise in Angel's power -- just because she sucks and fucks -- doesn't sit well with some of his Deputies.
• In a gathering of them, he steps up behind a detractor with a short sword and cuts the man's throat, then severs his head. He asks, "Does anyone have an issue with Angel's position now?" No one did, and she's been secure in her position since.
• 2050, today (age 25):
• Blade is beginning to learn that some of his deputies are skimming.
• He believes it is men loyal to him.
• It's not. (See Angel's profile for more on this.
Personality:
• Strong, confident personality.
• Homicidal psychopath.
• Dedicated to his own power.
• Totally smitten with Angel.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• He rules over Paxico, so he can basically have anything he wants.
• Extensive collection of bladed weapons.
• Three walls of one of the rooms attached to his office are covered in them.
• They include regular old knives of all sizes and types, several swords from various ages (both antiques and reproductions), and even a real Klingon bat leth that had come from a Trekkies' home.
Character's Sexual Role Play Biography:
• He had had many women prior to Angel, some against their will.
• Since Angel, he's been monogamous.
• He is absolutely infatuated with her.
Note:
• This character is expendable, but only via a death planned in detail with his writer.

Bullseye
Used to have another name but now this is all he uses.

Personality
• Quiet.
• When he does speak it is usually surly or gruff.

• Especially hates paramilitary groups as he feels they should be fighting the Greeve as they have the might.
• A true loner prone to outbursts of violence if he feels threatened in any way.
Possessions
• His main weapon is a Barrett M50 sniper rifle
• Other weapons include various knives, grenades, three pistols (M9, Glock 19 and a M19 for added stopping power). He also has a Hk416 with a suppressor and a standard M16. He also has a wide variety of scopes to fit all of his weapons.
• He is kitted out with a state of the art Kevlar vest, webbing for all of his ammo pouches, grenades, plus emergency rations. A backpack and a camouflage suit laced with heat suppressing technology to foil the Greeve scouting robots.
Writers Sexual Role Play Biography
• Can write with both Sexes (Three way interactions).
• This character is straight though.
• Sexually will take what he wants and will not really care about the woman's needs.
• Will normally use a whore because of this.

Ned Reynolds

Ned Reynolds

Position at Silo: Mechanic and all around Handy Man

Physical Description:
• ~35; born ~2015. (Exact year unknown.)
• 6'2", 190 lbs.
• Black hair, long; typically worn in a pony tail.
• Green eyes.
• Body features (scars, tattoos, etc.): none that anyone has seen
Background:
• Ned joined the Silo when he rolled up to its gates in an actual working car. It wasn't like something from the cities; it was an amalgam of parts from different cars he had found. Through some crafty engineering and jury-rigging, he got all the parts to work together to get him across the wide open places with little to no interference.
• That's not to say that he hasn't been touched by the world outside the Silo. He remembers living in Chicago when the Greeve showed up. He remembers screaming and running with his parents. He doesn't talk about how he got out of the city however.
• Ned's formative years were spent shuttling around rural Illinois, trying to find parts for his project car and making deals to stay fed and sheltered.
• During these runs, he heard about people trying to make communities out of old missile silos, built during the days that humanity thought it was going to blow itself up. Rumor after rumor turned out to be untrue.
• Then, word reached him about a place in Kansas that was actually making a real effort to preserve humanity. Luckily, he was just about ready to fire up his car. So one night, he pushed his finished work to the edge of town and fired it up and never looked back.
• Crossing the Mississippi was the hardest part of his trip as the Greeve controlled most of the bridges across it. Most, but not all. No one thought that someone would try to cross on a rail bridge, let alone in a car. Desperation makes people do interesting things.
• One quick conversion to drive on the rails later, and Ned was on his way. Making his way across Missouri and into Kansas required a lot of detours to avoid places like St. Louis and Kansas City, but what was worse was trying to get gas for the car.
• Ned had to keep his car secret, but people knew how important gas was for everything from generators to keeping stoves lit. He bargained for a gallon here, he swiped a half gallon there. There were a number of things he did to keep his car running, not many were things of which he could be proud.
• All of that didn't matter when he rolled up to the gate of the Silo outside of Topeka. Luckily, trading his "chariot" to the colony for entry seemed like a good deal to all those involved. A car would make it easier to go out looking for salvage and a man with knowledge of all sorts of technical things would be helpful to keep things running.
Personality:
• Ned is not a fighter. He knows that about himself. He will defend himself, but he'd rather take the time to not put himself in a position where he'd risk getting punched in the first place.
• Ned is pretty cold to the people of the Silo community. The people he talks with the most are the other technicians and engineers that work on keeping all the various systems of the Silo up and running. The next people he talks to are the prostitutes that work the Silo. Beyond that, people are lucky to get more than a few words out of him at a time.
• To those that pay attention to him, Ned seems completely unflappable. Nothing really bothers him. He takes things that happen in stride without moaning or complaining; "Just a waste of energy" he'll say if asked. If caught in a room when the power fails, he'll click on his pen light and immediately set to work troubleshooting the failure and fix it if he can. No time wasted asking "What's going on? What's happening?" and the like.
• Ned seems averse to guns, though he has no problem carrying or using one if the situation calls for it. Given how the world works now, he understands their importance, but will go to great lengths to ensure that there is no call for shooting.
Possessions Worth Noting:
• Ned might be the only resident with a shelf full of technical manuals, engineering textbooks and architectural design books. They all show varying signs of wear and age, but all seem relatively intact.
• When Ned isn't wearing his welding goggles at work, he routinely wears a set of turn of the century Oakleys. He doesn't remember where he got them, but he can't seem to live without them given how frequently he wears them, even underground.
• He has a small hoop earring that he wears almost always. He refuses to talk about where he got it and gets visibly upset if pressed about it.
Character's Sexual Biography:
• Ned loves women, but never seems to want to get emotionally attached to one. This is why he visits the brothel levels on a pretty regular basis.
• Word around the girls is that Ned has above average stamina in bed.
• He doesn't seem to have a favorite girl yet, however.
Writer's Sexual Role Play Biography:
• I prefer to write scenes where my character is having sex with women (1 or more)
• Group scenes are fine as well, but don't expect sexual interactions with male characters.

Terminology

I only just began this, so it is far from complete.
I will add to this often.
If you question a word you saw that is not included below,
PM me for an explanation and I will inform you and add it here.

Greeve: The aliens who attacked Earth.

Gophers: Pet name for those living in the silo ('cause they live in a hole, get it?)

New Kansas Guard:
• The current form of what was once the Kansas National Guard.
• Without government support and supervision, it is little more than a powerful militia.
• It supports itself by collecting taxes -- tribute -- from the communities within its sphere of domination.
• That sphere does not follow the former state boundaries of Kansas.
• "The Guard", as it is called locally, is commanded by a character belonging to Aussie_Wolf.
• Please do not write about it without his permission and guidance.
Silo: The community at the heart of our story.

FAQs

I have only just posted this page, so it doesn't have anything on it yet.

Patience. :)

Some questions will be answered right here.
Others will be links to longer, more detailed explanations.

If you are still scratching your head after reading the FAQs, PM the hostess.

Can I be a Greeve or write actions for them?
No! Only the Hostess can write for the Greeve.

Can I create "facts" about the Greeve that are not already established?
Absolutely not! Facts about the Greeve are the Hostess's domain only!

The Greeve Attack On Earth

2020: Population of Earth: Human, 9 billion; Greeve: 0.
• October:
• The Greeve Mother Ship arrives undetected in Earth's orbit.
• 15 Attack Craft disengage and take specific orbital paths to complete the attack phases.
• Phase One (4 days):
• Earth's largest military bases are attacked with powerful, non-nuclear bombs.
• Lasers destroy satellites.
• Phase Two (3 days):
• 88 of Earth's largest cities are irradiated by Directed Neutron Beam Weapons.
• Billions from radiation poisoning within days.
• There is no direct, destructive damage to property.
• Phase Three (34 days):
• Mid-sized cities and smaller military bases are irradiated.
• Again, billions die.
• Phase Four (18 months, beginning November 2020):
• Greeve drones by the thousands fill the sky.
• They search for signs of significant Human population and direct either irradiation attacks or bombings from orbit or larger drones.
• Phase Five (2022):
• The Greeve begin landing.
• Humans are enslaved or hunted.
• Shuttles begin lifting valuable resources to arriving Greeve transports, which then ship the goods away to distant planets.
