Lol, funny Lach. I like the Jubilee posts. One of the nice things about the separate sex threads isthat our characters can still interact in the main thread while we take our time.

Wulfette, I am looking forward to Kitty's first post. If I have time I'll shoot you a pm with ideas about how she and Doug have been interacting. There is potential there for one hell of a rocky relationship.

Also, Tight, excellent Rogue posts. I'll write up some Emma info for you this weekend. I want to do a preview post with her and Sebastian after thhe X-Men's first mission.

I hadn't realized that this thread was up, or I would have posted yesterday. Will put up a bio in an hour or two, but I want to do some fairly quick research first.

I'm going to write it up having read only this OOC thread and not the IC material yet. If there is anything in Charles' background that is at odds with something that's been established ICly, please let me know. The professor is integral to the background of several characters, and feel free to let me know if you want anything tweaked to fit more smoothly with your own histories.

Education: B.A. from Harvard University at age 16;
PhDs in Genetics, Biophysics, Psychology, and Anthropology with a two-year residence at Pembroke College, Oxford University, where his graduate advisor was Dr. Erik Lensher.

Skills: Charles has a genius-level intellect, a leading authority on genetics, mutation, and psionics, and an expert in other life sciences. He is highly talented in devising equipment to using and enhancing psionic powers. He is also a master strategist and an excellent tactician, able to read the minds of foes on the battlefield and often in advance of hostilities, which he normally works to avert.

Knowledge of the Body: A good athlete from his youth, Charles spent the end of his teenage years as an adventurer, and during this time he became a proficient hand-to-hand fighter and gained knowledge of pressure points. This knowledge of the body and its energies/chakras has enabled him to keep in the prime of his physique. He has the strength of a normal man who engages in moderate regular exercise, particularly in his upper body.

Powers:

Telepathy: the ability to read the minds of others and to project his own thoughts and images into the minds of others within a normal range of 250 miles; with effort, he can extend this range, and, using Cerebro, he has the ability to connect to every mind on earth.

Telepathic Cloak: Charles can go undetected by others, and he can extend this ability to other people.

Psi Link: Charles can create psychic links with others.

Telepathic Camouflage: Charles can telepathically disguise himself, and others, making himself seem quite different to those around him (extending to clothing and even to sometimes more subtle and involved sorts of disguise).

Mind Blast: the ability to cause extreme mental pain, sometimes by placing huge amounts of information into someone else's mind.

Mind Control: the ability to control the minds of others via mere concentration. This power can allow Charles to completely shut down the minds of several other people all at once, making it seem as if time has stopped or stood still.

Mind Possession: the ability to seize control over the mind of another and through this means to take control of that body as well. Charles can then use that person's body as his own.

Mind Alteration: the ability to alter the minds of others at will, including manipulation of their memories and essentially to edit them to suit his own purposes.

Mental Amnesia: Charles can cause people to forget things, singly or in large numbers.

Psionic Shield: Charles can erect a psionic shield to protect his mind, and the minds of others as well.

Psionic Blasts: Charles can emit focused blasts of psionic energy which do no physical damage to an enemy but which instead can cause mental pain or unconsciousness, or even outright kill an enemy.

Astral Projection: Astral travel and communication; he can create ectoplasmic objects in the Astral realm.

Mental Detection: Charles can detect nearby mutants.

Mind Transferral: Were he to die, Charles could transfer his mind and powers to a host body.

Information Absorption: Charles can employ mental transference to quickly store and process information.

Background in Brief:
Despite the early death of his father and, later, his mother and then his stepfather, Charles' natural ability to understand other people made him seem more mature than he really was from a young age. To this day, he sometimes acts as if he is older than he is.

So far as he knows, Charles has no living blood relatives, and only one by marriage: his stepbrother, Cain Marko. This pair had not been on speaking terms for some time after the death of Dr. Kurt Marko, who had married Charles' mother, but have partly reconciled since that time, though never on warm terms. A few of his students (Lorna?) know that Cain is named as Charles' sole heir in his will.

Upon leaving Oxford, Charles spent about a year and a half in Africa and in the Middle East, travelling as far as India, learning about diverse cultures and developing a fluent command of many languages. It was during this time that he received his elite training (mentioned above) in hand to hand combat, and, later during the same period, when he began to gain his deeper understanding of the operation of the human body. He has never mentioned to any of his students just where he obtained this training.

Starting at age 21. he spent two years as a Professor at Columbia University, during the second of which he was having his ancestral home in Salem Center renovated and turned into the School for Gifted Youngsters; he is in the process now of having the school certified to grant college degrees as well.

The school opened its doors in September of 2008, with Polaris and Siryn among its first class of students. With the appearance of the Fantastic Four and other super-powered people, heroes and villains alike, Charles has become an authority not only on the genetics of superpowers but also on the application of law as it relates to metahumans, and, in particular, to mutants.

Charles has been training some of the most promising members of his student body as the X-Men, but they have yet to make a public appearance. At this point the exact composition of the team is still uncertain, though several people are sure to be included (the player characters, that is), to say nothing of what the occasion for their revelation might be. Charles might be as apt to lead from the field as from the rear, but he will make that decision based on the circumstances.

At this point in time I don't think Emma would be aware of the school. She probably knows of Charles as an expert on genetics, but you don't want to have met her yet. That's a good thing for the X-Men. I'll send you notes TCost, once I write them.

While Magneto is a cold-blooded killer he is not a murderer. When he kills it is for a purpose and usually a defensive one. In my world he has never killed a civilian, and likely never will.

Emma is in many ways far more evil than Magneto could ever be. Hers is a subtler evil. A lawful evil for you D&D fans. And I wanted an enemy that was psychically more powerful than Xavier, at least for now.
