Cain Marko is 29 and not Juggernaut yet.(because I was trying to "do" something related to Juggernaut with Gambit before/earlier and it was brought to my attention)

The X-Men haven't yet been on their first mission...so have no known 'enemies' yet.

We're working on a current-era storyline, yes? So, it's 2013...Xavier is 27 (really? he was much older in actual canon when he pulled the team together after having opened his school slightly earlier than that)...how does this mesh with the rest of our Marvel Universe? How long ago was the FF's space flight? Their reveal to the public as powered individuals? The formation of the Avengers? Was there an Invaders in our world? (I can't think of any other teams that would have predated the Avengers and Fantastic Four.)

Closer to home...so to speak ...what time of the year is it? Are we kicking (rekicking?) off just past mid-summer like it is now? Given the restrictions of this site, is Xavier's a junior college or is it still a posh boarding school with mostly high school and pre-collegiate studies (with a smattering of younger classes and/or individuals) and we just studiously keep anyone not of age out of the wrong sorts of posts/storylines?

I think it's important that the X-Men stay true to their character, but you still have some freedom to change things as you wish.

For example, Kitty was much younger when she was recruited, and she was brought on in a much different way with Emma Frost in the comics, but that bit had been changed. And Dazzler is now a stripper, sooo...Charles can be 27, bald, and just now getting his team together.

There are younger characters at the school, but due to restrictions and rules, none of our characters are under 18, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going to say, it is Summer time. When we started the roleplay IC it was "Saturday". Really not much time has happened between the time we started and now. At least in game. So for all intents and purposes it could very well be...*gasp*.....SATURDAY NIGHT now.....maybe even pushing SUNDAY morning.

The school is going to be high school(18+) for the reasons you mentioned, with some college courses smattered in there as well. I'm guessing anyone that is in high school, like Kitty, will be in their final year before they can graduate. So it may be of benefit to have more people of the 18 year age bracket...just so we can "throw them in her class" of sorts. Everyone else can be taking more courses at the school or commute at one of the nearby colleges as well.

**EDIT -- It's JUNE. Per my post with Colossus, `one month ago` would have been May and put Kitty near FINALS.

Sam could very well have been in some classes with her. Either because of not being quite so far along, what with having to drop some schooling to help support his family, as well as Kitty having always been portrayed as above-average (if not genius level) intelligence and prolly taking classes beyond her actual age.

I made Sam older than necessary just in case anyone wanted to pick up Paige at a later point.

Well, you can maybe make him 19 -- that's still "older" and enables someone to assume the identity of his younger sister if need be.....or.....make Jamie 18! *nudge*

Background:

Kevin grew up just outside of Cedar Rapids to a loving family. He, at one time, looked like a normal teenager. It wasn't until his later teens that the odd experiences he had felt since puberty began to get out of control, especially following the death of his mother from lung cancer. It was this break that caused his appearance to fade into the 'grotesque' look with his bleached white and noseless appearance. He was a freak, a rarity, but odd things sometimes did happen. He had been to many doctors and though they had never determined the reason behind his appearance, they did determine he had a lack of pigmentation and it appeared the bones that would have assisted in the formation of a nose were missing. They came up with a bunch of conclusions, none which ever made real sense, but they had to come up with something. However, Kevin soon learned he had an ability to change that look and change his outlook with laughter.

Once night when he was watching a stand up comedian he had begun laughing uncontrollably and at first what became an odd sensation turned to a painful reaction. Curled up on the floor in a ball convulsing in pain for a few minutes, though it felt like eternity, suddenly the discomfort stopped. Confused and covered in sweat Kevin ran to the bathroom for the shock of his life. What he saw in the mirror was the comedian he had just been watching on television. The light bulb immediately went on in his head and he ran back to the television and changed the channel. As he stared at the screen and concentrated this time his body changed again, but there had been no pain.

With an uproar of laughter and delight he ran back to the mirror and and before him a playmate model wasn't only looking at him, but he reached down and realized he also had boobs! As he begun to laugh uncontrollably he felt realized humor had been his awakening to this new reality and from that day forwards he became a joker, comedian, and the happiest man in the world.

Using his new abilities to his advantage he quickly became a star baseball player, got a free ride to a small college, and graduated college with honors. Just as he was about to start pursuing a masters in computer engineering he received a letter from Xavier to visit and work as a teaching assistant at his school in New York.

Appearance:

When among students and faculty at Xavier's school he most often maintains his "nature" appearance. His skin is incredibly white, his face lacks a nose, and his eyes lack pupils. Its not that there is too much concentration involved to maintain the forms of other people, he simply likes to remain 'normal' among the other 'normals'. Kevin is five feet and then inches tall and weighs roughly about 175lbs when 'normal'.

However, with his malleable body, he often tends to change form slightly if attempting to impress a female, make someone laugh, or look tougher among the stronger males in the school.

Powers/Abilities:

Malleability: He is composed of unstable molecules, which gives him the ability to shapeshift. His powers seem only limited by his great imagination and sense of humor. He can transform body parts and is a natural mimic of voices and sounds. He can change the chemical composition of his body into a gas or liquid. He is able to fly: in the past he has formed wings and thrusters, however in at least one instance he has shown the ability to fly through sheer force of will. He can also change his color, stretch, contract, extort, compress, and expand his body.

High Resistance: Due to Morph's genetic make-up he is extremely durable and resistant to physical damage. He is much more susceptible to energy based attacks.

Amorphous Recovery: The flexible molecules that comprise Morph's body are able to split and fuse back together, allowing him to survive injuries such as dismemberment. However, this process takes time and becomes more ardurous when Morph is recovering from a burn wound or damage imposed by radiation.

Scentless: The substance that makes up his physical composition is odorless and emits no scent, making it impossible to track him.

Powers: Madrox has the mutant power of taking in kinetic energy as it impacts against his body and using it to create near perfect duplicates of himself and any gear on his person.

Background: Unlike most mutants, Jamie Madrox came into his powers while still in the womb. HIs parents, and his mother's doctor, chalked it all up to a series of false positives for multiple births...especially when only he came out. But when first prodded by the doctor to breathe, he split--only briefly--into two infants. Fortunately, his father was an engineer who immediately turned his attention and energies towards developing a device to protect his newborn son from even the slightest of disturbances.
....[The unique shirts and leggings that Jamie rotates through, wearing them constantly--either alone or hidden beneath more ordinary clothing, contain the circuitry that keeps him in control when and how severely his power activates. This electronics had begun failing when Jamie was forced to try and alter them on his own after his parents died suddenly and left him "alone" to run their small farm and dairy.
.....To try and get expert help in repairing the electronics, Jamie left a number of dupes to run this at home and came to New York in the hopes of getting the assistance of Dr. Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. Unfortunately, even namedropping his scientist father had not gotten Jamie past the robotic receptionist in the lobby of the Baxter Building. More people than Jamie had expected were making demands of one of the first super-powered individuals who was also a scientific genius. On returning, dejected, to his hotel room, however, Jamie found a message from Dr. Richards letting him know that, while his immediate problem might be his father's device failing, what he really needed help with was something a man named Charles Xavier might be better able to help with.

Skills: Jamie is an above average athlete with actual training in a variety of sports and martial skills--training augmented by him discovering that, when reabsorbed, a dupe would carry not just emotional memories of things experienced on its own, but also memories of learning such as dance steps, trivia, languages, skills Jamie did not have before reabsorption.

Background:

Betsy and her twin brother, Brian, were born to Sir James and Lady Elizabeth Braddock in Maldon, England at Braddock Manor. She lived a very privileged life and was extremely close to her family. Always a free spirit, Betsy currently holds a pilot’s license and takes great pride in her Cessna 172 Skyhawk. She has also dabbled in the world of modeling but prefers being in the sky more than anything else.

Her psychic powers began to manifest around the age of 14 and by the time she was in her late teens, she was a full blow telepath. Along with telepathy, she developed precognition and empathy, all of which she learned to control until the death of her parents. The loss of both her father and mother has proven to be an extremely hard time in her life and neither she nor her brothers believed that it was a laboratory accident that took their lives. They have spent much time searching for who was behind the death of their parents.

Besty has long known Professor Charles Xavier and is very familiar with his work. She is currently at the school to further her psychic abilities.

Appearance: Betsy is a little over 5’11 and weighs around 155lbs. She has blue eyes and long, straight black hair. Whenever the feeling takes over her, she dyes that hair purple.

Powers: Betsy has an extremely sensitive tuned sense of empathy. She can tell the emotional state of a person just by being in the same vicinity.

She is telepathic and that has proven to be dangerous in the past. When she is linked to another person she is at her most vulnerable.

She has begun to explore her ability with precognition or future sight. Events in the near future can be seen but her record with this ability is spotty.

There is also the possibility of telekinesis. She is currently working through this ability with Xavier.
