X-Men: A Bright New World OOC

It's been a crazy few days, and I have volleyball practice after work on Th/Fr this week, so I will put up another post and a new profile for Shadowcat this weekend.

All of this, BEFORE, I can post for Colossus, because that'll most likely advance the story!

Hey all. I just wanted to give an update of my situation. When I posted up my CS, I was just about to leave for a trip to South America. Unfortunately, I expected better connectivity than I eventually ended up having, and only returned a few days ago. When I was in South America, I managed to get connectivity once, and even then it was really choppy and expensive. So after a few attempts at trying to post (and losing my post after hitting Submit Reply and disconnecting) I decided to hold off posting until after I returned.

Over the past few days I've been in contact with Lachiyous, who has since told me that someone else has picked up my character, Shadowcat, despite not having seen anyone post about that either in the IC or OOC threads, and wasn't willing to negotiate on that point at all. Having invested too much thinking into one character, and being really excited to play that character, I don't feel like writing up a rolling up a new character that would be a second-choice play, as I know that I wouldn't be as fully invested into the RP as I would have been with Shadowcat. Therefore, I'm going to be dropping out of this RP thread and have also removed my bio post. Sorry all, and have fun!

Hey there...thanks for the invite, looking forward to playing...I will try to have Cannonball and Multiple Man up later today or tomorrow afternoon, just need to read up on origins in canon and how best to adapt them for our own storyline/chronology.

What's the set-up on The Hellfire Club, btw? I saw Shaw mentioned, but he was described as the White King which was Pierce's role and Donald Pierce originally factored into Cannonball's origin.

I believe in this Universe Shaw is the current leader of the Hellfire club

Tight is right. According to the information given to me by Felix80, Shaw is the White King and Emma Frost the White Queen. I'll look through what he shared with me and see if I can see any reference to Donald Pierce.

"Remec": Look forward to you joining us bud! As for CANNONBALL, I think we can definitely scrap the New Mutants/X-Force remnants since this roleplay is the "start" of the X-Men. And yes, "tcost" will have most -- if any -- of the actual notes from the previous GM on Shaw and Pierce. I can't imagine Donald not being involved in his 'Club though. Remember, you can change lil' things here and there, as long as the 'essence' of the character is there -- IE, Sam shouldn't be a nocturnal cross dresser.....orORor......hm. Do you think you could make THAT work??? Hehe. Aside from any of that and more into the 'future' of the team, I think it'll be interesting to have TWO Southerners bouncing around in Chucky's mansion!

And Madrox is just the kinda maniac that I think you can easily master -- compliment meant!!

Real Name: Katherine "Kitty" Pryde.
Alias: Shadowcat.
Age: 18.
Birthplace: Deerfield, Illinois.

Powers/Abilities

Kitty has the ability to pass through solid matter. She can pass through any object and can temporarily merge while unharming the object or herself. This process is called "phasing"and it renders her almost completely intangible to physical touch. While phased, she is immune to most physical attacks, and may even show some resistance to telepathy.

Kitty can also extend her powers to phase other people and objects, as long as they maintain physical contact with her. Currently, she is still having difficulty phasing other people with her, but objects aren't proving to be a problem. She is still working on that part of her power. Over the years, her powers have increased dramatically, and she's always looking for ways to improve, and explore more of what she is capable of.

Brief Background

Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde was born in Deerfield, Illinois to Carmen and Theresa Pryde. She had a pretty, normal relationship with her parents. Her mom, especially, who was aware of her powers wanted her to be taken in somewhere where someone would help them take care of her, and help not get rid of her powers, but help her control them. At one point, she'd been so turned around, unable to turn the phasing off.

After coming to Charles Xavier for help, her parent's trusted Charles' intentions and the whole cause with his school, and she enrolled into his school a little over two years ago now. Her closet friend and ally had quickly became Piotr, who has played a big part in helping her with her control and potential. With Charles' help, her instant bond with him helped her trust and open herself up to a different world that she'd been too scared to be a part of. Now, she's never felt more in-tune with her powers and the people around her.

Name: Sam Guthrie

Age: 21 (I decided to make him a little older...just in case anyone was of a mind to play Husk. *g*)

Description: Sam is lean and lanky, but with a strongly developed upper body from working around a small family farm at a young age, and within in a mine from the time he was legally able to do so. He has close-cropped blonde hair (of the bright, Alice-in-Wonderland, yellow type) and bright blue eyes (much like Paul Newman).

Powers: Cannonball is a mutant who possesses the ability to bodily generate thermo-chemical energy and release it from his skin. This energy is mainly used as thrust to cause his body to be propelled through the air like a rocket, at great heights and speeds with considerable maneuverability. He can control his speed and direction through sheer act of will.

This energy also manifests itself as an impenetrable and virtually indestructible "blast field" that protects him from bodily harm. In much the same way he uses mental control to maneuver while flying, he can direct the field to other purposes.

Currently, Sam is learning to create a shield, both around himself or extending it to encompass others; to extend and enclose the field in such a way as to imprison another person; and to absorb outside kinetic impact into his own energy supply, enabling him to increase the bludgeoning power of his blows or to create explosive shock waves upon impact.

Background: Sam Guthrie was a bit of a dreamer, but he was pragmatic, as well, and knew that he Ma and Pa would need him to help out in bringing in money for the family at least for a few more years, while his younger siblings reached an age where they could chip in and he could, maybe, manage to escape the dreary fate of being a company man in the local mine. (Much as his father and grandfather and several generations of cousins, uncles, and neighbors had been.)
.....When he was coming of age, he had had some odd dreams of heat and rushing energy coursing through him and rushing lightly over his body, but not quite touching his flesh. Not knowing what to make of it, he let it slide without mentioning it to anyone. Then came the accident. A large, unprecedented for the area, earthquake had rattled the mine and set off some explosions in the lower areas still being tested for safety. This brought the ceiling down in the area where Sam, his dad, and some other men had been working. In the burst of adrenaline that came with the panic of the accident, Sam's power burst forth in a way that propelled him right through the crumbling ceiling and out onto the side of the mountain, allowing everyone to escape. It was chalked up to a pocket of gas exploding, but a write-up about the incident caught the eye of Charles Xavier, and he arranged a meeting to recruit Sam to his school, and the X-Men team.

Happy to see another character in the mix.

Let's start deciding where and when we want things to pick back up. I've held off because I worried that once Alison leaves the mansion, that something might happen and she'd need to be somewhere else.

Happy to be here...and I will finish writing up Madrox later this evening or tomorrow morning.

I would be fine with just starting Sam off outside the gate to the school/mansion grounds. The timing of his arrival would be something we'd need to decide upon.

I think ideally, it would be cool if all of the new characters -- Beast, Shadowcat, Cannonball and Multiple Man -- WERE all ready at the mansion, and all ready students at the School(as in the "First Students of Xavier's"). Maybe they have just been elsewhere......sleeping, at other areas, off location, etc etc...

Should you think of a reason for your character to NOT be a student all ready, that's fine as well. The length of time that your character has been there is of course up to you guys.

Colossus, for instance, will have been at the school probably for three years plus. Gambit, obviously, is not yet...heh....warmly accepted therein.

Now let me go read those important "notes" so I can compare them to your guys' profiles, before sounding off. Thanks!

Feel free to post in character for those approved characters as you please. We can loosely shoot for this coming weekend -- Saturday, Sunday -- for all new characters to post in character. That should wrack up enough time for profiles to be posted, I'm hoping. Basically I want more abled bodies on the team, or at least an UP AND RUNNING TEAM to speak of...before I post anything for Colossus. How does everyone feel about this? I say loosely. I'm flexible of course.

**Note for in game -- NO ONE knows that Professor Xavier is a mutant. This has not been revealed to anyone yet, so take care of that knowledge. "Mutant kind" is very new, upon its precipice remember...

So let's ASSUME that she DOES in fact have one. Now the Cajun wouldn't....unless it was *SNUCK* in the pocket of his trench coat...*smirk*

Me and tcost had planned a way to get Alison to come back, but if he's away for some time, Alison will either be out of the game for a bit, or I can find a different way for her to stay.

Yeah. It's been eight days. Since there's no way to get ahold of him, we just have to hope he's going to be okay irl....and carry on in game in the meantime.

I think the phone element would be the way to go. If his absence continues on, I'll probably work to set Professor X up as an NPC or get him out of the scene somehow...anticipating on "tcost's" eventual return.

The site seems up and working again, it was really slow and hard to connect earlier.

I was thinking about maybe doing a much older character, that is if Xavier is being played older as well? They are stepbrothers, though I believe Juggernaut is younger, not sure, forget.

Anyways, I was thinking of portraying Juggernaut, once enemy, but eventual ally to the X-Men. Granted as this is a totally new timeline, I can make him a combo of ally and enemy if you'd like the twist. Granted how he gets through most doorways without smashing them I haven't determined yet Suppose he'll stay mostly out of mansion besides in open rooms...lol
