I wouldn't have realised the subtleties if I hadn't had to go through the whole business of designing and making, and testing and re-designing and re-making. If I had been able to buy a gee-string at that time, rather than having to make one, I would never got the insight I have now.
Because the waist band is a narrow ribbon it can be moved up and down very easily - because it is narrow, it "bites" into the skin a little when it is tensioned, and it will then stay in place.
The two extreme arrangements are:
low at the front, high at the back
high at the front, low at the back
When I was designing my first gee string I spent a long time adjusting the sizing to get the fit I wanted. As I practised fitting it I realised it would be possible to make a gee string which could been worn in two ways, depending on my mood - and who might be looking
The tame arrangement was with the waistband fitting quite low on my hips and high at the back. I experimented repeatedly until I got the size of the fabric absolutely right - so that labia were just contained - a very snug fit inside tightly stretched fabric. The fabric merged into the string section at just the right point to conceal the centre of my anus, but allowing me to allow a partial view of my puckered folds if I chose to open my legs.

You are absolutely right! Even photographers who always told me they adored the hairy look would invariably be totally fascinated whenever I posed shaved.
The reason is pretty obvious - a really clear view of what has usually been concealed, and, as a few have candidly admitted, the wonderful fantasies the enjoy as they imagine exploring and maybe entering my intimate orifices.
